A teenager of 14 years gave birth to triplets in the Minister Costa Cavalcanti Hospital in Foz do Iguaçu (PR) Brazil, Tuesday (20). The mother underwent a cesarean section in the seventh month of pregnancy. The Babies were born with 1.220 kilograms, 990 grams and 1.045 kilograms, respectively. Because they are premature, the children are in intensive care unit (ICU), but all are well.

According to maternity hospital, Melissa, Micaela and Mirela should stay in the ICU until they get at least two pounds each. The discovery of the triplet pregnancy occurred only in the fourth month of pregnancy.

“My mother got really shocked about the triplet pregnancy, on the other hand I was very happy about it” said the teenager. The grandmother of the triplets is 28 years old and also got pregnant at age 14. The great-grandmother is 47 years old and great great-grandmother is 72 years old.

Their father is 16 years old and should return from a trip to register their daughters. The family needs help to buy clothes for the babies and ask for, especially, the donation of diapers.

Another case in Minas Gerais

A family of farmers celebrated the birth of quadruplets in Belo Horizonte on Monday (12), which coincided with the Children’s Day. The couple, who already has five children, lives in rural Piranga (MG).

Who gave birth to the babies was a woman of 34 years. The three boys and one girl born at 33 weeks of pregnancy. The mother of the children discovered the pregnancy of the four children when she was in the third month of pregnancy. According to the hospital, she has not done any kind of fertility treatment.

The couple of farmers live in a house without electricity and no running water.

Despite having midfielder Felipe Melo sent off in the opening minutes of the second half and seeing Chile manage to overcome a two-goal deficit at one point, Brazil managed to win after they had already clinched the qualification with a 3-1 win at Argentina last weekend.

A Brazilian judge accepted charges from prosecutors alleging that Bishop Edir Macedo and nine other people linked to the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God committed fraud against the church itself and against its numerous followers.

Sao Paulo state’s prosecutors office alleged in a statement that Macedo and the others took more than $2 billion in donations from 2003 to 2008 alone, but charged that the alleged scheme went back 10 years.

Church lawyer Arthur Lavigne told the newspaper Folha de S. Paulo that the accused denied any wrongdoing. Church officials did not respond to attempts to reach them by phone and e-mail.

Prosecutors said the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God receives nearly $800 million in donations every year from faithful in 4,500 temples across Brazil. The church claims to have nearly 8 million followers in Brazil and many more around the world.

Prosecutors said the church tells its members it needs donations — cash, checks, cars and other goods — to finance new temples and to pay for religious programs on radio and TV.

The church allegedly used fake companies to launder the money, moving the assets abroad and then returning them in the form of loans used by Macedo and his accomplices to buy businesses, prosecutors said.

“There is proof that the money from the donations was used to attend to the personal interests of those being accused” and that they took advantage that the donations were not taxed to make investments in personal business, the prosecutors’ statement said.

Macedo, who founded the church in 1977, owns a large television network, three newspapers and several radio stations. He also owns a tourism agency and an air taxi company.

In the early 1990s, the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God was investigated for embezzlement and tax evasion, but nothing was ever proven and the church grew stronger.

Brazil is the world’s largest Roman Catholic country, but recently the number of evangelicals has grown significantly among its population of about 190 million people.

The small monkey, which is mostly gray and brown and weighs 213 grams (0.47 pound), has been named the Mura’s saddleback tamarin after the Mura Indian tribe of the Purus and Madeira riverbasins where the new sub-species was found.

It is 240 millimeters (9.4 inches) tall with a 320 millimeter (12.6 inch) tail.

“This newly described monkey shows that even today there are major wildlife discoveries to be made,” Fabio Rohe, the lead author of a study confirming the new discovery, said in a statement released by the WCS.

The study found that the monkey is threatened by development projects in the region, including a major highway through the forest that is being paved and which could fuel deforestation.

“This discovery should serve as a wake-up call that there is still so much to learn from the world’s wild places, yet humans continue to threaten these areas with destruction,” Rohe said.

The concern is with children who live in the region. “These animals are always searching for food and when they get hungry the become very dangerous. I had never seen a snake that size,” said the official public Tatiana Garcia.

According to a press advisory from the Brazilian Institute of Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (IBAMA), it is no a crime to kill wild animals when it’s necessary to protect crops, orchards and livestock and when there is an authorization from environmental agencies. In cases such as that occurred in Barreirinha, the guidance is to seek help from authorities.

As in Barreirinha, other cities affected by floods have recorded problems with wild animals coming closer to the houses. In Anama (AM), the flooding of the Solimões River made the number of bites by venomous animals increase significantly.

The health council secretary, Sônia Maria, says that in the past two months, were recorded 20 cases of bites, copper and stings by stingray, which is four times more registered than the same period last year.
