UPS not good for my health

That’s right, UPS is not good for my health, therefore I am suspending shipments with them. In the last two months UPS has lost, lied and failed to follow-up with any of my complaints. The lack of customer service is insulting. Aside from the headaches dealing with them its also affected my customers.

It bothers me when a UPS CSR will stand by the driver and confirm delivery was made when the CSR was not physically present. UPS has done this to me twice. Once with a personal home delivery of items I ordered online. The packaged had not been delivered but the screen read it had been delivered that afternoon. Of course I got on the phone inquired and ask they contact the driver. The driver lied and indicated he left the package at my door. Of course the CSR indicated someone might have stolen the package or a neighborhood kid may have taken it by mistake. Right….. Sure…. my neighbors did Okay…. Whatever… Finally the following Morning I noticed the UPS truck near my driveway around 6am. The driver was dropping off the package and placed in behind a bush near the driveway. No call from my local UPS was ever received. Similar situation was experienced by one of my customers; only her package was not delivered or found for 2 weeks.

Aside from those two incidents, they have lost several packages and delivered after the estimated time without any credit or explanation to my customer or myself.

I want my customers to be happy; therefore I will refund shipping cost or offer a percentage back depending on what was purchased. I have been pleasantly surprised by FedEx customer service and most recent the early deliveries of packages. While I will continue to pursuit my complaints with UPS; I will not use them until my Account Manager offers a new discount plan or a service gurantee other than what is provided.

The point of sharing this headache with you; is to encourage you to have an account with UPS, FedEx and USPS. Aside from avoiding area restrictions; you want to always be covered in the event one of the companies goes through a bad customer service spell.

I am sadden only because I did not get to see him perform “Live”; however, I am overjoyed for him and for the gift that he shared with us all. Michael Jackson inspired millions of us and will continue to inspire us through his music for generations to come. There are many pieces and moves of his that bring back incredible vivid memories of my childhood. Many like my first dance, my first performance and how can I ever forget the Halloween my friends and I attended a school dance with costumes inspired by “Thriller”. What are you favorite memories? Or favortie moves??

Stand Out with the Right Trade Show Displays

For those of you participating in a Trade Show for the first time you will want to look into banner stands, canvas printing, floor stands, lighting, table tops and of course flyers and business cards. Trade show displays can make or break your presentation. I have also used trade show displays for backdrops for my product. Of course table top displays work well to use for your pictures or display needs.

If you are planning on doing several trade shows you might like to use mobile graphics, which will allow you to carry them around in cylinders or travel bags. I know that a few years ago, the World Market Center in Las Vegas had many vendors in tents outside. That’s right, outside in the 110 degree heat. Amazingly we made it through. It was my first show in Vegas and I was glad that we had a table top display that allowed us to fold and pack away easily. If you happen to be outdoors you can also add graphics to your car or company truck.

I find that it helps to check out what your competition is doing. Look at the colors, style and sizes. Get an idea on what would work best for you and do not forget those business cards. Business cards are a lot more creative now; add your Social Network sites and display them on your table.

Participating in a trade show is exhausting, fun and a great opportunity for your business. What tips can you share with others participating in their first trade show? Here is one, always smile for that camera. There are usually Media Agencies covering for the local news and a crew representing the venue for future promotions.

Selling online usually requires a small investment but not always. For those of you not sure where to obtain the funds for inventory; you might consider a home loan. Home loans are always an option. I would always recommend that you start small and without a loan. Once your business picks up and you find you need a location, Team Members, Equipment and Inventory you may want to try a business loan or even credit cards. However, you can always obtain a home loan as back-up. The rates are usually a lot better and you can use the money towards home improvements as well. It is usually hard for Start-up business to obtain a business loan or line of credit.

Keep in mind that you can start selling online the items you have around your home. Selling your items around your home cost you nothing other than the occasional listing fees (varies on marketplace). You can also “drop ship”; the cost here is also minimal compared to stocking your own inventory. This is a great time to explore the possibilities. Sales online are doing a lot better and I know that soon you will experience the need to provide and stock larger inventory. Summer is here (almost) and this is a great time to start working on the Fall/Winter Sales Campaigns. Having inventory can give you an edge to the Holiday demand.

Card Printing for Business and Homeschool

Recently I attended a trade show where you are required to present your business card, company ID and verification of Membership. This is more than the usual form of ID requested at other Trade Shows. Having card printers do come in handy for both your business and surprisingly homeschool ID card printing needs. Aside from the obvious reasons you may need to have a company ID for yourself; think about the potential growth of your company. If you plan to hire Sales People, Drivers, or send company representatives to trade shows on your behalf ID card printers definitely come in handy. Keep in mind attending Blog World Expo. For the Blog Show you would also want to have nifty business cards.

What surprised me this month is that I had to provide school ID for my kids to participate in certain events taking place this summer. Also, in order to obtain a Teachers’ discount at stores like Lakeshore Learning a school ID is required. I am sure now that I am actively attending trade shows and do plan to hire additional Team Members the card printer will be of great use. If I get that Purchase Order approved with a certain school, I know I will need an ID for my driver(s).

You can read on my previous post about her success story. Here are some videos that will introduce to you her new line of make-up. I just placed my order and can’t wait to get my hands on them.

Lauren sold make-up brushes on eBay, she went on the create tutorials on YouTube to help her buyers understand how to use the brushes and to drive traffic to her auctions. She soon had a large audience and fans following her. One day she decided to do a make-up tutorial on Leona Williams from her hit Music Video “Bleeding Love”. The rest is history; sort of. The traffic generated from this video was incredible that soon she was contacted with offers; landing her to get her own make-up line.

If you have a WP Blog (Word Press Blog) then you want to head over to Jake CPU Nut. Jake did a great job with providing his readers with a detailed post on why you should use phpBay Pro to make money online. In order to make money using this WP Plug-in you will need to have an established blog and at least one of the following Affiliate Accounts: eBay Partner Network (EPN), PepperJam Network, Mediaplex, TraDouble or Affilinet.

This plug-in allows you to insert items directly to your post. You can narrow your selection to category, items and quantity. You do not have to have a niche blog as you will be able to adjust your selection per post.

Team Building and Customer Service Critical for Your Success

With the recent move I made to get a space for the growth of my online business it is time that I think about the culture of my company. I know that soon I will need to bring in Team Members to help assist with the growth. From past experience I know that my online business can grow rather quickly. TEAM BUILDING and a Strong Customer Service are critical for the success of any company, no matter the size. There are many other components that I have to keep in mind such as Insurance, Employment Policies, Compensation and Bonus and other Legalities. Most important is Team Building and Customer Service.

I have worked for companies that employed over 100 employees and understood the importance of team work and creating an environment where your Team Members feel free to be creative and find enjoyment in their work. Customer Service can sometimes take its toll on you. Creating a goal oriented compensation plan and offer Sabbaticals to your Team Members shows them you understand the impact their well being has to your success.

There are many companies that have incredible packages geared at Team Building. You can hire a Human Resource company to help you structure your Team Building plan. You can offer from One Month to 3 Months Sabbatical, back to school assistance, Career Growth, scholarships for their children, special retreats for relaxation for a day or even large Corporate Events to encourage Team Work. This of course varies from the size of your company to the industry you are in.

Now, I expect to hire at least 4 full time and 3 part time Team Members in the next year. Now would be a good time to check out what other companies are offering and create an outline on what my vision for my Team is. A trip to Hawaii would be great. I believe Oprah did this for her Staff and their families. I would like to know what Corporate Events Oprah offers.

eBay has an impressive package for their Team Members (employees) as well as Yahoo and Google. However, Zappos culture and core values have always stood out. Customer Service and their (Team Members) employees are priority at Zappos.

ABC News Nightline interviewed CEO Tony Hsieh over at Zappos. Zappos has grown to sell over a Billion Dollars in shoes and accessories. They could not have accomplished this goal without proper Team Building and Customer Service.

In my search to save money on schooling supplies, I have come across several places you find not only find an incredible deal but you can also sell them online. I usually order my items from Lakeshore Learning Supplies. Lakeshore Learning Supplies is known for their large variety of School Supplies but are pricey even with a teacher or Home School parent discount.

I recently went shopping to my local Dollar Tree Store. I have seen them around and heard in the news that you should NOT purchase food from them. As the food products are well past their expiration date. I did find several deals. I found Phonics Book, Spelling Books, Script, Reading Books, Flashcards and much more. I purchased five of each for each one of us and for my nephews. I came home with about 150 new supplies for your homeschool for just around $165.00. That is a deal. The supplies are $1.00 each. All items are $1.00, if you do not have a Dollar Tree in your area, you can shop online at the same low prices. When ordering online, you will have to order the minimum per item.
