The year 2009 enters with a bang! I'm talking about Tennis News here and the beginning of the Grand Slam Tennis Tournament through the Australian Open.

Players all over the world will go to the beautiful Melbourne City to try their luck and bid for the Australian Open championships. In the year 2008, Novak Djokovic won the tennis tournament in the Men's Division in Australia.

2004 was the first time that Roger Federer won the Australian Open championship. In 2006 and 2007, the amazing Roger Federer became King of the tennis court! In 2005, Marat Safin was the champion.

When it comes to the list of Australian Open winners in the women's division, the year 2008 was dominated by the beautiful Maria Sharapova. How I wish she would dominate the tennis news in Australia again by winning the championships. The year before that, Serena Williams won.

You see, the big names in the Tennis tournament world will once again be in the news because of their sheer talent and power in playing the amazing tennis sport. Australian Open tennis is just another season of testing for them.

Who will win and reign supreme as the Champion?

But that period is over. I am doing some online experiment that requires me to reactivate this blog. It will require additional time for me. But as long as I am willing to work on it, there's no problem.

Dang. It's so difficult to make money nowadays! Trying to make money online is really a tough job. But it is not impossible. This is what I'm trying to do here!

2008 Nursing Board Exam Results | PRC board exam results released today

After anxiously waiting for the results of the 2008 PRC Nursing Board Examinations, finally, you can breathe more easily, celebrate if you passed the 2008 PRC board exam. If you didn't, you can drown yourself in desperation, convince yourself your okay and stand up and go one with your life. As they say, try again if you don't succeed. You just might get it soon!

According to the Philippine Professional Regulation Commission, out of the 64,459 nursing graduates who took the exam, there were 27,765 who passed. The passing rate is less than 50%, which may speak something about the way that nursing as a field of study is being handled here in the Philippines.

To those who passed, congratulations. To those who didn't. It's not the end of the world. Go on. Keep trying.

Jessica Hardy, the Olympics and Dashed Dreams

Oh boy! American swimmer Jessica Hardy might be banned from joining the Olympics. This is her first chance to join and her dreams of Olympics gold might be dashed to piececlenbuterols. Whew!

She is a breaststroke swimmer and currently holds a world record in swimming! She managed to swim for 29.58 seconds on the 50 m breaststroke at the 2008 FINA Short Course World Championship in April this year.

Jessica Hardy has been tested as positive for a banned substance. I have no clue about what the substance is but the thing is, Jessica Hardy might not be allowed to go to the Olympics at all! This banned substance is a stimulant but the sources over at the Associate Press did not disclose what type it is. Hmm... maybe they are going to plan for a cover up. A news recently came up saying that the substance is clenbuterol.

The swimming world was rocked because of this. I just wonder what the US Olympics team will do because of this. Will they get another swimmer and enlist her in the team? Or will they just let Hardy go? Worse, will they plan for a cover up?

Jamie Olson of the USA Swimming Team did not comment about this issue. This might be just one of the issues that will rock the world in preparation for the 2008 Olympics.

I need more work though if I were to really make money online. I have also been thinking about my employment recently. The freelance life is one of the best things that ever happened to me, next to having a loving girlfriend, of course. :D and now, for the sake of paycheck security I might have to give it up. Sigh. Oh well... I've applied to several companies. If I got accepted, well and good. If not, then I'll continue as a freelancer for as long as I can.

UP College Admission Test, UPCAT 2009

The University of the Philippines College Admission Test, UPCAT 2009, will be administered on August 2-3, 2008 in various places all over the country.

It seems like ages ago since I took the University of the Philippines College Admission Test, UPCAT, in Cauayan City, Isabela back in 1998. Yeah. That was definitely ages ago! Heheh. Anyways, I still savor the difficulties, the challenge and the mind-boggling questions that I had to answer!

Whew! After the UPCAT, I was exhausted. My head felt like hammered into malleability on an anvil. I couldn't eat my baon, and I was so intent on answering the questions on my test paper.

Studying at the University of the Philippines is a big dream of mine when I was in high school. Luckily, the heavens answered my prayers and I managed to land a spot in the BA Political Science program. Although I would later regret enrolling in that degree program. Nothing beats the UP Diliman experience!

Thousands of high school students will be taking the UPCAT 2009 on August 2-3, 2008. For most of them, they got this one shot of entering the University of the Philippines. Some dreams will be granted. Some dreams will be dashed to pieces.

The results of UPCAT 2009 will be announced on February 2009. So you better stand by and check back with Whether you pass UPCAT 2009 or not, the bigger question is how will you go through College. You can take it seriously and learn about everything you can or you can just party around and endure one freaking class after another! Your choice!

Blogger Rant: When Will I Get There?

A lot of Filipino bloggers are doing really great in the blogosphere! They enjoy good traffic, they've got a steady stream of followers and what's more: they are earning thousands of dollars through Google AdSense!

This is a blogger's rant so bear with me. If you don't wanna hear my rants, then better leave the site now.

When will I get there? How will I get Super-Blogger status? When will my Adsense earnings skyrocket? Dang! How i wish I could start earning at least $10 per day. Is that too much to ask? Maybe it is!

When I was eating lunch, I just started thinking about what will it take for me to succeed in this blogging endeavor...

Thinkthinkthinkthinkthink....eateateateateat!.... then I saw the proverbial light at the end of the tunnel and it's still a long way off...

I still have SOOOO MUCH MORE to do and implement. I gotta learn and implement what I learn. What do I know now? I know the basic principles of SEO and how to stuff an acceptable level of keywords in the article. I know that I gotta build links, promote, promote and promote my blog to everyone I know online and offline.

At least I've just been in this blogging business for two months now. But if I want to really make a run for it, I gotta bring it everything I got.

So off I go to make my blogs better.

Sydney Brothels Expect Bigger Business with World Youth Day

Interestingly, the brothel owners in Sydney, Australia expect bigger and better business with the coming of the Pope for the World Youth Day. They say that every time there is a global event in the city, the demand for sex workers increase. With the 225,000 pilgrims and Catholics converging in the city, the brothels predict that they will get more customers.

The World Council of Churches Convention in Caberra in the 1990s gave them the best business in years!

Although the brothels are now expecting priests to come knocking at their doors, they expect lots and lots of tourists to go to them for sex.

Ironic and sad but true.

Laughing and Learning from Katigbak

I finally bought a new book after ages! It’s just that I didn’t have the patience to browse books at a booksale shop or the money to buy books at a local bookstore. But the other week, I was really feeling crappy that I wanted to read something that could make me laugh, and feel good too.

I trooped to the National Bookstore and browsed through some books. Usually, I linger at the Science Fiction and Fantasy section of the bookstore. But I couldn’t find my appetite for SF and Fantasy recently. It was like being on a 40-day fast and I have to warm up first.

Anyway, I finally trooped to the nonfiction section of Philippine publications. After reading through the brag boards and blurb pages, I finally decided to buy Luis Katigbak’s “King of Nothing to Do.” I’ve read Katigbak’s column in the Manila Bulletin. This guy’s funny in the profound sort of way. He writes about the interests and reflections of a young intellectual making his way through the murky roads of Quezon City and through the nitty gritty details of urban life.

His pieces are short enough to be read in as little as 15 minutes. But by the time you get to the end of the piece, you’re laughing your head off and wondering how in the world could this guy be so funny and profound at the same time!

I guess this is how you take the mundane and elevate to the level of art. By recounting these stories, injecting humor into them and reinterpreting them, we can weather life a little better. When we can laugh about our own experiences, then we can start learning from these experiences. Katigbak does just that. Sometimes he allows himself to be put on the spot in his writing and in the process we learn something new, or at the very least we can laugh at the experiences he recounts as something we have also gone through.

Just like me, you may be looking for employment in the Philippines. It is not easy. Sometimes, I get anxious about looking for a job. But while I’m looking for the right job, at least, I can write and earn from it. Anyway, here are the top ten jobs in the Philippines for July 2008.

1. Production workers/Factory workers. If you are a skilled worker who is willing to work in the assembly line and factories all over Metro Manila, then you can join these as a production worker or a factory worker.

2. Service Crew. Fastfoods and other service companies need crew members that could deliver fast and efficient service. Usually, the requirements for this kind of job are not very high.

3. Promo Staff. If you love talking, endorsing and selling products, then you might as well apply as a promo staff. Microphones not included.

4. Call Center Agents. I thought that call center agents were the most in demand workers in the country today. As it turns out, it is only fourth in demand.

5. Staff Nurses/Loan Assistants/Mechanical Engineers. These three kinds of job are in the middle rung of the countdown.

6. Promo Girls. Maybe this is the female version of the Promo Staff. I wonder why this should be specifically for girls only.

7. Domestic Helpers/Professional Nurses. This demand is for overseas Filipino workers. They can make “punas punas the pwet” of foreigners and work for dollars.

8. Accounting Assistants. A lot of people and companies need help in counting their money. You might just be the right person for that.

9. Electrical Engineers. This job does not repair electric chairs. If you are this kind of engineer, you can apply in companies both here and abroad.

10. Mechanics. Repair, repair, repair. Whether it be some auto that cannot run on gas anymore, or repairing any kind of machine, you can get a job somewhere in the Philippines.

How to Drive Traffic to Your Website for Better Results

I'm currently managing three websites. And boy, the writing of content is already tedious. I can write around 5-8 articles a day for all of the sites. After a while though, my fingers and my wrists feel like they want to separate from my arms!

But then again, even if content is king, I still need to promote my blogs like crazy so people would notice them and read them. This has been my problem in the past two months. So I vowed to start learning about Smart Internet marketing and blog promotion strategies so that my blogs won't be forgotten in the dustbins of the Internet.

So far, here are some ideas I've researched on how to drive traffic to your website for better results.

1. Create links and invite reciprocal links. There are a number of blogging communities out there. Through the help of other bloggers, you can establish a web of connections. When people reads the blogs of those you have linked to, they can also learn about your blog and what it has to offer.

2. Update, update, update. Make sure that the contents of your blog are up to date. If you fail to update your blog, your visitors will notice that. They might not come back to your blog in that case. When you update your blog regularly, you also show that you are a serious blogger and not only one of those people who are after the money.

3. Make a list of subscribers. Browse through your address books and ask your friends to subscribe to your blog. Since you are a friend, they will do your request. If they don't... well, you can always coerce them and tell them you will tell the world about their deepest, darkest secrets.

4. Put your blog url at your email signature. Every time you send an email, you are announcing to the world that "HEY, I HAVE A BLOG, VISIT IT!" Who knows who might click on your link! :D

5. Use article marketing effectively. Write hundreds of articles related to your niche and submit them to article directories. You might get TYPITITIS if you write continuously for a day or two. But hey, the rewards for article marketing are great. This will definitely translate to better traffic to your site.

I am currently posting around 2-4 articles per day. But I might just slow down in the next two weeks or so and focus on promoting my blog. This will be my strategy in doing that!

Joe Cocker is a rocker. That sounds a lot like a nursery rhyme or a tongue twister. But he actually is an English rocker. It's just that he's already 64 years. So he can no longer do the stuff he used to when he was younger.

But the guy still rocks! Although he has toned down from the exuberance of his youthful days, you can still hear his voice singing to the beat of his rocker soul! Joe Rocker actually has a new CD entitled "Hymn for My Soul."

Although, he is already a senior citizen, he has a tour coming up. Radio City Music Hall in New York will have him, together with Steve Miller Band. Joe Rocker has not lost his popularity. In fact, his album is selling like hotcakes in the UK.

The 1995 Honda Civic is hot! With the steep increase in the price of oil, people are ditching their SUV's, leaving them like high maintenance partners. People are now looking for cars with greater fuel efficiency.

That's perfectly understandable. With the price of oil going up to more than $140 per barrel, who knows where the world is headed to. Perhaps gasoline will no longer be used in the very near future. SUV's may just become the world's first ever extinct vehicles. SUV's are cool but they are deadly hot on the wallet.

The 1995 Honda Civic is made in Japan. But when economics is at stake, people will do everything just to improve their lives.

Amazingly, the most stolen car is still the 1995 Honda Civic. According to the US National Insurance Crime Bureau, this Honda Civic is the most stolen car, closely followed by 1989 Toyota Camry and 1991 Honda Accord. Apparently, even thieves have their set of preferences. Hahah.

With the increase in oil prices going up almost everyday, it is no wonder that the 1995 Honda Civic will continue to be stolen or bought legitimately in the market.

Why did Ivan Lattimore beat Julie Donaldson?

Ivan Lattimore is taking a lot of heat nowadays. After he broke up with Julie Donaldson, he received really bad publicity.

The Boston sports reporter Julie Donaldson, went to court saying that her ex-boyfriend Ivan Lattimore, beat her when they were still together. This isn't the first time I've heard about girlfriend beating and violence about women. But I'm just puzzled why only now. Let's explore the possibilities.

1. Julie Donaldson isn't mad about the breakup. She's trying to get even. A negative publicity like this might negatively affect the social standing of Ivan Lattimore. It's a great way to discredit someone.

2. Ivan Lattimore really beat Julie Donaldson during their relationship. But Donaldson only mustered the courage to come out recently and talked about the gruesom affair.

3. Ivan Lattimore and Julie Donaldson are just trying to find ways for them to get back together.

Whatever their reasons are for this thing, I hope they can resolve this issue. Violence against women is always a nasty affair. And any self-respecting man should not have to resort to that.

Does the Flat Belly Diet Work?

I came across the flat belly diet recently. I wonder if this works. I am pretty thin right now. I managed to lose several pounds because I have been so busy. Now that I'm that busy anymore, I wonder if I can use this flat belly diet to flatten my abs.

A flat belly is one of a man's dreams for his body. Contrary to popular belief, men can also be vain about their bodies. Vanity isn't exclusive to you ladies. So allow us to indulge on it sometimes. I need to work out a lot, huff and puff till I get good abs.

If the concept of belly flattening foods truly work, then I want to get that. Imagine, I don't have to workout and punish myself. I can even eat and eat to my heart's content. Eat, eat, eat without worrying about getting a beer belly.

Too bad, though. A lot of people believe that the flat belly diet can burn belly fats. Woot! This say that visceral/belly fat are in the abdominal cavity. In spain this diet against flat belly was developed in Spain. Eleven people with diabetic parents were tested.

Scientists and medical doctors are skeptical with the results, however. They say that the flat belly diet is just another ploy for publicity stint.

Too bad, I wish it works. Back to the gym for me then!

Since I am managing three websites right now, I need to think about ways to drive traffic to these sites. It's not easy, mind you. I've been trying to discover Search Engine Optimization and how to use it for my websites. But still, the results are not yet as good as I want.

That's understandable since i am still on the learning curve. To facilitate better learning in SEO, I will post SEO lessons and articles in this blog in the next few weeks.

After that, maybe I will reap the benefits of this SEO.

I Only Wrote Two Articles Today!

Would you believe it? I just wrote two articles today.

I feel tired and my hands seem to be suffering from typititis! Aargh... they're painful already. Quite frankly, I'm not in the mood to write. I'm not in the mood to work on my blogs and my websites. I'm not on the mood to face the computer. I wanna sleep.

Oh well... This is not the best way to grow my online writing business. Dang! If I could only force my brain to write, write, write today! On normal days, I don't have to force myself--the words just flow and before I knew it I have written countless articles.

I don't want to call it writer's block. That's a lame excuse for not writing. I'd rather call it lack of motivation? But whose fault is it?

Errr.. I don't want to admit it, but it's me. Hmmm.. perhaps my next article at the Be Mighty Now! would be about motivation and how to motivate yourself when you don't feel up to the challenges of day to day work.

I'll put that on the calendar and work on it tomorrow!

Freelancer's Lifestyle

Just came from Manila right in the middle of Rush hour. Sigh. I hate going out during the rush hour! If I had a choice, I'd rather put Airconditioning on my pseudo-office in the house. I won't have to go out unless I absolutely have to.

That is both the best and the worst part of being a freelancer. You get to stay home most of the time, you choose your own work hours, and if you don't want to work, then don't!

But you better make sure that you have good reasons for not working. Because if you don't work, you simply won't have money! Bills will pile up, and before long, you'll become extremely grateful you're staying with your parents.

You gotta have lots of guts if you want to live the freelancer's life. If you are starting out, there'll be times you want to be out. You want a normal job like most people have. And most of all, you'll want the security of a regular paycheck receivable every 15th and 30th of the month.

Whoa! I remember my days at IBM... sigh. Those were my rich days.

Lest, you get me wrong. I am also rich as a freelancer. But that's so seasonal I have trouble maintaining it right now.

But on the whole, I wouldn't trade this life for anything else. On with freelance life!

Following my decision to focus on movies at Penstalker.com, I decided that I probably need a blog that allows me to rant, talk about whatever that itches me. What if I want to write about the Pinakbet I cooked and the lechon I ate the other day? Or what if I’m itching to rant about the political situation of the Philippines? I can’t do that in my supposedly, “pro-blog”. Hahah.

That is why, whatevermighty was born. I am Mighty. Not that I’m big and bulky, and not that I can pick you up and throw you to the bottom of the ocean. I just want a blog where I can rant and showcase my not-so-good side. No cussing here, don’t worry. No dissing of good stuff either. You’re safe!

What is this blog for? What topics will I write about?

The answer is… whatever!

Whatever that interests me, whatever that annoys me, whatever that captivates me, whatever that can make me extra money, in short… anything under the sun!

You won’t read about my deepest darkest secret though. Like a friend of mine once said, if people could make money about their rants and depression, probably, they would be millionaires by now! Except, of course, if they are Emo rockstar! Heheh
