Now it is the time for Delhiites to start rethinking about the urbanization around. The present crisis which Commonwealth games have created should be mitigated at the earliest. If we keep on slaughtering Yamuna-Mother of 115 Crores people, definitely our future is dark.
It is interesting that for a small piece of land in Amarnath we have mass hue and cry from all corners of our country. But why now the saffron brigade which call itself savior of Indian traditions is silent on this grave issue.

This is a step in the right direction, but 10% is not much of a target. 50 or 100 percent would be wow. They should try and develop other sources of renewable energy also like wind and geothermal.

I am glad that Snigdha highlighted Anumpam Mishra’s focus on ‘philosophical’ angle to the climate problem. So far, our emphasis has been on scientific solutions, which has caused more problems than it solves. Science does appeal to the mind, but philosophy fills the heart; both approaches are supplementary for a better and more effective approach. For example, in India Bishnoi community has contributed a lot to the conservation because of their philosophical (religous also)approach to the living creatures without understanding it in scientific terms. the idea of development is as diverse as the people on earth. it can’t be imposed on people but needs to be imbibed by the people into their culture.
for the people who are arguing on the “per capita” emissions, just calculate the per capita emision of our rich and upper middle class..is that the lifestyle we envision for the future? Complaining about the western unsustainble way of life and trying to be like “them” is a paradox.
“village swaraj” and eco-cities are also worthy development models to dream of…and follow..
