Barack Obama is back from his mini vaycay in Hawaii, and back on the campaign trail, but wait... he brought back a little something with him, a cold...lol. Seriously, why is this news? He's human like the rest of us, or is he? But anyway, he caught it from his daughters, who he spent a lot of time with while there, which is great (not the cold), because his daughters probably miss spending time with him.

Well, this news is just a little distraction from the major anticipatory announcement that everyone is waiting to hear...who is he going to choose as Vice-President? Obama will be revealing his choice of vice-president first via text message to those who registered with barackobama.com, and afterwards to the general media. This Saturday at the Democratic National Convention, located in Denver, Obama will begin campaigning with his new running mate."

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - The Jacksons will receive a lifetime achievement award during performing rights group BMI's eighth annual Urban Awards on September 4.

Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, Marlon and Michael Jackson will be bestowed with the Icon award during the ceremony, which honors the most-performed R&B/hip-hop songs of the past year in the BMI catalog.

Michael has not yet confirmed his attendance.

Despite all of the wackiness that has gone on with the family, one thing that they have done right is their music. They do deserve this award, not only because they have been the business so long, but also because of the quality of songs that they have put out there. This award is mainly for the Jackson five, but Janet Jackson went on to be a success in here own right, and removed herself from under Michael's shadow. Not to mention she managed her money well. She, and the other female Jacksons are rolling in money, while the male Jacksons are in a lot of debt.

California Spider Named After Steven Colbert

A trapdoor spider species found along the coast of California has been named after comedy central host Steven Colbert. The spider's full name is the Aptostichus Stephencolberti (you try pronouncing that!).

Colbert demanded that a spider species be named after him after learning that a spider was named for rocker Neil Young.

Interesting enough, since Cobert does not pronounce the t in his name, the spider species will not either.

Ludacris' Obama Is Here Song Controversy

First, it should be noted that Barack Obama had nothing to do with this song it is solely the expression of the rap artist Ludacris.
The song boasts about Obama, but bashes all other candidates including fellow democrat, and former presidential hopeful, Hillary Clinton.

Obama has denounced the song although he was quoted in the past as saying Ludacris was one of his favorite rappers, and could be found on his ipod. But now, Obama is not too fond of what Ludacrist has chosen to do. Ludacris, who is a strong supporter of Obama has acted irresponsibly. Where was he during the Reverend Jeremiah Wright controversy which lasted over a month?

The Obama campaign released this statement in response to the song:

“As Barack Obama has said many, many times in the past, rap lyrics today too often perpetuate misogyny, materialism, and degrading images that he doesn’t want his daughters or any children exposed to. This song is not only outrageously offensive to Senator Clinton, Reverend Jackson, Senator McCain, and President Bush, it is offensive to all of us who are trying to raise our children with the values we hold dear. While Ludacris is a talented individual he should be ashamed of these lyrics.”

Mysterious Shooting At Jermaine Dupri's Party

Saturday, August 2, 2008 Jermaine Dupri threw his annual So So Def Summerfest held at Club Dream in Atlanta, Georgia. In which this year's theme was "Welcome to Atlanta." Some of the attendees included Puff Daddy, Usher, and Gabrielle Union. Around 4am a loud noise rang out, and Puff Daddy, Gabrielle Union, Usher and other celebs were quickly rushed out by their bodyguards. It is being reported that the gunshots were the results of an unidentified man who became angry because of the cover charge, and pulled out a gun.

It was reported by the local Atlanta station WSBTV that three women who attended the party were injured. Despite the scare the fest is set to continue tomorrow as well.

Seems like they got a very authentic welcome to the city. At least there were no fatalities. Wake up people aren't we tired of dealing with stuff like this? Looks like celebrities are now facing the same dangers as common folk do at the clubs. By the way, isn't 4 a.m. too early to be shooting at someone? Let the people have fun. Someone is always ruining the fun, trying to be the center of attention. I simply don't understand these things.

Barack Obama, The Messiah?

John McCain's "The One" political ad against Barack Obama takes Obama celebrity status to a new level of worship literally.

The video starts off subtly, making it seem as if Obama has a Jesus complex, but then McCain makes it pretty clear what point he is trying ti get across. After the contrived montage of Obama in which he is speaking with excessive conviction of the role he will take as president, Charton Heston as Moses from The Ten Commandments shows up displaying great power and leadership. The video ends saying "Barack Obama may be the one, but is he ready to lead ?" The ad is showing that Obama, who is rather inexperienced, young, and often cited as naive, may not be ready to people to the promised land. More important, Moses was an old man (hint hint McCain) when he lead his people...

Although, I disagree with this attack on Obama, but I have to admit it is sort of done to great effect. Someone at the McCain camp is doing their homework, although they are using their powers to do evil. Did they not learn from Spiderman: "with great power comes great responsibility." However, I would not worry too much about this ad affecting Obama's campaign too much. Of course, it will run its course, but won't affect too many come November. Wow, McCain is really playing hardball, this is the second attack this week he released against Obama.

Stephanie Tanner (Jodie Sweetin) Gets Her Own Reality Show

Little Stephanie Tanner is getting her own reality show...How Rude! (sorry I had to do it) She is going to be starring in it with her husband and child. Jodie Sweetin, the actress that played Stephanie, has really stayed out the the lime light since Fullhouse went off. But in recent years she has been appearing in the media here and there, reveiling that she had been addicted to meth. She has since gone on to rehab, and have been clean for some time now. Not to mention, last year she gave birth to her daughter.

Her reality show sounds very interesting. I have no idea what type of personality Jodie has. I pretty much only know her as her Fullhouse character, Stephanie. I wonder if she's gonna say any of her funny catch phrases, it would totally get her more ratings. But she better not go crashing her car into anyone's house. Besides, we have Shia Lebeouf for that.

That's the one attacking your enthusiasm, comparing me to Paris Hilton and Britney Spears, and making false claims about my energy plan. Now, we're facing some serious challenges in this country -- our economy is struggling, energy costs are skyrocketing, and families don't have health care. Given the seriousness of these issues, you'd think we'd be having a serious debate. But instead, John McCain is running an expensive, negative campaign against us. They're mocking the desire of millions of Americans to step up and take ownership of the political process. Why is the Price of Gas so High?

The reason why oil/petroleum/gas, in whatever form you call it, is so high is explained by GOODMagazine. GOODMagazine is a youtube channel that released a video July 29, 2008 explaining the oil "crisis" that the U.S. is in at the moment. Hope it helps to explain to you guys out there why the prices at the tank are so high....

And now that you know the reasons why gas prices are high, what do you think should be done about our dependency upon them?

Are hybrid cars the next step leading to the eventual acceptance of the electric car? (which can be tricky, since in order to make electricity, you still need oil at the power plants) An alternative progression perhaps is the use of biofuels. But will dependency upon biofuels eventually lead to wearing out the soil since we are already very dependent on soil for food. There is study and philosophy (Malthusian philosophy) saying somewhere along the lines that the (demand) human population is increasing too fast, and that there will be too many people to feed, and not enough food/land (supply). Just think about it, maybe food and fresh water as currency may make a return on a global scale. Sorry if I rambled a bit.

But on a higher note, maybe solutions will be found to these problems, especially if our survival depends on it. There are so so so many smart people out there working to make life better (most of the time) for everyone. I know, Im being optimistic. Where's Captain Planet when you need him?

Barack Obama has been likened to Britney Spears and Paris Hilton; as nothing more than a celebrity in John McCain's new political ad entitled Celeb. McCain, who is obviously very desperate at the moment, puts the reasoning behind Barack's lead in the polls -- as the result of him being a celebrity and not because he's a politician. IS someone's jealous...?True, Obama has gained somewhat of a celebrity status now, but he's so much more than a Britney or Paris clone. He's a heck of a lot more qualified than those two. Everyone is not looking at him for the next party he is going to attend, or his next big song or movie...People want real answers from him, like what is he going to do about healthcare, the failing economy, the war in Iraq, and the rising prices of fuel. At the end of the day, those are the things at which, Americans are more concerned. Come September up to November 4th, things will really be heating up, and less focus will be placed on whether Obama is a boxers or briefs kind of guy.
