We had opportunity to play and preview the new puzzler Dédale coming out in June (iOS, PC, Mac) by Sergey Mohov, a special little puzzler mixed in with clean graphics and cheerful music. It consists of 100 levels and a Dédale-O-Matic (random puzzle generator) mode with a butterfly attracted to colors, music and tiles. Our experience so far with the game has been aspiring to say the least and I found it to be soothing to play while a good amount of fun, the controls are easy and the puzzles don’t stay easy which is a good thing. It reminds me of the DS game Polarium but with a fun laid back vibe and has the potential to become a regularly played game in the Giant house. As you guide your arrow around the puzzle in a point A to point B style the butterfly follows your moves fluttering about, the goal is to mark all the tiles without going backwards unless you have a double move tile.

Puzzlers have been a recently growing genre in the industry thanks to mobile gaming but has had it’s rough patches, so this is a good sign that indie developers are taking more chances on the beloved genre and creating something new for us. The music is unexpected and very delightful with accordions playing while you pick levels and when you solve a puzzle “Victoire!”, while you touch tiles it plays piano keys and once solved it goes on to play a little jingle. I would classify this game as a great time chaser and fun experiment with gameplay music, it works great on PC and will be soon testing it on Mac and maybe iOS devices. I will make 1 or 2 more posts on this game to just update you guys on the gameplay and mac version as well so stay updated! Overall it has been a fun experience and wouldn’t really change much of it besides the semi-generic buttons to select the levels.

Remember that Elhae guy I keep talking about on here? He is getting ready to release his new album tomorrow entitled ‘The Letters’ on his Bandcamp. Stay tuned here for the review tomorrow and check out the intro video they created for ‘The Letters’, it seems like he is going towards a more personal route and perhaps his latest journey in sound. He recently opened up for Diggy Simmons and has found a whole slew of new fans, so this should be an exciting new step for the artist as well.

The latest video by Calle 13 continues the positive growth they consistently keep having on their music and life. The title roughly translates to ‘around the world’ and is a uplifting view on living and how you live your life. He starts by stating ‘don’t gift me more books because I won’t read them’, pointing out using life as your guide and not some manual society sets for you. Playing out the ever present focus on not getting stuck in routine and becoming lifeless, but dream and make your paradise. Everyone has been there but it’s nice to see it played out in a way that we have all thought or done at one point in our life. The beating drums and focus on maintaining your dreams then become eventually them is one that will never get old for me.

Dres and Jarobi the duo known as EvitaN are back with visuals to the single ‘Who Is This’, it has a good subtle style to the video and not a hodgepodge of effects that we are unfortunately used to. I have a very good feeling about these two joining forces and they have already started to prove my senses right. Now the way begins to more music and album talk. Don’t keep us waiting long guys ’cause we need more of this!

Starchild is back and ready to enter a new time, combining what he goes thru in actual life with his music he reflects it all in sound. The third full album release from the artist takes us on a journey through his childhood and leftover beats he’s accumulated in the past two years. While random snippets adorn the 15 track package, it magically flows from one track to another like a favorite DOOM track. I can appreciate this on soo many different levels (life, sonic thoughts) and especially what he’s doing if you chose to buy this project. You can download the project for free or pay whatever you want, 50% of it will be going to Cancer research. The relentless murderer known as Cancer has taken many lives and all the work that can go towards it is much needed, it has recently taken Donna Summer and Robin Gibbs and won’t stop there. Peace to Starchild for sharing part of his life and helping a good cause.

This… piece is amazing. HaLo did his thing while vivid visuals played with our heads and the beat just poured out. Everything from the lyrical content to the shorts clips of tigers, queens and owls was something that we don’t normally see in a video but wow was it great to have seen it now. Another Jamla Records Jenius (see… ha!) HaLo is worthy of a complete and dedicated listen to his project ‘The Blind Poet‘, bravo on the video Price Films.
