Hey Everyone - It's me Devon!

So DJ and I took a trip down to the Outer Banks in North Carolina. We stayed north of Duck in Corolla and had an awesome time. We hung out with our friends Charlie and Steffens and did so many things.

Here is a list of the top things we did!

1) Boogie Boarding in the Ocean - Corolla sits right on the Altantic Ocean and we rode those waves all week long.

2) We walked to the top of the Currituck Beach Lighthouse and got to see Corolla from a whole new perspective. There was a cool spiral staircase that seemed to go on forever

3) We buried Charlie in the sand. I think he wanted to be Sandman in Spiderman 3.

4) We went to a Beach with beautiful wild horses that come right up to you.

5) We were chased for miles in our LandRover by crazy horse flies at that same beach - I think that's because Steffens swatted at a few of them. They were pretty darn mad. We thought they were going to carry Steffens away in his sleep.

6) DJ went on a race car with our Dad

7) DJ also played miniture golf with our Dad - I wanted to stay back and play board games.

8) We chased ghost crabs on the beach with flash lights.

9) We saw Fantasic Four - Rise of the Silver Surfer the only day it rained and I really liked it, despite my friends saying it was scary.

10) Finally we decided we should write "Where Was I? - The Outer Banks" Guess I'll have to talk to Dad about that one.

Where Was I? Washington D.C.! is finished! Devon and DJ are excited to add yet another Where Was I? title to the collection. To celebrate we are planning another trip to Washington D.C. this month and we have secured a personal tour of the White House courtesy of Senator Mikulski from Maryland.

Sunset In Baltimore

So we ended up finding a camera and headed back to the Inner Harbor to watch the sunset.

The water was calm Devon and DJ ran around the cool structures by Tide Point. Tide Point was originally a Procter and Gamble manufacturing plant. P & G makes Tide, Ivory, Crest and so many more household products.

There are some neat things to do at Tide Point you can catch a water taxi and go visit all the Baltimore sites, take a ride in a Kayak and just relax on the hammocks and watch the sail boats.

So Devon and DJ took a walk to the Inner Harbor to watch the sunset last night - Unfortunately they didn't have a camera. So Devon took the time to draw the Baltimore Skyline as she saw it.

Next time we'll have to remember the camera!

Easter In Baltimore

Rewind to April 8th - Devon, DJ and their friends Sammy and Elizabeth went hunting for Easter Eggs on top of Federal Hill in Baltimore. Federal Hill overlooks the city and is a great park to sit and watch the boats sail through the Inner Harbor.

Baltimore City did a great job hosting the event with the exception of the weather. We ended up getting snowed on.

We had fun and after the Easter Egg Hunt we went to the Maryland Science Center and checked out their exhibit Grossology.

It was fun but pretty gross at the same time. DJ thought it was nasty when you squeezed a bottle to smell the scents that different bacteria made in various parts of the body. We smelled bad foot smell, bad breath, underarm odors and more.

It was gross!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We did like playing the life size game of operation and climbing the zit wall. Our favorite game was shooting boogers in the nostrils.

We love the Maryland Science Center! It's perfect for kids of all ages.

D.C. is coming along and we have some concepting for the cover. We think this so Patriotic and actually like the image as it is. I think Hazel is going to illustrate it though.

So the adventure continues. Saturday April 14th, 2007 Devon and DJ went to Washington D.C. for the Annual Cherry Blossom Festival Parade.

It was a little chilly and overcast with a bit of rain but they still made the most of it.

The parade was incredible. They had floats, marching bands, military units, advertiser floats like Target and Southwest airlines, and a special appearance by Mickey and Minnie Mouse dress in traditional Japanese Kimonos. DJ had just gotten his cast of his left arm so he was a trooper even though he was a bit stiff.

Devon and DJ got to see just a few parts of Washington DC and are going back to visit soon. They are in the process of helping writing Where Was I? Washington D.C. and there is so much more to see. They were able to see the Washington monument, the Lincoln Memorial, the War Memorial, drove by the White House and even had a chance to have eat dim sum in China Town.

Devon also had a chance to stand in the area where Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. gave his historical "I Have A Dream" address.

DJ Wanted to see George Washington in the parade and low and behold we saw a whole troop of George Washington's marching in the parade.

It was a fun day in Washington DC and Devon and DJ can't wait to get back down to DC and finish the book. Maybe they can even get a tour of the White House next time. If you plan to go yourself just be sure to to wear good shoes to walk in. You'll be doing a lot of that.

It's the first in a series of books that I am writing dedicated to my kids and to the millions of parents that travel for their career. I have been to so many of the greatest cities across the country and there are hardly any good kids picture books focusing on travel explaining where mom or dad went. It's no problem finding a shot glass or an ash tray with the famed city, but not appropriate for kids.

Where Was I? New York! features Devon, she's smart and has an incredible memory and she is joined by her extremely adventurous brother, DJ, as they travel all over the country.

The National Geographic Society has declared children’s geographic apathy “a cultural crisis.” Less than half of all children under age eighteen can identify the states of New York or Ohio on a map!
