This quote sums up how I have been feeling recently about my own life. I have felt less of a need to broadcast to the world what I am thinking, dreaming of, and even doing.

I dont want to be known by how eloquent my speech is to those who walk in the light but rather be known by those who do not even have a voice and live in darkness.

I have given away more resources living by faith than I ever did with a set salary.

People explain to me with various reasons why they could never do what I do.

No one should do what I do. They should do what they are supposed to do.

People say that when they make more money they will give more away.

Statistics prove that the opposite is true. Sadly the more we make the less % we give.

People have asked me over the years how I survive on the amount of income that I make.

My answer is always the same. I tell them this short story…

When I was younger I asked a very rich man to teach me how to make a lot of money.

First thing he said was “Give as much as you can. Save as much as you can.”

Then he gave me these two verses. Best advice ever.

The one who blesses others is abundantly blessed;
those who help others are helped.

Proverbs 11:25

If you help the poor, you are lending to the Lord—
and he will repay you!

Proverbs 19:17

Its not about how much you have its about what you do with what you have.

Shannon and I had an opportunity to see it first hand a few days ago as we went out with one of our friends to serve those in need.

It reminds me of the situation after Hurricane Katrina and how sadly some people are still rebuilding their lives six years later.

We believe the church should be a catalyst for creativity and innovation that celebrates the arts as a prophetic voice to our generation and those to come.

I am blown away by the creativity and skill of some people that are connected to our community. Musicians, Painters, Potters, Photographers, Tailors, and the list goes on and on.

At our party last month we showcased a wide variety of musicians and also had b-boy crews come out and they ended up staying until 1AM battling.

One of the guys in our crew makes guitars and I wanted to share a video that Andres Chou made about his passion.

Most of the leadership principles are about one man or woman having a vision and then everyone else getting on the bus in order to fulfill the vision of this one man or woman. This seems to be the case inside and outside of the church structures and systems we have created.

I am currently in a place and position where we have a team of individuals that are genuinely trying to learn what it look likes to be a team and have a flat leadership structure verses the typical pyramid-top-down system. Its more of what I like to call a “Holy Experiment” rather than an actual proven model.

Its almost like a game of chess where the king is the single most important piece on the board and everyone else is trying to ensure the king is represented well by moving forward or adjusting when necessary to complete the objective of the game.

In our case Christ really is the King and head of his body.

The two questions I get asked the most in our community is “Who is the lead pastor here?” & “What is your role here?” It brings me great joy to being able to answer “No one person. We have an amazing team here and we would love to have you hang out and see what happens”

Although what we are doing at this stage is not definable it has been a dream of mine for the past eleven years. I am extremely ecstatic about what the Holy Spirit is doing here in Asia and how our small organic community has the potential to bring a reformation to a region known for religious extremism but lacking the power to change anything.

A few videos that I have watched lately seem to point to the fact that we are on the right track.

I also love how Alan Hirsch views himself as a missionary to western world. Much needed and feel we will see many more people (probably Asians & South Americans) answer the same call within the next five years.

Mine used to be someone, somewhere, over there who is doing something for God.

But after being someone, somewhere, over there for the past four years I have changed my thoughts drastically.

As long as we think it is a select few people who are to go then we miss the point.
