It’s about time that the Hall allows the fans to actually have a say in who goes in – unfortunately, the public vote only accounts for about 1/100th of the actual voting process.

Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre at Encore Park

is an outdoor amphitheatre located in Alpharetta Ga, just north of Atlanta. Opened in 2008 the theater has a capacity of 12,000, with reserved seating and general admission on the lawn. The theater is owned by the Robert W. Woodruff Arts Center, Inc., and is operated by the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. It also serves as the summer home of the orchestra.

Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre at Encore Park is one of five Verizon Wireless Amphitheatres located around the United States with the others being located in: Charlotte NC, Irvine CA, Selma TX and St. Louis MO. The amphitheater hosts many different varieties of acts, including rock, alternative, pop, country, jazz, and R&B along with special events and festivals.

Aaron’s Amphitheatre at Lakewood

is located in Atlanta GA, approximately 4 miles from the downtown area. The amphitheatre has a capacity of over 19,000 – 7,000 under the roof and 12,000 in uncovered seats and on the lawn. Opened in 1989 as the Lakewood Amphitheatre, it is known as one of the southeast USA’s  foremost outdoor concert venues.

Since it’s opening, the theater has had several name changes, the first being Coca Cola Lakewood Amphitheatre. It retained this name until 2000 when it changed back to Lakewood Amphitheatre. In 2001 the theater became known as HiFi Buys Amphitheatre and that name remained until 2008 when HiFi Buys filed for Bankruptcy. For the 2009 concert season, the amphitheatre took its current name after an agreement with the Aaron’s corporation.

By Car: Take I-75/85 to the Langford Freeway East Exit. Follow signs to the Amphitheatre.

Parking

VIP Premier Parking is available to purchase for most shows. Upgrade to VIP parking available at the Pryor Rd. entrance for most shows.

Standard Parking is available for all shows. If standard parking cost is included in the ticket price, it is stated on the ticket text. Otherwise, there will be a separate parking fee.

There are approximately 6,000 parking spaces available. Parking lot opening times do vary. Please check with the venue regarding any questions.

MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre

is an outdoor amphitheatre located in Tampa, Florida. Originally known as Ford Amphitheatre, and having a capacity of approximately 20,000, it is the largest outdoor concert-only facility in the Tampa Bay area.

Ford Amphitheatre opened in 2004 with by The Cure’s Curiosa Festival, the name was changed to 1-800-ASK-GARY Amphitheatre when the rights were purchased by the lawyer referral service for three years, starting in June 2010. The name change has not been well received by the people of the Tampa Bay Area, in an poll accompanying an article on the name change in the St. Petersburg Times, 95% of people responded with either “I hate it” or “I think it’s pretty lame”. The theater has since been renamed to “LiveNation Amphitheatre” and now to it’s current name “MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre”

The amphitheater has played host to music festivals, including The Uproar Festival, The Mayhem Festival, Crüe Fest and Crüe Fest 2. On the first Sunday of every December, it hosts 97X’s Next Big Thing, an all day rock festival, mainly featuring alternative rock bands.

Bands that perform there must obey a decibel limit, due to noise complaints from residents that live close to the venue. A wall was erected in an attempt to help shield the noise.

Hopefully Benson can add some of his experience as an NFL owner to help stop the “inmates running the asylum” mentality that has permeated the NBA. I have a feeling that the Saints’ bounty issues will overshadow anything that he may do in the NBA. One suggestion though, please change the name of the team – New Orleans Hornets is almost as bad as Utah Jazz.

Unfortunately, until the NBA gets rid of David Stern and takes a real hard line stance with the players, nothing much will change.

Congratulations to the LA Kings on winning their first Stanley Cup. Considering that the Kings just barely made the playoffs, this is a monumental win. While the series started out with the look of an easy Kings sweep, the Devils certainly never stopped working to get back into a position to overtake the Kings. The Kings appear set to be a serious contender for the next couple of years – as long as Jonathan Quick continues to play at the level that he did this playoff year. The Devils, on the other hand, have many question marks that need to be answered; the biggest one is whether they can afford to re-sign captain Zach Parise.
