I was a lot more excited for this before the hype machine took over. I've already seen Best Picture nomination talk around it in heavy doses. For my money the best Iraq war movie so far has been Stop-Loss, but I know I stand alone on that one.

Still, I'll see this ASAP. I just wish my expectations weren't so inflated now.

The French are terrible at cutting trailers. I'm sure the film is a decent rom-com, but I agree the trailer is terrible and doesn't make me want to watch the film at all.

Good news is it opens Friday so it should be pulled from all the films by Wednesday.

God, I can't believe you posted this. This is one of THE WORST trailers I've ever been forced to watch. Please remove this from the Landmark reels asap. Everytime this comes on I want to bash my head into the seat in front of me so I'll go unconscious. Even missing the first part of the movie I want to see would be worth it so I never have to see this again.

Argh! That narrator! Stop the pain.

I'm a fan of Bigelow’s work. Even when one of her movies fails, there's no denying its energy. I've enjoyed almost all of her movies, even her work on Wild Palms. I also liked K-19, but it was inevitable because of my bizarre weakness for submarine movies.

I have a friend who is convinced that Point Break is the greatest movie ever made.

And The Hurt Locker looks awesome, by the way. I can't wait to see it.

I'll be sure to keep an eye on what you are doing David. I think the concept certainly shows a lot of promise, and potentially could be quite accurate.

I still think Chris Hewitt should make the cut though. ;)

Yeah, I think improving our introduction to each episode would help. Especially since we aren't reviewing newer films. It will let everyone know what we are doing and when we are doing it. I'm also tossing around the idea of "movie theatre horror stories" or something like that. I don't think their are all that many people who work at movie theatres podcasting and I'm sure some of the stories I can tell about it would be entertaining for listeners. Or maybe just an ocassional segment on tips to improve your movie going experience.

And I'm planning on working in requests at some point to help up the audience participation of the show. And I'm also considering a Lovecraft themed show at some point. Feel free to email me about your idea Robert.

Nice podcast and a solid improvement over the first. Other than fixing that mic issue, I'd suggest making sure you get the theme out near the beginning before jumping into the movies, not at the end as an afterthought.

Also, do you take requests? If so, I have a suggestion with a tenuous Lovecraft connection.

Matt, Thanks for your post about MovieReviewIntellingence.com. Please bear in mind that what I am trying to do, and what is different about MRI, is that I am trying to replicate movie reviews as they exist in the real world, according to how moviegoers see and read them, in proportion to what they see and read. That is how I selected the critics that I selected -- they are the most read/most seen. By covering more than 65 critics, I include substantially more than some of the other sites. I hope you will keep an eye on us -- thus far this year the results appear to be consistent with the real world of moviegoing. Thanks much.
I'd brag but I managed to insult a a minority group, not once, but twice. I was going to cut it but I think it actually ends up being so stupid its funny. I did run the podcast through an equalizer and compressor, and while it certainly helped, my mic is clearly a piece of junk. Nice to know my $5 mic totally outperforms the $20 one. Huzzah!

I have to admit I think this episode plays much better then I thought it would. I think my opening segment could use some work, but otherwise I think the rest of the format works pretty well. And I am super psyched for the next episode. It really could be a good one, primarily because of the films we are reviewing.

I am happier with this one than I thought that I'd be. Too bad the microphone is so sketchy; I sound like I'm on an iron lung. I never realized how many words have the letter P in them.

Notes: Olivier was the tooth yanking Nazi in Marathon Man, not Richard Burton. The guy from Goonies/Survival Quest is not one of the kids from Karate Kid. So, that's two for you and none for me.

I'll have a new mic for next time.

With such a great cast Pelham123 sould be pretty good. I think the stroy might be old, but it could be recreated into something good.

Interesting stuff, though the layout is a little busy for my taste. Lots of material to study, though.

I also discovered something called the Movie Review Query Engine last week. I can't link to it because it keeps spamming my comment, but Google it and you'll land on it. Variety is pushing that one, for whatever reason.

Interesting - I also came across the Movie Review Query Engine last week: http://www.mrqe.com/. Looks like neither Colin or Chris got in the Pelham count on that one. Odd.

But this MRI one is pretty interesting, especially regarding the timing of reviews.

Excellent, thanks. Glad that you also liked Food, Inc., surprised that you liked Public Enemies. I thought early word was "eh".

I'm most pleased by the addition of Baader Meinhof here. All of the Foreign Film nominees have been rock solid so far, plus a bunch that weren't even nominated. Also happy that The Hurt Locker was moved back up a week (at least I think it was).

Sigh, more blockbusters (Public Enemies, Bruno) - just get Transformers in there and call it day. Speaking of which, I dare you to open Bruno in Edina.
