Metabolism | Personal Trainer Boot Camp Mona Vale

Boost that Metabolism!

Every year it seems like some retailer is trying to get Christmas to come earlier and earlier. It is like some strange marketing competition.

We are not trying to bring it on early, but getting your metabolism up to speed to handle a summer’s worth of beer and BBQ’s takes time. It is better to stop the fat before it moves in than to try to evict it when it does. New fat moves easier than old fat.

The way to really increase your metabolism is extremely simple. Actually, it is so simple you probably already know it.

To get your metabolism moving will take some time. You have to condition your body to burn more fuel. You don’t need to become obsessed with going to the gym – you just have to start making something happen.

Now, Now, Now, Now, Now!!

Think back to last Summer. Think of a beautiful day and the idea that you should go to the beach.

Something stops you. You don't want to take off your shirt or wouldn't dare to be seen in a bikini.

How much does this suck??!!

Summer is rapidly approaching us, to the extent that even Winter has forgotten it is supposed to be cold and drab.

You MUST do something about your body NOW.

Anytime the topic of discussion in my blogs, articles or newsletters has turned to my own personal grocery shopping list, there has always been a spike in interest. It seems that many people are not only curious about what foods a natural bodybuilder eats to maintain single digit body fat, but they also want to be taken by the hand and told exactly what foods to eat themselves while on fat-burning or muscle building programs. That’s why I decided to put together four separate “top 10” lists of healthy foods that burn fat and build muscle.

It was such a pleasure to give to them - and I can only recommend being a giver, it was such a rush! I truly think that I got just as much out of the giving process as these people received.

So, without further ado, the winners of 12 months Boot Camp membership at our Mona Vale location are:

Moving Through Obstacles | Fat Loss Mona Vale, Narrabeen, Warriewood, St Ives, Newport

Excuses, Excuses, Excuses...

By now, hopefully you have begun to discover what motivates you the most and you are applying it to your life. One of the struggles which I have been learning to deal with is excuses and obstacles.

On many occasions I have vowed to begin my new diet or workout regime at a time when it was either physically impossible to act on it, or I have created an obstruction in taking action. Let me explain this further.

I've always wanted the six pack and the muscular physique but have regularly lacked the desire to apply myself and do the hard work. I have also regularly looked in the mirror and been horribly disappointed with the reflection. One of my favourite hobbies was to look at my shirtless self in the mirror just before bed time meaning the last thing I was thinking about was how I wanted to change my body. Now how many of us can actually get up and do something about their physique at 11pm? I would swear blind that enough was enough and that in the morning I would start a fresh with a new plan to tackle the old enemy and fight to the bitter end. Of course, come breakfast time, it was egg whites vs a sugary cereal. Do I really need to tell you who won?.

For those of you reading this blog in real time, you’ll have no doubt noticed that we’ve been “dormant” for about 3 weeks. Some will say this is laziness on my part. Some will say that I really don’t know what I’m doing. The minority will see the method in this apparent madness.

The answer is in the title of this post.

How to Keep Motivated | Personal Trainer Mona Vale, Narrabeen, Warriewood, St Ives

How to keep motivated

A question I asked myself constantly, a few years ago was, “How do I stay motivated?” You see, my biggest problem was consistency. I would work out at an extremely intense level, for about 4 to 6 weeks, then, I would look in the mirror and be disappointed with the reflection. All that hard work, all the sacrifices were for a minimal change.

I get asked all the time how to manage motivation and it really comes down to two key points.

Expectation management

Constant, in your face, reminders
