Whud is it?

It's the last post of the year on this page. It's also a wild party on the TTC subway that went down last night. Many more photos are on my flickr. Please pop in once in a while if you're interested in seeing photos from in and around Toronto.

Honestly, I don't understand how you people get some of these right! It's fairly obvious that some players have a knack for this game. The final challenge was correctly identified (by only three of the top players) as an ONION (the outermost orange/brown, dry skin layer to be exact).

Lady Dunnlop is our new CHAMPION. She was hot from the start, and never faltered. Her final score was an incredible 29/34. Congrats! You've won a framed print of your choice courtesy of Photosapience Photography!

Newcomer Lowebee was one point shy of first and takes the silver medal, and 2-time former champ and veteran whudder whudup sneaks into the podium for the 4th consecutive year. Congrats to both of you, who will be treated to either a dinner out or a delicious and nutiritious home-cooked meal. Wow - I work hard to score dates, don't I? ;)

Whud WAS it?

It was arguably harmless and beautiful street art, created by "Tattoo", a homeless man I met and blogged about just a few weeks ago. The city had it removed by concrete breaking tools, presumeably because it was considered destruction of city property. Please read more comments about this shameful and saddening action taken by the city on the Spacing.ca newswire.

Whud is it?

It's a picture of one of my favourite friends, and a chance to score a bonus point in WHUD4. His name is Gary (aka Scary Larry, Landy, Narcolandy, etc). He's a merchandise manager, is currently on tour with the burgeoning rock star band called "Metric", and often has fun stories about touring with the band. Whud does this have to do with the game Whudisit? Nothing really, but I thought I'd give his journal a little boost while offering Whud Players a chance to score a bonus point. All you have to do is post a comment on the first page of his site sometime between now and the Friday deadline for this week's Whud challenge and I'll add 1point to your score in Whud. It's the finalists in a city of Mississaugua's design competition. One of these (mostly gaudy!) buildings will be erected at the corner of Hurontario and Burnhamthorpe, near Square One. You can see them bigger and cast your vote on this web page. Let's hope the leopard skin vase design doesn't win ;)

It's Envision Toronto, a very new, very cool Google maps/photography project by Ryerson University New Media student Ahmed El-Khuffash. On Tuesday I took the streetcar to Greek Tint, went north on the Veiny Egyptian Dinosaurs line and transferred at Only Booger, then rode the Old Font Harbor line west to Lip King.
