(WIDK By Jane Rouen) - Someone is chopping down cedar trees, and only cedar trees, in El Dorado County.

Robert Dietz, of El Dorado County, California, has installed booby traps and hidden cameras to catch the culprit who has been chopping down the cedar trees he planted on his property more than 25 years ago to reduce the noise from a nearby road.

Dietz has caught the tree-chopper on camera, but cannot make out the face, as the man only works by moonlight.

Dietz is not the only homeowner in the area to see his cedar trees targeted by the tree-chopper.

The motive for the crime is difficult to figure out, as the man does not steal the trees, but tosses them into a nearby pond.

According to CBS Sacramento, Dietz cannot understand the man’s choice of trees, either: “Only incense cedars. Not deodar cedars. Not pine trees. Not oak trees. It’s this tree.”

A burning railroad bridge topples like a house of cards in this video.

Looks like this kid finally graduated from flicking over Milk Duds in derelict movie theaters to taking out entire railroad bridges like they were AT-ATs in The Empire Strikes Back.  Good for him, showing such imagination and ambition.

It will almost be a shame when the FBI tear-gasses him in his remote mountain cabin.

(WIDK By Jane Rouen) – A man held captive and tortured for 30 days was rescued by the New York City Police.

52-year old Pedro Portugal, a Queens businessman, was kidnapped off the streets of Sunnyside, thrown into a van and taken to a warehouse in Long Island City where he was held captive and tortured for 30 days until police officers raided the warehouse, freeing Mr. Portugal and arresting Christian Acuna, 35, Dennis Alves, 32, and Eduardo Moncayo, 38, all from Queens.

 The kidnappers demanded $3,000,000 from Mr. Portugal’s family in Ecuador, but the police, who were called in immediately, were unable to explain why Mr. Portugal was targeted, as his family is not particularly wealthy.

According to The New York Times, Mr. Portugal was abused throughout the ordeal — his kidnappers kicked him in the face and body, his hand was burned with acid, and he was threatened with death — but for his birthday, his captors bought him a cake.

Mr. Portugal’s abductors  have been charged with kidnapping and unlawful imprisonment and are being held without bail.

Quentin Wyland, a mixed martial arts fighter from Oregon, was horrified to realize that the tattoo he got on his arm to honor his dead grandmother was spelled backwards.

Because of the placement of the tattoo it was very difficult for Wyland to read, so he did not recognize the mistake until he showed the tattoo to a friend.

Wyland had to pay nearly $400 to correct the mistake.

According to The New York Daily News, Wyland decided to honor his grandmother because she had always given him “strength and support.”

(WIDK By Remus Lee) - Belt tightening by police departments leads to horrific results.

A 911 call in Oregon has made headlines when it came to light that police were unwilling or unable to help prevent an in-progress sexual assault.

According to Inquisitr, state and local police told an Oregon woman to ask her parole-violating ex-boyfriend to leave because they could not send units to her residence when she called to report the break-in.

The boyfriend was eventually able to break into the woman’s house and brutally rape her before fleeing and getting caught by Oregon state police.

The sheriff of Josephine County cites the recent government budget cuts in the decline of available police units to send on 911 calls and says that anyone at risk of crime should move to a jurisdiction with better police coverage.

As eye-popping as this spectacle is, I was a bit skeptical when the guy at 0:38 announced that he’d “officially seen it all”.  But if you’ve been around long enough, I guess, you might have seen the whole gamut of amazing:  a man walking on the moon, and the Jets winning a Super Bowl, and this guy defeating Communism, and the “one leg pulled up knee-high” pants craze, and two separate heroes from Predator elected to govern large American states, and the popularity of something called “Limp Bizkit”, and what Riggs really thought of Murtaugh.  And if you’ve seen all that, then a carousel lit by strobe at such a rate as to give the appearance of chocolate blobs splashing from a fountain into cauldrons and pouring into bird molds so that ornithological birds can spring from those molds and disappear headfirst into the underlying surface might legitimately be the last item on your checklist.

I hope that this museum has a suicide cleanup crew on standby–a lot of old-timers are likely to end their journeys here.

A video of an American art student destroying a piece of art has gone viral.

The video shows an unnamed student taking criticism from fellow art students about a painting she made.

After a few comments were posited, the unnamed art student suddenly loses her composure and tries to wreck her painting before storming out in a huff.

Many people who saw the video online doubt the veracity of the video, claiming it’s just another piece of performance art, the Daily Mail reports.
