Busy week!

The past few days were spent at hospital, accompanied my parent. Mum’s surgery was smooth and successful. Can’t thank God enough for the right doctor and hospital that took care of her.

The doctor can speak Hokkien and the hospital doesn’t have the srong smell of medicine & sick atmosphere, it’s more like a hotel.

Then parent-in-law just came here, sort of transit before heading for vacation on tomorrow. My parent will be going back tomorrow too.

Since both families in town, we had a met up for a while this evening, the first one after two and a half year – yeah we’ve been married for that long!

It’s normal for people to ask you, how’s your trip? Enjoy it? Song boh? The same goes after my Hongkong & Macao trip. But, the limelight was on HK, nobody asked about Macao though, so sad.

Being the not-so-descriptive person, my reaction is: Umm, Not bad, walked a lot. So so lo, walked a lot. Pretty good, walked a lot. I know, not the best way to describe HK and doesn’t helpful at all. But seriously, we walked A LOT so the answer only comes naturally when anyone asked about HK trip. Hehe.

Before I forgot, here’s the itinerary of our 6D 5N Hongkong and Macao trip on early April.

DAY 1: Leaving KL for Hongkong
The girls took a flight from Medan to KL a day before the departure and we met up at the airport with our flight at 2pm; Y with her sister, J with her brother, and me. Then A took the train from GZ to HK, while JW took a later flight and meet us in HK.

Getting out of the airport, we were greeted with the chilly weather. Awesome! We took the bus from the airport to city area. I somehow sprained my left foot ankle while getting into the bus, not good, eek.

Find the tourism counter and grab the city map along with other brochures. Helps a lot in finding the tourist places and MTR route.

Next to the tourism center, there is a ticketing counter where you can purchase Octopus card.

The bus stopped at Nathan Road, Tsim Sha Tsui. We walked along the road with our luggage, trying to locate Mirador Mansion – where Cosmic Guesthouse is – among all the shops. Found the place, check-in and went out for dinner at a vegetarian restaurant in Miramar Shopping Centre (along Nathan Road).

We spent the night strolling down Nathan road, checked out the outlets and calling it a day.

I had a hard time getting myself to sleep as the sprained ankle started to hurt. I was so worried I can’t walk the next day. Gosh, imagine flying all the way to HK only to be grounded at the small hostel room, I haven’t even went to Disneyland, pathetic!

With so many bad thoughts and worry in my head, I prayed for help and to be healed.

to be continued…

When it comes to weekend, the husband and I tend to scratch our head with the million dollar question “What to eat?”.

Two days, four meals (breakfast is a no-brainer – oatmeal that’s it), not fun at all. Sometimes we run out of idea of where to eat, sometimes it’s the hot scorching sun that makes us lazy to go out, sometimes we just want to be at home and have a home-cooked meal – something easy with rice that doesn’t take much time in cooking and clean up.

Well, sushi seems to be the answer.

We bought the sushi rice from Giant hypermarket and the seaweed a.k.a nori from Jusco – with free sushi mat, woohoo! For the filler we bought simple stuffs like cucumber, crab meat, and sausage. Still hunting for the flying fish roe.

First trial was quite messy. Second trial was pretty good, they say practice makes perfect.

Notable tips:

Keep a bowl of water and moisten your hands, otherwise the sushi rice will stick to your hands as much as itself.

Before cutting your maki (cut roll), dip your knife tip in a bowl of water to get a clean cut of the roll.

As I picked up my Mum’s call early this morning, she told me that they had to cancel their flight cause my maternal Grandpa has just passed away. I thought her call was to notify me that they were ready for boarding, something that we always do.

We’ve been searching high and low for chalkboard paint but no luck in finding it.

Well, when you can’t find the ready made one, turn to the internet and search for DIY tutorial. Always work for me as I found custom chalkboard paint tutorial from Martha Stewart and A Beautiful Mess.

So we bought unsanded grout and acrylic paint – dark green color instead of black. Mixed and tested on the wooden box (DIY by the husband). After the paint dried, we rubbed the white chalk on the surface and wiped it off lightly.

Finding the chalk itself was another pain in the a*s. Stationery shops didn’t even sell chalk but marker. We bought the second-hand chalks from a sundry shop.

I tried to write on the board and guess what, it works! *so happy* There’ll be more home project involving chalkboard in the future.

Aside from that, the husband also made triangle pennant and photo props on stick (moustache, lips, cute glasses, tie). He’s not only good in technical stuff like tinker with delphi oxygen sensor but also handmade stuff. Can tell I’m a proud wife.

All these were the preparation for our <del datetime="2012-05-05T08:01:20+00:00">engagement</del> wedding anniversary photoshoot. Yeap, there I say it.

The photoshoot happened on last Thursday, imagine paddy field + hot scorching sun + makeup + dress = lots of sweat. I hope the photographer didn’t zoom too close.

We’ll get to see the result on early June. Finger crossed the photos will be awesome as we have put so much effort in it.
