Despite reading some of the more negative reviews of this game I bought it anyway - bit of a mistake.

What a disappointing game. It is basically the old Brian Lara cricket game - same graphics, same game play, same annoying commentary. There is no real control (really) over the batting and it gets a bit boring after a while. There is an element of control over the bowling but not really enough.

And the fact that a game produced in 2009 does not have a licence to use the proper names of the players is just poor. As is the fact that it doesn't use the Wii Motion - well done Nintendo on that one.

There is just so much more they could have done with this game. Frankly, Stick Cricket is more fun.

No it is does not have the sharpest graphics but the play is pretty authentic and has been played lots in our house. The test matches are virtually over within the first day and it is very unlikely that you would get to the end of the 5th day and get a draw, even if you scored 1000 runs per innings. I have never played Brian Lara Cricket but this game has recent player names, it would however, be good to be able to update these in the future as some players will retire and not get picked in the future.

I was very excited to hear that a cricket game had finally been released on the Wii. However, this does not live up to expectations and I would avoid it if you are looking for game that stands up to the Brian Lara series. The graphics are not as good as other cricket games I have played, but that is not my main issue. My problem with this game is lack of options when bowling and batting. You are only given a few types of balls and shots you can play, which makes the game predictable. The ease in which you can hit sixes is also very unrealistic. I'd just like to point out that the Wii Motion plus accessory is designed specifically for brand new games that make use of the 1:1 motion seeking technology in the unit.

It is NOT designed to improve the motion seeking of older games that have been released. This is because the technology is different; the Wii Remote on it's own is merely a giro that 'guesses' where you are pointing. It will therefore not improve gameplay of older games.

I brought wii motion plus recently on amazon with virtua tennis 2009. I was very excited at the thought it would enhance my gameplay experience. I played a couple games of tennis with both wii-mote modes ("standard" and "motion plus") and I was shocked to find that standard mode was much better and easier to use. Standard is more accurate and simpler. Motion plus is very difficult to aim and doesn't enhance your gaming experience at all.

Firstly, let me start by saying that Grandslam Tennis is an excellent game on the Wii. After buying it, I ordered a Wii Motion Plus adaptor for my Wiimote, and it's turned the game into one of the most frustrating experiences possible!

Yes, the onscreen character follows your motions one-to-one - you raise your racket, and so does the character. However, that's where the similarity ends. The whole Motion Plus effect seems completely random. Some times the ball goes where you aimed it, but more often than not, you either do an air shot (when you haven't even swung) or your character doesn't even swing the racket.

Before anyone asks, yes, everything was fine before I plugged in Motion Plus, and I can quite easily beat the computer without it, and yes, I do play "real life" tennis, so I know it's not me. Just seems as though this doesn't actually work correctly with this game, and it certainly takes away from what is a good game without Motion Plus.

Well i've now been using this add on since friday with tiger 10 and ive also tried it with the grand slam tennis and it really doesn't add anything to the wii experience in general.
in fact i prefer not to use it as one its too long and in all honesty the wii doesn't need it.
Both me and my friend were using this for a good chunk of the weekend and neither of us are sold.
It is said this is supposed to be 1.1 control which is not true at all as there is still a lag between movements you make and the movements on screen.
Actually this should be given away free because it's not right that people should have to pay for this.
