So I went to Sim Lim with my friends to check out the price of replacing the HDD, and it only cost S$90 without installation of OS. Anyway, installing of OS is easy. I can find many tutorials if need be from the Internet.

Shortly after, my external HDD where my files are stored went corrupted. I could not access my external HDD at all! I was desperate and went searching for help online. Luckily, I came across a software called TestDisk. It is really a miracle application! So here are my cost for my SUAYNESS…

1) Replacement of HDD = S$90

2) SATA to USB to access external HDD = S$35

3) TestDisk Application + Lots of time = $Infinite

I am glad to be able to retrieve back my files, but I really need lots of time to resort everything again!

Bought on July 2006, it crashed twice. In November 2007 and April 2009.

So, what to do now???

Option 1 - Repair & change parts (Cost: $200 to $500)

This will be the cheapest option for now. Send for repair & see what has to be replaced. My guess would be harddisk only. If the price is reasonable, I might just replace it. If I have more parts that has to be replaced, then I will have reconsider.

Option 2 - Get a Netbook @ PC Show 09 (Cost: $700 to $900)

If the cost of repair is so near to a price of a new Netbook, then I will get a new netbook instead since my Macbook is almost 3 years old and I do not know what has to be replaced next again!

Option 3  - Get a new Macbook (Cost: $2000)

If not for my pathetic allowance in NS, I will straight away go with Option 3! If I were to get this, I will go bankrupt straight away!

Good luck for my Macbook, hope that my data can be recovered… Haiz…

I have driven both the latest and the previous model and I personally prefer the older model as it is much more comfortable compared to the latest model.

Likes about the latest model:

• Light steering
• Eco-friendly materials
• Slightly more powerful
• Better exterior design

Dislikes about the latest model:

• No excitement features
• Plastic interior feel
• Harder suspension

At the moment, there is another car brand and model which attracts me more. Wanna guess? Will be revealed soon…

SINGAPORE’S top car in 2008 has been dethroned after the first two months of 2009, as an old favourite returned to rule the roost.

 

The Toyota Corolla Altis is again the island’s No 1 model, based on January and February sales by members of the Motor Traders Association of Singapore (MTA).

At No 2 is another Toyota, the Vios. Last year’s winner, the Honda Civic, has since dropped to No 7.

Observers say the Civic has been hit by the rising Japanese yen, which has made the pricing of the top two Toyota models more attractive by comparison.

The Corolla Altis and Vios, as well as the No 6 Toyota Camry, are assembled in Thailand and are all traded in Singapore dollars.

Perhaps the biggest sales surprise in the first two months of 2009 is the Hyundai Avante, which has come from literally nowhere to rank No 3 in the sales chart.

The next nearest Korean model is the Kia Picanto at No 9.

The ageing Toyota Wish MPV is the No 4 seller, with 519 units - a tally that would have been higher if 80 units sold as taxis by authorised distributor Borneo Motors Singapore were included.

Another model that would have figured in the honours list, if it were not a taxi, is the Hyundai Sonata, with 241 units of this diesel model registered in the first two months of 2009.

Also quietly cruising up the charts is the Nissan Latio, the fifth most popular model in Singapore so far this year.

Jobweek Camp is an event where Scouts go around asking for jobs. After they complete the job, they get some contributions. To me, it is a good experience for the boys as it teaches them positive VALUES - only if they see if from a positive point of view.

Values like - Leadership, Teamwork, Trust, Hardwork, Responsibility, Brotherhood, etc.

It is good to see brother and sister scouts coming to the camp to help out. They are really a bunch of funny and cheerful people.

After the scouts set off, Kok Yeow, Ziye, Wendy and myself went for breakfast and went to buy stuffs for YK gift.

We had a appreciation lunch for YK and it was nice catching up. Had a wonderful time laughing over there with his jokes. Well, when was the last time where I had a really good laugh? Guess more than 1 year ago! 

Went back to GSS after lunch and had to do some troubleshooting for the management system. Something unexpected happened at the very last minute and we had to do something to salvage the system. It was very tiring and at the same time satisfying after the system was revived. However, it soon broke down an hour later. Sad!

It is gladdening to see the Scouts coming back after a hard day of work. Some really did very well and I am very proud of them. Well some of them just really needed to wake up and ponder about what they have done.

Near midnight, we observe 6 rovers (Sock Wee, Harold, Siew Hui, Li Ting, Jin You and Jun Kai) joining the rover family. We then had a photo-taking session and at the same time celebrated Parry’s birthday!

After the default 2Wire model by SingTel broke down, I bought D-Link to replace. SingTel is not even interested to help you with troubleshooting and refers you straight to D-Link. Come on, they are selling their lousy modems at a price so much higher that what you can find outside, seriously who would get from them?

After the contract ends in June, I am going to sign up with StarHub. I really can’t tolerate not having Internet especially when it is a very essential item in our daily life. Internet service by SingTel have failed terribly for me.
