Here you find out about late breaking campains that we are involved in, and where you - the Supporter can find out about all the wonderful things we are trying to acheive. As of last week we have had some major developments. Here is some brief news........
The 4 Day Thing
We have been chosen to participate in a project where young budding designers work on a brief and have 4 days to complete it. The team here at The Wilderness Society are very exited to see what they come up with.
Cape York Peninsula - World Class WildCountry
Covering an area of 14 million hectares, Cape York Peninsula in far north Queensland has miraculously survived the wave of destruction that has engulfed the environments of the east coast of Australia. It is one of Australia's, and the world's, great wilderness areas.
As a result of its remoteness and wildly fluctuating monsoonal climate, the 'Cape' is one of the last wild regions on the planet. It is an 'ark' of biological diversity.
From Kimberley to the Cape
The Northern Australia Environment Alliance, of which The Wilderness Society is a member, is developing a 20-year vision for northern Australia that would reconcile the protection of this magnificent environmental treasure with genuinely sustainable development. It is critical that we avoid the disastrous land management mistakes that have blighted much of southern Australia.

posted by I love wilderness at 6:29 PM 0 comments

Tuesday, September 28, 2004

The Wilderness Society Bulletin Board
Protecting Forests, Growing Jobs
Leading conservation groups have released a comprehensive package of proposals representing a lasting solution to the intractable forests problem in Tasmania. The package would enable the protection of old growth and high conservation value forests currently threatened by logging, and grow employment levels in the timber and tourism sectors, ensuring that no jobs are lost to the state.

posted by I love wilderness at 10:23 PM 1 comments

Wilderness News

This is a test
