I really like the idea of a couple being able to share a common joy in a hobby, be it…cycling, photography, food, whatever. Brian and I don’t necessarily share the same interests. He loves to rockclimb. I’m slightly afraid of heights. I like to shop. Brian doesn’t like to spend money EVER! He likes to ride dirt bikes. I at least like to ride four-wheelers. I like to create art or design a room. Brian appreciates it but isn’t necessarily into it himself. However, we have discovered something that we both might like to do together, which is build stuff. Brian has a creative brain, but it’s more mechanical than mine. I think we would compliment each other because I’m quite visual/spacial when it comes to piecing things together.

I have recently come across a girl from Brooklyn that I’m kind of amazed by. She is a woodworker by trade, and she’s really incredible at what she does (not to mention- she has the most amazing taste). Now, this isn’t to say that I think Brian and I can do the quality of work she does, but it does inspire both of us to try out this hobby together and see where it gets us. When we move into our new house, we are planning on setting up the garage as a workshop, plus I’ll have an art studio in the house. I’m seeing a lot of creative potential in our future. You know what sounds good right now? My amazingly soft, cozy bed. It has been calling my name. It’s telling me, “Kaleen, your body doesn’t like to function off 6 hours of sleep!”

So it’s about time I listen. I’ve made it through my “work week” which was Thursday til today. Just now in fact. And the first thing that was on my mind was my B.E.D. My husband is working late, my favorite tv show is on, and my new ikea duvet is crazy cozy. This calls for a night in huddled under the covers with a bowl of ice cream and my kitty. Hopefully, next time you see me or hear from me I’ll be well-rested!

Romancing the Eye

During this season of love, I’ve been thinking about romance, and I think there are things that speak to the heart and the eyes. Something beautiful. Something sweet. Something delicate and sensitive. These are the things that romance my eyes.

Starting from the top and going clockwise:

A driftwood heart is lovely in it’s simplicity.
I’m romanced daily by the beauty of Anthropologie, especially this blouse and skirt combo.
Vintage-inspired lingerie always speaks romance to me.
A leafy composition…what girl doesn’t love flowers?!
Expressive hands and organic rings. Sigh* just beautiful.
String-bound love letters (reminds me of The Notebook).
Yet another piece of beauty from Anthropologie…everyone I know has fallen for this blouse.

As I’ve thought about what romances my heart and my eyes, it makes me want to consider what I put into my life on a daily basis. Find what speaks to you, and don’t worry about the rest.

Here lately, I’ve had house stuff on the brain. I’ve been scouring my design books and Pinterest for inspiration. Even before we found our new home, I have been loving the clean, white backdrop you see in a lot of interior design these days. Catching up…

Okay, I’m back. After watching a ton of people I know go to Alt Summit…after hearing there is an Oklahoma Blogger’s Night Out next week…after spending the afternoon with Erin Cooper of Cooper House and Pippin + Pearl, I decided I should probably get back to the ol’ bloggy blog. It’s been one of those things. I got a new job. I’ve been really busy with the new job. I’ve gotta get used to the whole new schedule. We’re looking for a house. I really need a blog update now that it’s not geared for wild.flower, the boutique, anymore. My excuses for not blogging go on and on. Honestly, my main problem is just not knowing what I want to blog about these days. It used to be store happenings/fashion inspirations. Now it’s just, well, random stuff. So, I’m just going to have to try to pull myself out of my blogging slump and refocus myself. I really enjoy the community of blogging, so I’m not about to quit. I guess I just need to find my voice again.

So there you have it. This is my start back on the path to recovery.

In a big news sense, we believe we have found THE house! I adore it’s fresh white walls. (I never thought I’d say that!) I can’t stop designing it in my head. My very first truly blank canvas that’s mine all mine! (and Brian’s ; ) No parents or landlords to crush your dreams. Here’s a little tour…if you have any brilliant ideas, let me hear ‘em!
