the best BEST chicken salad. ever.

remember last year when i said i had the best chicken salad recipe? well i retract that. while in palm springs this weekend, a sweet friend of mine {❤ c} brought lunch for all of us upon arrival to the hotel and it was quite possible the best chicken salad sammie i have ever had. at first i thought it was the fact that i was starving and had consumed some alcohol but once i got home i made it again and my memory served me right! SO yummy! the best part is that it includes one of my favorite salad dressings! also, i highly recommend making it with the smoked chicken from the smoke house at whole foods. it enhances the flavor in a way you cant even describe.... good call cyn!!! without further adieu...

the best best chicken salad. ever.

ingredients
4 chicken breasts chopped or shreded
1 1/2 cups red seedless grapes chopped
1 1/2 cups celery chopped thin
1 cup pecans chopped
12 oz bottle brianna's poppy seed dressing
salt and pepper to taste
{i also added a little bit of mayo and a little bit of honey ... probably about a tablespoon}

directions
mix it up. serve or refrigerate immediately. *really good served on a croissant.

this past weekend we celebrated that crazy girls birthday out in palm springs. i have known most of the girls i went with since high school. since i don't get to see them very often we try to make the most of every visit and let me say - we definitely did that! i think it goes without saying that we had a b.l.a.s.t. and to make it even more amazing we stayed at the villas at the parker. now... i don't know if you are familiar with the parker but it is f-ing awesome {pardon my french but it is. its more than awesome. its f-ing awesome.} i was just going to post a few pictures but i couldn't narrow it down because the place is that stunning. i literally could move right on in. jonathan adler... ya done well. so if you havn't gotten the chance to stay there, i highly recommend it - or at lease just stop in for a drink and some s'mores around the fireplace.

we had a little "baby shower" celebration for my sister in law this past weekend. we made these ham sammies {if you havn't made them they are a must!!} lots of wine, of course, and the only game we played was headsup {an app you must download if you havnt. SO FUN} my kind of baby shower! love you k! cant wait to meet my nephew...ps how cute is this diaper cake i made from honest diapers??

polka dot vase

this weekend i decided i needed some gold polka dots...i mean who doesn't need a litte bit more gold polka dots in their life??? i grabbed an old vase and some spray paint and got to work. of course you could do it the easy way with big gold stickers - but i clearly like to do things the hard way. i taped the whole vase with painters tape. punched out a circle, traced it, razored the circles out, sprayed it. done. so guess its not that difficult... which is why i think you should do it this weekend!

i made a little book for my mama this year for mothers day. i came across this book at paper source the other day and as i started filling it out it just didn't feel personal enough to me... so i decided to use it as a guideline and answer all the questions but in my own way and in a book that is as pretty and cute as much as it is meaningful. i also threw in some old pics of me when i was little and gave a handprint {because whats mothers day without a hand print???} hopefully this will make it a little easier being so far away from each other on this sweet holiday❤

for ever's third birthday i gave out these as the thank you gifts and the year before i gave out some really sweet ban.do heart pins but this year we had so many kids that i just made some cute little gift bags and filled them with everything from tattly tattoos to bouncy balls. although before i could start handing them out one of the kids had already gotten into them and lets just say he made off like a bandit! you know who you are..... ;)

pinata part 2

last year i made these mini pinatas for evers birthday but this year i made a big one... however just like last year i forgot to have this kids do it!!! luckily i remembered when there were still a couple kids over! {woops! think those margaritas went straight to my head...} anways if you want to make one its super easy...

what you need:
large cardboard box
scissors
hot glue
tissue paper
rope

what you do:
cut out shape desired {pic 1} make sure and cut out two, one for front and one for back as well as long one inch strips enough to go completely around your shape. next glue the strips to the back {pic 2} making sure to leave an open spot to fill with candy at the end {pic 3} glue on the the front. now cut out strips of fringe from tissue paper and glue to pinata {pic 4} starting at the bottom working up to the top. once done, cut off excess {pic 5}

one banner two ways

this year ever wanted a pink red and gold birthday... and that's exactly what she got and lots of it! i decided to make a bunch of banners to add some color to our white, barely decorated walls. i think they turned out pretty cute...

for banner one: i cut cut 6 -8 inch stripes of crepe paper rolls. then grabbed a small stack {anwhere from 3- 10} and folding in half, stapled them to string. after those were all attached i added a few random pieces of gold fringe {from one of those gold fringe banners at party city... if they are out look and see if they have this gold metallic tissue}

for banner two: follow the exact same instructions from banner one. once done sprunch, pull apart and crinkle the paper until it's all big and poofy.

as most of you know, ever turned four last week{.... ahhh!!!} and we had quite the party. this was the first time we actually had kids other than family or close friends over to celebrate- they had A LOT of fun and my house reflected! needless to say i spent a lot of time wrangling the kids {and when i wasn't doing that i was downing a much needed margarita} so i didn't get to take a ton of pics this year but this week ill post some tutorials on some of the decorations i did.... soooo stay tuned!

dont you wish there was an easy way to print out your sweet intsagram pictures? guess what... there is! origrami . just connect your instagram to their website and choose which pictures you want to print out. best part is they are polaroid style!!! on the back there is a map of the location where you shot the picture {if your instagram is connected to your map... mine is not} also has your name, date and number of likes. so easy! now get to printing!

i have definitely been taking my sweet as time when it come to decorating this house, turns out keeping two kids alive is a full time job.... so i've been a little preoccupied. on top of that i can't make a decision to save my life when it comes to what i want to do. these white walls scare me... its just like too much pressure to start from scratch! ahhhh! then i discovered my saving grace... enter mur . these are basically the greatest wall decals ever. now i am not a wall decal person - never have been. until i came across these! you can use them over and over. they have tons of color and pattern options plus the best part is you can change your pattern over and over {which helps me with my indecisiveness!} cam and i did this wall in less than 2 hours. super super easy. and if i can do it- you can do it. please please do yourself a favor and go to their website and check them out. these would be perfect for all you renters out there who need something thats not permanent but still want to make your place killer. i cant wait to get my hands on the polka dots... soon my house will be a house by mur.

after we made these onesies, we had a lot of fabric paint left over... and with the weather starting to warm up, we've been really excited about summer and all the sun- beach- tan- popsicle- saltywater- bike rides- coconut scents- pinacolada nights- little bikini- cut off short excitement it has to offer. so we pulled out an old pair and perked them up a bit to get us ready for all the fun were about to have!

cauliflower soup

the other day we went over to the boat to have dinner with cams mom and sister... now this is always an ordeal because a decision could not be made between the three of us to save our lives when it comes deciding what to eat. lucky for me ❤k made a decision: cauliflower soup and grilled cheese. let me tell you - i have had this soup now three times this week! im addicted. it seems almost too easy to be true... it's from a cook book called the family chef by jewels and jill elmore which ❤k actually introduced me to a couple year ago {looks like i need to go though it again...} its so simple, so clean tasting. love it.

don't knock it till you try it cauliflower soup:

ingredients:

1 drizzle olive oil

1 onion

1 tbsp butter

1/2 head of cauliflower

1 box organic chicken stock

few pinches curry powder

pinch white pepper

pinch salt

directions:

drizzle olive oil, brown onions. once onions are done, add remaining ingredients. cook until cauliflower falls apart.

{i did a whole head of cauliflower and didn't do curry powder... not a curry fan. also zucchini would be amazing added to this- trying next time for sure!}

dice some onions...

check on the baby and realize his lips look to scrumptious not to take a picture

then pour yourself a glass of wine because if you don't this blurry figure may lose a finger...

go back to cooking...

diy polka dot onesie

sometimes its hard to justify buying clothes for infants since you know they are just going to grow out of them in the blink of an eye... so i've decided just to buy a few onesies and jazz them up myself! insert the polka dot onesie. i didn't want these polka dots to be too feminine so i tried to make these not perfect or uniform to "manly" them up a bit. all you need is a onesie, a pencil and fabric paint. just dip the eraser end into the paint and start dotting until your hearts content.

as some of you probably know, my other half has been out of town for the past few weeks. we have been doing lots of arts and crafts and other messy activities trying to keep ourselves occupied... this is one of those activities! ever died lots of eggs over the weekend and she just can't seem to get enough! so today we decided to mix it up and stamp them with home made stamps. all you need are some boiled eggs, paint, a stamp pad {if you don't have a stamp pad you can use card board, make-up sponge or even a potato.... really anything that you can cut and use as a stamp} and push pins. cut your "stamp pad" into desired shape, put a pin in the back for easy handling and get to decorating!!! {ps we've decorated about 36 eggs and it's only day one of spring break...}
