Don't you want a nation chock-full of strapping, healthy young lads and ladies to staff our military? Don't you want to secure our borders, fight terrorism, and continue knocking over international despots -- with the best possible able-bodied men and women your tax dollars can buy?</p> <p>There's a storm on the horizon, folks, and Jesus is going to need all the strength we can muster. Universal health care will supply a steady stream of it.</p> <p>While we're taking care of our young people, we're going to need plenty of healthy, clear-thinking, middle-aged scientists to ensure that our military is equipped with the most state-of-the-art technology in the world. Universal health care will make sure their brains are operating at full capacity, synapses firing like an Uzi with a stuck trigger.</p> <p>And since we're all hell-bent on making sure World War III remains an inevitability, we're going to need millions of old people to stay fit and trim, so they can staff our Walmarts while the rest of us are off killing towelheads and such. So I put on my hat</p> <p>And went out to do it, just like they said -</p> <p>Followed directions, alpha to zed.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Lo and behold, it didn't work out.</p> <p>The map they had given was wrong, north and south.</p> <p>It worked fine for them - for the land they lived in -</p> <p>But their lefts and their rights and their stern directions</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>Got me nothing but farther from my destination.</p> <p>So I made a map based on my observations,</p> <p>Wrote "You Are Here" and drew a place marker,</p> <p>Gave names to new places I alone had discovered.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>The more I ignored all the shoulds, big surprise:</p> <p>I was much better served by my own pair of eyes.</p> <p>I finally knew where the hell I was going.</p> <p>And still to this
