edit: After using another computer and being signed in to Google on that machine, I found out that the problem I addressed below was just a glitch. Could've been Firefox, or Fast Dial, or Google. Either way, the problem didn't exist on the other machine, and the problem disappeared on my computer when I restarted Firefox.

Processing for Javascript, and an Intersting Book

I just discovered that there's a Processing library for Javascript called Processing.js. What's interesting about this is that the applications created aren't Java apps. This is nice since most of the projects that I have created and uploaded online take a while to load. I may end up using Processing.js to redo my old projects unless I used some commands that haven't been implemented in the library yet. But hopefully I can think of a project to make use of this library on, aside from digging up

Going One, Twice... Sold

My Auction House experience is still in progress. Today I bought out as much light leather that my amount of gold would allow, and rather than resell them, I figured I'd kill two birds with one stone and level up my leatherworking. I did just that. I made a bunch of Embossed Leather Gloves and sold that. Then that skill turned yellow on me, so I made a bunch of Embossed Leather Cloaks. I'm not particularly concerned with the price, and trying to outsell everyone. But I did sell my items pretty cheap--about 5 or so silver less than the lowest existing pric

Inconsistency

Just something to note in case you've ever wondered: Microsoft Visio's (2007) user interface color (the baby blue) is unchangeable. Not a big deal, but if you happen to be using multiple MS Office software where you can and did change the color scheme, then it's a bit of jungle fever. Here's a list of software that CANNOT change color schemes according to the official website:

Ding

I finally got to level 40 the other day. As explained in my previous post, I did so by running through some instances. In my case, it took exactly three runs through two different ones two level up. Afterwards, the tediousness seemed worth it when I went back to Darnassus to train up and get my epic mount. I could finally wear mail! Leather armor was becoming extremely difficult to find while running through dungeons, so it's a relief to know that I don't necessarily have to buy armor now. The mount is pretty spectacular; it's like the Lamborghini of moun

20 Until 40

At this point in time in my WoW career, leveling is no longer exciting. It's also not hard. It is, however, tedious. The not-so-big secret to leveling up quickly is to keep going through instances. It's pretty idiot proof if you're a hunter, since all you really have to worry about is attacking and controlling your pet. And it's particularly satisfying when you get a group that doesn't suck and knows what they're doing--which isn't too rare now that I can only do dungeons where they're relatively high level. I finally hit level 39 the other day after goin

Between MMOs: MS, WoW's Little Brother

World of Warcraft (WoW) and MapleStory (MS) were released approximately around the same time, 2004 and 2005, respectively. While there are differences between the two games, I consider those differences between each, the characteristics of each game that make them unique. After having played both for at least one month, I can safely say that the two are fundamentally the same game—everything from classes, to economy, to quests—and that the differences such as the interface and 2D/3D world do not detract from the

Hugging

The assignment this week was to run with the opposite faction. My alliance character joined up with Jhedian of the Horde faction. Policy and I decided to attack the Horde Town called Tarren Mill. Policy and I were able to kill a couple of Horde players before (what seemed like) they logged off and got their high level characters and proceeeded to decimate us. We "corpse jumped" for a while and managed to get away to an alliance town where we saw some more low level horde characters. We didn't kill them, but wanted to try and help them instead but real

Designing Future

I took Bret Stalbaum's advice when I talked to him last week and went to my ICAM160a professor's (Benjamin Bratton) office hours on Tuesday to discuss post-graduation plans. It wasn't particularly thorough, but it was a lot of information that is pretty informative regarding what ixd really entails. It's obvious now, but he told me that most interaction designers have their side projects, and work for a company doing the technical diagramming of interaction, testing, etc., and not really doing all the fancy things such as in Minority Report. I don't mind doing the technical t
