Layout (may)Be Gone

I have a new layout floating around in my head for my website that isn't as tacky as the layout I have now. I feel incredibly guilty for leaving it as it is, but contrary to what I've read, changing the layout in Drupal is not easy. I look forward to sketching out and wireframing the basic layout soon, and then hopefully I can do some JavaScript magic that I finally learned from class to make it flashy. I will feel pretty relieved when I can finally do away with this unimpressive slop of a layout, which also means I'm probably going to drop Drupal. I got what I wanted f

Somewhat New Project

I said I would update my website over my Spring Break, but so far I have not done anything with it. I have an excuse though. I've been making a website for my senior project, and I just finished it tonight. Please check it out. It's called MetaCursor. Like I said, I just finished it. But since it's 1:20am right now, I don't think I'll be adding any meta tags or anything to it. Tomorrow. I generally tend to visit websites I make

Colors

Please excuse the messy color scheme on the page. I'm in the process of changing it to something cleaner, but in addition to there being lots of intricate details in the CSS file and images I have to recolor, I'm also nearing the end of the quarter (which translates to a sudden burst of due dates), so it might take a while to tune them all to the same frequency. Thanks!

PS: I still haven't forgotten about my Projects page. I plan on uploading the functional projects up there as soon as possible. Only two more weeks until spring break!

Lightbox, Thickbox, Madness

Drupal makes a simple thing such as organizing images extremely difficult. Their modules are a nightmare to work with; so many compatibility issues and problems with UI. Together, this soup of disorganization--which includes poor documentation--is keeping me from implementing Lightbox2 or Thickbox, and I give up. This should be simple. The most complicated thing that should happen is that I need to type in ref="lighbox" somewhere, and that should work for my images.

Feed-a-Burnin'

I'm using Feedburner now (completely for the stats) so please subscribe to the right! Otherwise I have no problem with the regular .rss/.xml that gets generated. So far it's a bit confusing to me how it generally works. I added my other blogs to FeedBurner too, but I don't think it's counting existing readers for those. I'm almost certain I have at least one existing reader for my other blogs, but it's not showing up. Maybe I don't have any readers for that one, or maybe I'm doing something wrong. I also can't seem to burn just the "icam120" tag using the FeedBurner Drupal module, which is a shame, cuz I know that I have readers for that one since my professor told everyone to subscribe to every student's blog. Ah well, not that important I guess.

Updated Projects

I added some content to my projects page. So far it's just text description and some screen shots. Actual links are on the way. Additionally, I cleaned up my posts; it's now differentiated between blog and story. This is a story. Stories will be be strictly about my website--updates, etc. It goes on the main page only. Blog posts go under the posts tab. Blog posts will be for everything else, personal and scholastic, or both at the same time. I was questioning my organizational skills and why I had the exact same content on two different tabs. Laying things out blindly typically leads to disorganization.

Post Numero Uno

My first post/update with my new design (finally done in Drupal like I said I would do). The learning process was incredibly tedious. It took me a while to realize that Drupal isn't exactly a design tool per se, but a CMS--which I also had to learn about before I could understand how Drupal works. In a nutshell, by using Drupal, my entire website's data gets organized through Drupal's core, and by using the really crappy UI which made up a bulk of the learning, I can maintain my website much easier than having to publish an individual page through Dreamweaver or something.
