The Global Positioning System or GPS, as it is commonly called, is being used for a variety of purposes, like – route navigation, finding a specific service, such as a hotel or a restaurant or an ATM or a fuel station, planning holidays, tagging photographs and so on. While all these activities are quite easily accomplished when outdoors, where the GPS signal is strong, finding an indoor location can be quite challenging, owing to lack of signal strength.

GPS receivers receive signals from the GPS satellites in-order to get the exact location of the receiver. When indoors, the signal strength is low, making this task difficult, and sometimes impossible too. To solve this issue, a new technology has been developed which uses GPS signals along with all other possible radio signals, in-order to map the exact location of the user.

CSR, a UK based company, was among the first to realize this possibility. The technology that CSR developed uses GPS signals to determine one’s position. Real-time information is also gathered from the other satellite navigation systems, such as, GLONASS, Galileo and Compass. Apart from these signals, information is also retrieved from Wi-Fi and cellular radios. Altitude data can be obtained from satellite signals. However, when these signals are not sufficient to determine this parameter, modern gadgets (such as smartphone and tablets), also retrieve data from their in-built sensors, such as accelerometers, gyroscopes and compasses. All this data is combined to calculate the precise location of the user.

While this new technology holds a bright future for GPS trackers, there are a few challenges that stand in the way of implementation. One of the challenges foreseen is being able to use this technology without having the gadgets lose their juice quickly. Many of these handhelds get drained faster than otherwise, when using GPS. With these advanced features, the use of GPS is definitely going to increase, with people wanting to know their locations more often. Unless power management is improved, we might see these devices, running out of battery just by the use of GPS.

On the brighter side, this new technology can be used by shoppers at malls, or students at large university campuses, or even by employees at huge offices, to find where they are or where they need to go. Two conditions need to be satisfied before people start using this technology. One – the gadgets employed must contain the chipset that is compatible with this technology. Secondly – the malls or offices or universities must supply the data that they want displayed on the maps, to the mapping companies. Google is one such company that is reportedly working in conjunction with several such malls, offices etc., to upgrade its maps to display indoor details. Floor-wise details, showing each entity on the floor is supposed to be provided, to the user.

Anyone who has suffered from chronic pelvic pain can appreciate the work done by Dr. David Wise and Dr. Rodney Anderson, two researchers who worked together at Stanford University for eight years and who are releasing a new, revised, expanded 6th edition of A Headache in the Pelvis, which outlines a groundbreaking treatment protocol for individuals who suffer from chronic pelvic pain.

The Wise-Anderson Protocol has integrated the disciplines of urology, physical therapy and psychology to create a treatment plan that treats the key body and mind components of pelvic pain. Specifically the Wise-Anderson Protocol uses a specific method of pelvic floor physical therapy and pelvic floor relaxation called Paradoxical Relaxation. A detailed description of this psycho-neuro-muscular paradigm of pelvic pain and its treatment is carefully outlined in the new upcoming edition of A Headache in the Pelvis.

A Headache in the Pelvis Explains Wise-Anderson Protocol (popularly known as the Stanford Protocol) For Lay Persons

Dr. Anderson and Dr. Wise make it clear in their book, A Headache in the Pelvis, that overcoming chronic pelvic pain requires the treatment of both the physical component of a tightened pelvis and the exacerbating influence of anxiety. Because many cases of pelvic pain are diagnosed with different names, many patients have undergone treatment and tests that are ineffective in identifying the cause or offering effective treatment of the problem. The authors of A Headache in the Pelvis emphasize that there is no effective surgical or pharmacological treatment for muscle based pelvic pain and that the rehabilitation of a chronically tightened pelvic floor and the reduction of nervous system arousal is key to the alleviation of symptoms of many with chronic pelvic pain. Stephen Dattels Talks About The Feasibility Of Mining In Space

Just recently, a new company started a media campaign to introduce their business plan: they want to mine asteroids. The company, founded in part by a number of high profile celebrities and billionaires, plans to harvest minerals from asteroids near Earth. Is this idea even feasible? To find out more, Stephen Dattels, who has over 25 years of experience in the mining exploration and resources financing industry, examines the possibility.

All things considered, anything mined in space would not be economically feasible. The cost to transport those materials back to Earth would outweigh the revenue gained from even the rarest metals. Stephen Dattels works to find mining opportunities on Earth and sees more than sufficient opportunities, rendering asteroid mining unnecessary. Stephen Dattels‘ Polo Resources Limited finds undervalued resource companies and projects, and invests in them in order to leverage those opportunities.

Stephen Dattels Examines Terrestrial Opportunities

Bottom line, Stephen Dattels does not have to go to space to locate opportunities. Stephen Dattels has a proven record as a chief executive in resource financing mineral exploration and he currently oversees a number of exploration opportunities here on Earth. Why should investors be looking to the stars?

Leave it to the celebrities and billionaires to play in space. Stephen Dattels focuses on creating value for his shareholders.

With stories of professional dishonesty and performance-enhancing drugs permeating the adult world, it’s no wonder that studies show academic cheating among children and teens on the rise. But while cheating on a test or plagiarizing an essay may seem a quick way to get a leg up, students are actually holding themselves back from the type of meaningful learning that will serve them best in life.

So how can parents keep kids from cheating in a society that seems to stress winning at any cost? According to Eric Anderman, Professor of Educational Psychology at The Ohio State University and co-editor of the book Psychology of Academic Cheating, the trick is to diminish the motivations that drive cheating in the first place.

“Kids cheat when they become stressed,” explains Anderman, who says that as the pressure to get good grades and high test scores increases, so does the incidence of cheating. Anderman says that although children who cheat in school do not fit any defined profile, they’re usually students “who are much more focused on getting good grades and extrinsically motivated rather than intrinsically motivated by a desire to learn.”

That means that the more pressure students feel, the more likely they are to resort to cheating. And although pen-and-paper notes and other familiar methods are still very much in use, cell phones and PDAs have opened up new opportunities for students gunning for top grades. “Obviously with more technology there are more methods kids use to cheat,” says Anderman. Browsing the Internet during a test, texting solutions or taking photos of answer sheets and messaging them to friends are all possible in the digital age, and enforcement of no phone policies can be tough for teachers.

Using technology as a cheating aid may be new, but cheating has been around a long time, and it probably won’t go away anytime soon. However, there are things that parents can do to help make sure their children get the most out of their education by getting past the impulse to cheat.

Take Pressure Off. Kids often cheat because they see it as the only way to measure up to high expectations. Although it’s good to expect the most from your kids, make it clear that you expect them to do their best, not be the best.

Avoid Extrinsic Motivation. Praising your child every time he comes home with a good grade is standard parenting procedure, but make sure that you’re sending the right message. Avoid punishing your child for low grades and rewarding him for high ones. Instead, emphasize the concept of effort by recognizing the hard work he put into his work, and encouraging better effort in problem areas.

Talk About It. “One of the most important things parents can do is talk to kids about how they are feeling academically and whether they are feeling stressed,” says Anderman. Opening up a dialogue about tough classes does more than inform you about where your child is struggling: he’ll know that you’re on his side when it comes to that killer math test or demanding paper, and be more likely to come to you with problems rather then dealing with them the wrong way.

Prep for Peer Pressure. Whether your child is involved in cheating or not, she will feel pressure to participate from peers at school, from friends asking to copy a last minute lab report to students passing notes across her desk during a test. Make sure she knows that by saying “No” now, she’s not only helping herself, but helping others in the long run.

Know the News. Sports stars, politicians, and high-powered businesspeople are constantly in the news over all kinds of misbehavior, from doping and lying to insider trading and fraud. Use these cases as “teachable moments” to talk about moral values, and emphasize that even though some people act dishonestly to get ahead, it’s still not okay for you or your child to do the same.

Set a Good Example. Think your teen doesn’t notice what you do? Think again. Younger kids may mimic a parent’s behavior, but older adolescents will jump on hypocrisy wherever they see it. Either way, it’s best to be a role model for your kids, and that means putting the brakes on “white” lies and shortcuts to get what you want the easy way. Be sure to share personal stories about cheating and lying with your child, too: it’s important to show that you’re not so perfect after all!

Although pressure to perform is an increasing focus for students, your child shouldn’t feel that cheating is the only way to get ahead. Through hard work, good communication, and a desire to learn, your child will become a better learner and a better citizen for life.

Traveling the world is one of my dreams! Seeing people from different races, different walks of life and learning their culture are just few of the things I love about traveling. Seeing scenic views and taking photos from all those breathtaking scenery is one of a million kind. Know why? ‘Cause I’ll never get the chance of getting back to those times anymore! If had then definitely it would be a different story already.

That was the very reason why I keep on saving a little penny of salary ’cause I wanted to visit the adventure place of Disney and stay in Disney World hotels where I’m 100% sure to savor my time and spend it the best or it might not be 100% but at least it would be the most memorable experience.

Hopefully by the end of this year I’ll got the chance to visit the place and eventually leave my legacy in there! A legacy of everlasting memory that will last forever!

When parents think of scientific learning, they probably think of the chemistry experiments and and biology textbooks that characterize science class in elementary school and above. But preschoolers are already actively engaged in scientific learning, both inside the classroom and out. As they ask questions and seek answers to their “how” and “why” questions, they are beginning to practice scientific investigation.

The scientific method for preschoolers doesn’t involve fancy equipment and systematic procedures. “Science is a way to find out about the world through exploration. Children are investigators by nature, “says Dr. Laura Martin, Director of Science Interpretation at the Arizona Science Center. “When you nurture children’s natural desire to investigate you are helping them to develop scientific minds. We create environments that engage the senses of young children and allow them to sort and classify, handle, observe, and build and ask questions, which is how they construct ideas about the physical and natural world.”

You can foster your child’s curiosity about science by engaging in conversations, reading books and simply observing the world around you! Preschoolers’ natural curiosity makes exploring science together a blast. How can parents help? Try a few of these fun and simple ways to engage your child in science learning.

Conversations

As you make observations about nature, start conversations with your preschooler. Simply discussing what you observe, hypothesizing about what you think might happen, and categorizing different objects and occurrences will give your child important insights about science.

Hypothesize: Give your child the opportunity to make guesses about what she thinks might happen.

Ask your child what color she thinks will be created when you mix blue and yellow together and then let her try by adding food color to water or finger painting.

Engage in a little physics by rolling cars down a wooden plank or balls through a wrapping paper tube. Ask your child to guess which angle will make the car or ball go faster or farther.

Fill a large container with water and gather a bunch of small items from around the house. Have your child make guesses about which will sink and which will float and then test her theory. You might be surprised by some of the results.

Categorize: Help your child understand the order of nature by observing the categories animals and food fall into.

Take notice of which foods are vegetables and vegetables. You can also categorize other foods from your dinner plate such as dairy, grains, and protein.

Talk about different types of animals and see what you can learn about them by checking out books in your library. Follow your child’s interest: if she loves frogs, find a book about amphibians, or treat your little bug hunter to a few books about the characteristics insects share. Other interesting categories might include nocturnal animals, reptiles, fish, and mammals.

Observations

What seems obvious to you may be a scientific breakthrough for your child. As you go through the day, observe out loud all the wonders of nature.

Point out Plants. Take a nature walk and observe the plants you find. Notice the buds on the trees in spring, the falling leaves in the fall and how the grass turns brown in the winter. Go on the Internet to learn more by doing a search for any questions your child has.

Investigate Insects. Get a magnifying glass and take a closer look at the creepy crawlies in your yard. Children are fascinated by bugs and will enjoy taking a closer look. Take notice of which bugs have wings or antennas or how many legs they have. Check out a few books at the library to take your investigation even further.

Analyze Animals. While visiting the zoo or farm, notice special characteristics animals have. Can you see how a rhinoceros and hippopotamus are the same and different? Which animals have sharp teeth and claws? How does the giraffe use his long neck and the elephants use his long nose? What do they eat? Where do they live? What are their babies called? Ask a zoo keeper or farmer to answer any questions you may have.

Investigations:

Take a trip to your local library where a wealth of information can be found on any science topic of interest to your child.

Be sure to check out the non-fiction book section, which will have many books with photographs rather than illustrations. These gems also contain charts, graphs, and everything your child could want to know about various science topics.

The author Gail Gibbons writes wonderful picture books on a variety of science topics. Check out The Reason for Seasons,From Seed to Plant, Recycle! or any of her other books for great science reading.

Eric Carle books are wonderful resources for learning about bugs. Take a look at The Very Hungry Caterpillar, The Grouchy Ladybug and The Very Quiet Cricket for a jumpstart to learning about bugs.

Science is quite simple for young children. Help your child learn about her world through conversations, observations and investigations. These simple activities will help build the foundations for your child’s future scientific endeavors!

We just have some hi and hello’s. Some questions and update from them back home, ’bout my sisters, my Mom, relatives and whatever comes up to discuss with. He even ask me about my job and how was it? Well, replied him that so far its great and of course there are pressures but I’m learning to accept it as days passes by.

Until we ended up talking about pumps. At first I was confused what he was talking about. I was thinking about pumps for his bicycle. But his referring to a different one and it was about the goulds pumps or also known as water pumps. We’re actually using it ever since before as had an old lining of water though he requested to change it but ’til now it wasn’t fix and that was the very reason why he suddenly ask me to find a great water pumps in here. I actually don’t know how I’ll gonna buy it as I don’t have an idea ’bout this item but I told him I’ll try to find one here and send it back home hopefully.

Besides, the one they’re using now was way too old. If my memory was right its about 13 years we been using that one. So, I guess it needs to be replaced. Right after that conversation he hangs-up there! Great job Dad!
