How to extract files such as wallpapers and system sounds from a themepack?

I was very curios on how to get the wallpapers inside a themepack file so I did an experiment and came up to this easy-to-follow steps that I am sure you too can do very well.

This tutorial is best suitable for those who would like to extract files such as wallpapers and system sounds found inside a themepack.

Note: You can use any archiver to do this. In this tutorial, I used WinRAR to extract the files.

1. Right Click on the themepack you want to extract, select "open with", select WinRAR archiver.

If you cannot see WinRAR below Windows Shell Common Dll, select "Choose default program" and locate it on your program files. I recommend that you create a shortcut of WinRAR on your desktop for you to easily find it.

2. You will see the files inside the themepack. You can extract them all or you may select only the desired files you want.

3. Set the location where you are going to place the extracted files and click OK. In this tutorial, I chose to save the files in a new folder on the Desktop.

4. Done! You can now use your extracted files.

Windows 7 Hidden Themes Revealed

There are only few default Windows 7 themes available for customization. Did you know that there are hidden themes that resides on your system? These are available for those Windows 7 users who are from these countries: Australia, Canada, Great Britain, United States and South Africa. You too can use the themes that are limited to those countries. You just need to do some minor modifications and to do so, just follow the steps below.

Steps:

Open Windows Explorer and click Organize
Select Folder and Search Options and navigate to the View tab.
Select Show hidden files, folders and drivers and uncheck Hide protected operating system files (Recommended). Click Yes, if prompted for confirmation.
Click OK and now browse to the folder: Windows\Globalization\MCT
There are five folders here with the name with format MCT-XX (where XX is AU, CA, GB, US, or ZA) which represents globalization settings for each region. Go into the folder that you want to activate its theme.Note that AU, CA and ZA regions have the same themes.
Open the Theme folder inside the selected region folder.
Double click on the XX.theme file to apply the theme to the Windows 7 desktop system. Once a theme is executed and activated, the theme will be available and saved into Personalization options, so that user can select this theme directly from the personalization settings.
Now to go to Folder Options to reverse the first 5 steps to hide the hidden and protected system files and folders again.

Now when you open the themes settings, you can see the hidden themes activated.

Experience Windows 8 using OMNIMO 4.0 for Rainmeter

Windows has recently announced Windows 8, the latest of Windows Operating System (Windows OS) which is said to be available for tablets and desktops on 2012. Windows 8's Graphical User Interface (GUI) is very similar to Windows Phone 7 which is the very reason why we have Omnimo as created by Fediafedia and Xyrfo.

Also, Fediafedia has released Omnimo 4, the latest version of Omnimo. It is a Windows Phone 7 inspired theme for rainmeter which is a compilation of different panels/widgets in square or rectanguar shapes. The latest is more stable and faster than the previous versions since (for me) this version is very close to perfection. Try it! Experience Windows 8 using Omnimo 4.
