It seems bluetooth in iPhone firmware 3.0 is more opened. You can now play games using bluetooth peer to peer network. You can also enable internet sharing of iPhone 3G connections by using the bluetooth connection with computer. Unfortunately, the real problem is: I can’t transfer images and files to other smartphones using bluetooth. Contacts cannot be shared easily, also. Not all the smartphones have data packages included.

The problem was partly solved in iPhone firmware 2.2.1. (Partly because I can’t send and receive contacts using bluetooth.) Users can jailbreak the iPhone and install iBluetooth from Cydia. I was searching information to see whether it works with the newest firmware 3.0. The official answer from the developer is “may be”. Compatibility is not guaranteed.

I am trying my luck today. Boom! It works for the latest version 1.0.8. I am able to send and receive files between different bluetooth devices now. It’s the real uses of bluetooth that should be there in iPhone firmware 3.0 by default. Developer said he is working on it and will support firmware 3.0 completely in the future. But it takes time since iBluetooth needs to rewrite to suit 3.0.

I am not sure whether the newest iPhone OS 3.1 SDK will allow bluetooth file transfers within the app itself. (For instance, the hope to transfer files with bluetooth using AirSharing). But I really hope the dream comes true.

That advertisement features a girl puke to his boyfriend (husband?). The reason is that he does not uses Internet Explorer 8, and the girl discovered those porn sites he has just watched. Since the whole video is pretty disgusting and the girl keeps vomiting until it ends, you will probably feel not so right after you watched it. It’s great to have original idea, but would that be too much? If you don’t afraid to see the ad, take a look after the break.

One of the winning factors of iPhone is the App Store. Palm Pre developers can now submit apps to the App Catalog. It’s not sure how long it takes for Palm to approve it, but it is pretty sure lots of apps will be there very soon. The number of apps may be exploded like the iPhone. Currently, Pre is lack of apps and thus the number of downloads in App Catalog is not that much. If Pre gets enough killer apps like iPhone, it would become the real iPhone killer.

Ars have done a very interesting experiment recently. They have deleted some photos from Flickr, Twitter, MySpace, and Facebook. And see if they are still there after 6 weeks. Twitter and Flickr photos are really gone. But, photos are still there and accessible to public at Facebook and MySpace. (Since it is reported by Ars, it may be removed very soon by Facebook and MySpace).

The main reason why those photos are not permanently removed could probably because of the backup copies. If you have those crazy photos, don’t upload it in the first place. “deleted” photos are not really deleted.

I was so happy to know that redsnow, the iPhone firmware 3.0 jailbreak tool, was released. I go to iPhone Dev Team site and quickly download it. It was redsnow 0.7, the very first version. I didn’t notice there is an updated version0.72. My iPhone 3G 3.0 experience the heat problem after jailbreaking. It turns pretty after using it for a long time. My friends told me it is a bug of redsnow 0.7.

I restore my iPhone 3G yesterday, and jailbreak with the newest redsnow 0.72. It seems the overheat problem is gone. iPhone becomes more stable now. If you have similar problem, try to restore the iPhone and use the latest redsnow 0.72. It may help to solve the problem.
