Are you looking for a ideas for your windows in your home? Well, it helps to know what to look for and a little bit about it. When you go shopping for blinds, it will be helpful to you to know what types there are and what they basically do. This will help you to make a better decision when that time comes. I hope that this information will be helpful to you as you shop.

Window blinds have been used as the most popular window treatment for many years now. They have become the “standard” for windows. There are very few who do not or have not had blinds for their windows in their home.

Window blinds are actually thin horizontal slats made of wood, or a faux wood material. They are connected with cords that allow them to hang equally spaced and when closed, they shut out light and insulation, when open, they can direct the light that is coming into the room. There are blinds that are also held together by strips of webbing or another flexible fabric. They are attached to a window or door, usually to the interior side.

The slats, which are horizontal, flat slats, can come in wood, metal or even vinyl. The way that they are attached allows them to be rotated to determine how much light you want to allow in your room. They can rotate up to about 170 degrees to block light or they can be pulled up to reveal an open window.

There are window blinds that can be operated by a small knob that is attached to strings, they are adjusted by twisting a long wand or by pulling a cord; you can also raise and lower the blinds with the cord. There is also a version that is wound on a mechanism that will do both functions using a winding rod.

The most popular types are the vertical wood slats or the faux wood for the budget minded customer. They are great for light dispersion and insulating from either the cold or the heat. Blinds are really great for this reason, so much heat or cold air comes through our windows, blinds work as an insulation barrier, creating a more comfortable atmosphere. Curtains are not able to provide this benefit unless they are lined and always closed.

So many types of blinds to choose from. There are the “slats” which I mentioned earlier are the horizontal, flat slat. They come in the Venetian style, which are typically metal or plastic. There is the Vertical Wood blinds or Bamboo blinds.

Mini-blinds, are a venetian blind with really narrow slats. They were very popular for a time in the 70s and 80s. They are more difficult to clean than the wider versions. But we are in the 21rst century and window blinds are more popular than ever. They look great and are long lasting, keeping their great appearance as long as they are taken care of.

Vertical blinds or track blinds are made with slats of fabric that has been stiffened, or you can get them in plastic or even metal. They hang on a track and can be opened by sliding across the track. They rotate 90 degrees allowing light to pass or they can be slid all the way open to one side of the window or door.

Solid blinds cannot be opened to let light in. They are either up or down. Some things to shop for are the material the blind is made with. The real wood featured window blinds can run more than a typical curtain or similar window treatment. They will need to be custom fitted for each window or door you are covering.

The disadvantage of blinds versus a window treatment such as cellular shades, are they need to be kept free of dust. When dust builds up it can become grimy then you will need to bring them down to clean them. But all in all, window blinds have been a favorite of many and as the quality continues, the pricing gets better, it will continue to be a favorite.

The window treatments of today represent, in a word, simplicity. This does not mean that window shades must be plain looking, but today’s window fabric shades suggest a much cleaner and crisper approach for your windows. It is easy to give your windows a fresh look because you have a wide array of shades and fabrics to choose from.

Fabric has come to be a very valuable material since its flexibility is caused by cross weaving the threads. Fabric window shades can be manufactured to just about any specification. One of the advantages of having fabric window shades is that the material can be manufactured to meet you exact measurements and then sewn or they can even be threaded to size. On the other hand, plastic based products are usually limited to standard sizes. Fabric based vertical blinds, which are another type of fabric window shade, seem to be perfect for those different windows such as windows that open with catches or for sliding glass windows. That is another distinct advantage of having fabric window shades. A great benefit for you housewives is that there is very little maintenance involved with these window coverings. If you happen to have curtains or drapes covering your windows, you know that they either have to be taken down to be washed and pressed and re-hung or must be taken to be dry cleaned. That is a real bother!

The main disadvantage of fabric window shades is that they seem to accumulate more dust than all of the other different kinds of window shades. This problem may be accentuated if you are the type of person who loves to keep you windows open. If you home happens to be in a locality where you receive a lot of automobile pollution, then window fabric shades may cause a problem.

Another major disadvantage of having fabric window shades is that because they are fairly light weight, they do not do well with high speed winds. This could pose a problem if you live in a very windy area.

The last major disadvantage is that fabric window shades are not as energy efficient as some of the other window coverings that are available. In today’s society with the price of oil skyrocketing, this may be a real problem if you heat your home with oil.

The average price of fabric window shades may vary depending upon the type of material that you select. Here are a few examples for you to consider. Roman fabric window shades will run between $100 and $250. Cellular fabric window shades will run between $50 to $275 depending on the fabric and pleat size. Roller fabric window shades seemed to be the least expensive coming in at prices between $35 and $115.

It seems that fabric window shades are becoming increasingly popular due to their versatility. No matter what your budget may be, it seems that there will be definitely something for your windows.

Vertical window blind repair basically target the middle income range of people who are over 21 years of age and live in the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Europe.

It is not that uncommon to repair vertical window blinds. It is like anything else you have in your home. If something is broken, the chances are that it can be fixed. If you happen to have pets or small children running around your home, then you are going to have to fix things more frequently. If you have vertical blinds, then you are going to have to live with the fact that they are going to need to be repaired.

Unless the problem is really serious, you are likely to do the vertical blind repair yourself. I would not necessarily say that you have to be a handyman, but it would be good if you were a little bit of a ‘jack of all trades’. If you give the job some time and patience on your part, you will be able to have your vertical window blinds up and functioning in no time. On some of the more serious cases, you may need to purchase some repair parts from either your window blind manufacturer, or you can probably find a similar part somewhere else. If you have Internet access, that would be a good place to start to look for repair parts for your vertical blinds at the best price. You must keep in mind that it will probably be much cheaper to do a repair job than to replace the whole window blind.

One job that is pretty easy to do is to replace a vane in your vertical blinds. Basically you will need the following things: cardboard, replacement vanes, utility knife or scissors and a screwdriver.

The first step in removing the vane is to open the blind and lift the vane off of the hook on the carrier or holder, bend the vane out and down in order to pull it out. If you have a spacer chain, take out the screw that is securing the end of the chain. Then you must feed the chain out of the vane you are removing. You must do this as many times as necessary in order to the vane that needs to be replaced.
To install the vane, you must orient the vane’s curve in the same direction that the other vanes are in. Grasp the vane near its top and push it up gently into the holder and then down in order to lock it into place

There are several different parts for repairing vertical blinds. One of the first ones is a vertical blind control mechanism. They come for both notched and unnotched head rails. Another repair part is a vertical fabric insert button. It is a clear plastic button that secures the fabric onto the groover or channel slats. The vertical vane fabric hanger is used for replacing broken plastic inserts that you will find sewn into the top of the vanes for fabric vertical blinds. The vertical vane fabric weight is used along with vertical vane chain and clips. This keeps the vanes from curling up. There are many types and styles of vertical vane chains and clips that are available. It just depends upon how many vanes you have in your vertical blind. Last but not least there are cord weights and tensioners.

Remember that when it comes to repairing your vertical blinds practice makes perfect. In the end you may save yourself a lot of money!

What are RV Mini Blinds?

They are a great form of privacy. Privacy is a huge concern for everyone, especially for travelers. The mini blinds will provide not only provide the privacy but also additional security keeping your possessions out of sight of those passing by or would be thief’s.

What would be your first impression if an expensive and classy RV drove up next to you and they had min-blinds, but they were torn, or dirty, or even without them at all? Would your impression of a moment before change from a classy RV to a little less classy? RV Mini blinds are an accessory that you can’t do without. They need to be of high quality as your RV.

If you have an older RV, you can update the look quickly with new RV Mini Blinds. They come in so many styles and colors. Lets go over some of the benefits of RV Mini Blinds.

RV Mini Blinds have many advantages such as control of the sunlight that comes in. The sun’s ultraviolet rays can damage the interior of your RV if it is let in on a continuous basis. The fabrics and carpet can fade and start to break down in fiber. Also, the blinds form a barrier for heat loss or trying to keep the area cool. RV Mini Blinds can block most of the suns heat and glare. When your AC is running, you don’t want to heat it back up with the sun beating in.

The original window coverings that typically come pre-installed are a fabric covered window enclosure, these are also known as a cornice. They are nice to look at and are meant to add a touch of elegance, but in practicality terms, they have no benefit. They block your entire view making you feel totally enclosed. Plus they make it very difficult to operate the windows for opening and closing.

Another advantage of RV Mini Blinds is the ability to control the sunlight while yet being able to have clear vision through your windows. They can still be pulled down allowing you to have a great view where as a pleated shade type blind would have to be pulled up for a view. Cornices are bulky and provide a very dark atmosphere where RV Mini Blinds will not only accentuate your décor but give a light and airy feeling , while providing privacy.

The RV Mini blinds have a built in constant tension system that keeps the blinds from rattling or banging, which can be very distracting and annoying for any traveler. The blinds have a 1″ width aluminum slats with a baked on enamel finish that is easy to wipe down and have a great reflectivity. A large window can be installed for approximately $80. RV Mini blinds are a very popular choice and easy to find.

The disadvantages of having RV Mini blinds would be the tedious cleaning they would require if not dusted on a regular basis. The string system can be fragile and break easily if mishandled.

Average costs of RV Mini Blinds for the smaller windows can start out at $20 and go up from there. Great choice if you are looking for a great window covering at a reasonable price.

What a beautiful addition to your home, the perfectly fitted half round window shades. They are the essence of elegance and add that expensive look for a great price. Half round window shades are tailored for the top arches of your windows. These type windows are typically in the front of a home and a focal point of the windows.

When you have gone to the expense of adding such a beautiful touch to your windows, then why not add the décor that will add style and color for your home. They also are designed for quarter round windows which are normally hard to fit.

The starburst or half round window shades come with many light filtering features. These are wonderful for diffusing the light and reducing the glare that can come in through your windows. The light diffusing material gently filters the light, this is perfect for any room. If the heat from the sun is also a problem for you in the summer, this is the perfect solution. You will be amazed at the difference in temperature when the light is softened by these shades.

It typically has a double cell construction providing excellent quality and function while adding beauty and style. They are easy to care for with just a simple vacuuming with your extension tool.

The Pleat Retention material is a double honeycomb cellular construction. This material construction will never sag or flatten. The Non-Woven Polyester Fabric is very easy to care for, extremely durable and dust resistant, nor will it fray or fade.

There are also faux wood arch round window shades available to perfectly coordinate with your wood blinds or plantation shutters. The honeycomb or cellular shades come in a variety of colors from the pale neutrals to the deep, richer tones. The backs of the blinds are all white to give a uniform look from the exterior of your home.

You have a choice between the fixed version and movable. They are like adding a new piece of furniture for your room. When you are ready to shop, measure your windows and have the numbers with you at the time of ordering.

There are some distinct advantages that you have noticed, but there may be a couple of disadvantages as well. The main one would be the dusting if they are high in a cathedral type room. The other one is if they are not perfect arches. They can be difficult to fit, you will need to make your own template for each window with exact measurements.

Here are the details for accurate measurement:

For inside mounts, measure the exact width and height inside the window opening.

For outside mounts, measure the desired width and height.

Measure the height at the tallest point.

With quarter circles, the height will equal the width. In a perfect arch, height will equal one-half the width.

With an imperfect arches, or eyebrows, exact height/width relationships don’t occur, so you must be extra careful to measure for a good fit. You can make a template for an imperfect shape and send that in with your order.

An example of pricing for the Perfect Half Round Arch Stationary Light Filter with a width of 18 0/0 inches, inside mount is approximately $139.00.

These shades will be a great investment for your home adding elegance to the front of your home and the interior. As you drive around and notice homes, you will start to see that these blinds are very popular with anyone who has the half round windows. You are making the right choice to get them, now just decide on the fabric and color.

What are Bali Blinds?

They are a leader in the do-it-yourself blinds industry. Are you a new homeowner or just moved away from home? Finally, a place of your own and you are wondering what can you put on your windows. You probably have a small budget if any at all for window treatments. If you are anything like I was for my first place, those extra sheets came in handy. But who wants sheets in their windows when you can get Bali Blinds?

Well, today Bali Blinds are so much cheaper than what I was shopping for 20 years ago and man, they look so much nicer than my sheets did. So, now you won’t have to do what I did, which I must say, was a bit tacky, but if I had known about Bali blinds then, they would have been up in my windows instead.

What is unique about Bali blinds?

Everything! They have so many window treatments to choose from, and the price is fantastic. I like their Bali Cellular Shades. I live where the weather can get quite cold and lose a lot of heat through my windows, but I can’t stand dark rooms. With this shade, I get the insulation in the winter and the summer, while still letting light in. There are great colors to choose from, perfect accent for whatever style you are going for.

Bali Blinds has about every kind of blind you are looking for. I know you are going to have different taste than I have, and so are the other people in your home. What about the Natural Shades for your bedroom? They are often called bamboo shades, and they are very simple and casual. Perfect to decorate around no matter how many times you change your mind.

Ok, now that dining room, how about the Bali Northern Heights wood blinds. Another favorite are the Bali Roller Shades, they keep your room bright and cool in the summer while still being able to outside. (another one of my favorites). It lets in a soft light, just perfect for any room.

Why you want to get Bali Blinds over any other brand? Ok, great quality, do it yourself price and so many to choose from! Oh, can’t forget…. If you have children, you know that safety and blinds are two words that rarely went together. Well, Bali blinds have made safety their primary focus. There are no cords to wrap around a child or to be pulled on out of curiosity.

Bali blinds have some so many choices, other than the ones I have mentioned earlier, including are the brand new – Bali Sliding Panels, the popular beautiful Bali Wood Blinds. They also have a beautiful collection of the faux wood blinds, that will fool anyone, but you have the great affordable choice of getting the same look. A couple more that I have to mention are the Bali Roman shades, with a soft drapery look, they are so elegant looking and perfect for a more formal look.

Bali Blinds have a great price range, whether you choose to go with the cellular shades which are in a bit higher range than if you were to get the faux wood or the composite wood blinds.

When you are ready to shop, you can order swatches of any of the blinds and colors. Check them all out, see what strikes you. But I tell you, you will not be sorry for going with a Bali Blind. Excellent quality and great service, and best yet, a great price.
