Festivids is a small fandom fanvid exchange (much as Yuletide is for fanfic) and I look forward to it every year because the end result tends to be lots of cool vids for movies and lesser known TV shows.

Did I know I would enjoy fanvids for the movie Independence Day of all things? Not really. It’s not a movie I ever think about much, to be honest. This vid is shiny and enjoyable (if you can handle lots of things blowing up).

I’ll confess, I’ve only ever seen maybe a couple of episodes of Quantum Leap and possibly not even entire episodes if I’m honest. I know the premise and while some (including the vidder) might argue this vid is a tough sell to people who don’t know the show, I think it works.

But then I love this song and seeing so many time periods and people and types of music represented in this vid … well, it seems another perfect marriage of song and source material. Kinda makes me wanna check out the show, too.

(And, as always, if you like a fanvid a lot, you should go say something nice to the creator of the vid. And if you share the vid in any way, be sure to credit the vidder and link to the source. Greensilver has made quite a few vids I like, but since it’s the first week of July, I feel an American sort of theme coming on with my recs.

I had problems with The West Wing at times (a lot of times, come to that), but this video reminds me of the good bits and especially of those characters that I liked so much.

It likely won’t work well for you if you aren’t familiar with the show, but if you know the show, it will probably give you “all the feels” (as the saying goes).
