Windsor Police and firefighters pulled a body from the Detroit River near the Ambassador Bridge late Friday afternoon.

Police say that the body is that of a 50-year-old man from the United States. They say that foul play is not suspected.

This garage on Parent Avenue was set on fire

Police have arrested yet another arson suspect.

Christopher Bennett, 47-years-old, was arrested in connection with an arson that occured in the 400 block of Parent Avenue on May 21st.

Bennett faces charges of Theft and Arson with a Disregard for Human Life.

This is the second arrest for arson in a week. Adam Spicer was arrested yesterday in relation to five fires in the east end.

California Avenue:
From Wyandotte Street West to College Avenue will be closed for sewer, watermain and road reconstruction until August 16th.

Wyandotte Street West:
Intersection of Wyandotte and Campbell closed for street scape improvements until June 29th.

Sydney Avenue:
Closed between Walker Road and Riberdy Road for road paving and construction of the Sydney/Walker intersection until June 3rd.

Wyandotte Street East:
Watermain Reconstruction between Glidden and St. Rose until August 31st.

Byng Road:
Watermain Reconstruction between Ypres and Memorial. Memorial Drive will be closed between Ida and Turner until August 31st.

Provincial / Cabana Intersection:
Traffic will be reduced to one lane of traffic in each direction through the construction zone on a temporary basis for the concrete sidewalk construction and landscaping work until June 30th.

Walker Road:
Road Reconstruction is taking place on Walker Road From E.C. Row Expressway to Foster Avenue until the end of June. Lane restrictions are in place.

Westcott Road:
From Metcalfe Street to Alice Street will be closed for sewer, watermain and road reconstruction until August 30th.

Isack Drive:
Closed between Wyandotte Street East and Cedarview Street for watermain reconstruction until the end of May.

Pelissier Street:
Closed between Giles Boulevard West and Jackson Street for watermain reconstruction until the end of June.

Riverside Drive East:
Closed between Martinique to Bertha for watermain reconstruction until August 31st.

Bertha Avenue:
Closed between Riverside and Wyandotte for watermain reconstruction until August 31st.

On May 1st a 78 year old female resident of Windsor received a phone call from a young male claiming to be her grandson.

The supposed grandson stated that he needed $3000 for an accident he was involved in. The elderly woman, believing in fact that it was her real grandson, attended her bank and transferred $3000 to the unknown suspect. Shortly after, the elderly woman realized that the young male who had called her on the phone was not her real grandson. By the time the victim contacted her bank it was too late and she was out $3000.

The Windsor Police Financial Crime unit began an investigation and with the assistance of the Cornwall, Ontario Police Service were able to track the financial transfer and identify the suspect who attended a bank in the city of Cornwall and withdrew the $3000.

An arrest warrant for Fraud Under $5000 was issued for a Christopher Heisler, 22 years of age.

On May 22nd Cornwall Police were able to locate an arrest Heisler on the Windsor warrant and on May 23rd officers from the Windsor Police Financial Crime Unit travelled to the city of Cornwall and took custody of Heisler and returned him to Windsor.

Heisler is to appear in Provincial Court in Windsor on May 24th.

The Windsor Police Financial Crime unit has had several incidents of Grandparent Scams reported over the past year and investigates the matters very seriously. Crimes against the elderly are a high priority and investigations often involve multiple jurisdictions. This arrest is an example of the lengths the investigators will go to not only solve a particular crime but also to send a message to those who prey on the elderly.

The Fort Malden Horticultural Society is holding their annual Garden Tour in Amherstburg this weekend.

The Garden Tour is a self-guided journey through several private and public gardens in the Amherstburg area. The event takes place on Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 4pm.

Garden Tour cost is $10 per person. Passes to the various house gardens and sites are available at Toddy Jones Park, adjacent to 162 Dalhousie Street.

Leamington OPP have arrested and charged two men after surveillance video showed graffiti being sprayed onto a business.

Eric Edh, age 26 and Lloyd Dibbley, age 27, both of Leamington have each been charged with Mischief x 10. They were identified by several witnesses who saw their photos released in the media.

Both men will appear in a Leamington court on June 6th.
