Our new models are Quoddy classics crafted from a truly unique Horween leather called "Chromexcel Waxed Flesh. This leather is tanned the same way as Chromexcel, but is finished on the rough out or flesh side. The finishing colors, waxes, seals, and lays the nap of the flesh flat. This gives the leather a smooth, but textured finish. In the past, Horween tanned this particular leather for use in military boots that were worn by Marines in the battle of the Pacific during WWII. The soldiers themselves would heavily wax the outside of the shoes which would darken them and make them more water resistant.

Crafted from Horween Natural Chromexcel, this shoe is made Portland friendly through the use of Alden's double leather and commando sole. The commando sole is waterproof and nonslip, making it ideal in the Pacific NW. Made on the Barrie last, these shoes also feature a decorative 360 degree reverse welt, painted brown brass eyelets, full leather linings, natural cork insole, full heel counters and steel shank through the arch for long lasting comfort and support.

Alden shoes are Goodyear Welted to provide years of use. Goodyear Welt construction allows your footwear to be resoled several times through the use of a strip of leather by which the sole is attached after the welt is stitched to the shoe.

I thought I would start the month off a little different this time. Does the name Stevie automatically put you into the category of music legend? I've been privelaged enough to see both Stevie Nicks and Stevie Wonder perform in person. Both were unbelievable experiences. Unfortunately, I was too young to really know and appreciate SRV before he passed in 1990.

Each one is a master of their instrument. Nicks with the voice, SRV with the guitar, and Wonder with the keys. Of course the presence too. Each one has that indescribable something that just makes your jaw drop every time.

Stevie Nicks I was fortunate enough to see with Tom Petty when she made a special appearance at a show in Vancouver, WA a few years back. When we got there we heard a rumor she might be there performing that night, but didn't believe it until she came on stage. They performed a few Petty tunes and some Fleetwood Mac and left us speechless.

Stevie Wonder, I had the honor to see perform live at Edgefield a few Summers ago. What an awesome night and one of the best performances I have ever seen. The soul that man plays with, you can tell he just feels the music, no other way to describe it.
