Playboy Portugal was shutdown for its depiction of Jesus in the cover. Their “crime” was to re-imagine Saramago’s novel The Gospel According to Jesus Christ as soft-core porno. It was shutdown by parent company, Playboy Enterprise in the US. According to their PR it was against Playboy standards.

Designing the Kaleidoscope icon. The approved icon is the one on top highlighted with a red square. It’s interesting to learn other people’s design process especially when coming up with new logos for a brand or a product. Kaleidoscope is a mac app that compare files for duplicates or difference within a file. This is specially useful if you’re a programmer sifting through hundreds or thousands of codes. One surprising thing about this app is it can also compare a photoshop file.

One thing that really caught me design of the icon since I am also working in progress with mobius strip design. Kaleidoscope icon exhibits an infinite theme that is inspired from M.C. Escher’s drawing pad. This one really makes it more interesting. You can read about the design process here.

Up There is a film about the dying craft of large-scale hand painted craft and the untold story of the painters struggling to keep it alive.

I remember the day when movies were advertised this way as you travel along EDSA and seeing a documentary on a local channel of the people behind the craft. Last time I saw a hand-painted advertisement on the wall was 4 years ago on a building near Ortigas.
