My sis @meitzeu has been bugging me for not doing a new blog as my current blog @ meatballonline.blogspot.com cannot update itself showing I have not updated my blog for months.

She said I will lose readers this way when no one know I actually updated my blog. So at last, I have export my blog to another new blog .. here

Not sure how this export / import blogspot thing will help in updating my post to the readers.

North Borneo Railway Steam Train, KK

Went onto the North Borneo Railway Steam Train for the 1st time.

It is priced at RM250 per person (without land transfer to and from the Tanjung Aru Railway Station unless you are staying at Sutera Pacific Hotel or Sutera Magellan Resort)

Although the 1st impression was the cost is really expensive to go up a train for few hours ride. But when we got there, we realise that it is value for money depending how much you appreciate what North Borneo Railway has to offer.

The experience of an unforgettable journey down the memory lane with the steam train, sights, sounds and smell (smoke) is just not to be missed. Some of you especially the locals might prefer to go on the train without a Tour guide, but if you are a tourists and wish to understand better on the history of North Borneo Railway and what can be found in the 2 small town that we stopped at, I highly recommend hiring a knowledgeable tour guide / engaging a travel agency for this tour.

Golden Dew Bistro @ Ming Garden Hotel & Residences, KK

Ming Garden Hotel & Residences has officially open yesterday.

So I went for dinner at the Hotel with one of my "Makan Gang" friend.

The food presentation is very good, but we are not so satisfied with the taste. These were what we ordered :

Oxtail Soup - Love how generous they are with the herbs, taste good but too salty for us. If less salty, it will be perfect.

Nasi Lemak - Love the rice, very aromatic. (I only tried the rice). But my friend said it was just okay.

The Ming's Burger - I ordered beef. It looked really impressive when it was served. However, the beef patty and pineapple was tasteless.

Service was really good though. I have asked for some Mayonnaise, but they gave me a lot, feel kinda wasted when I didn't managed to finish it.

Overall feel that the bistro serves better Malay cuisine than the Western.

Will be back to try the Lamb sausages and dessert. *** I was really sad when the waiter told me they are out of Lamb sausages. I really wanted to try it, never had that before.

Christmas Lighting at Bella Italia Restaurant, KK

Was invited to the Christmas Lighting at Bella Italia on 29 November.

It was a simple but warmth little dinner, food was good as Chef Leo wanted to introduce some of the food which will be served during the All you can Eat Christmas Buffet @ RM65 per person.

There are also Christmas Set Meal To-Go for 4 - 6 persons. You can choose from Turkey set / Beef Wellington set / Roast Lamb Leg set and many more.

We are planning to order 1 back home on the 22 Dec, for early Christmas celebration and "winter" at home, as some of us will be flying off to Sarawak attending wedding of a good friend.

I love December!

Chili Vanilla (Main Courses), KK

We (+ @meitzeu and @ChloeTiff) had a nice and simple dinner with our parents and elder sis at Chili Vanilla.

The main purpose was to try whether the food was as nice as the cakes.

It didn't disappoint us, although everyone seems to have different opinions, but we all have our favourite dish there now.

Will go there again to try out the other food.

P/S: They bake their own bread there, go try, just simply eat it with butter. Damn nice!

Don't judge a book by its cover.

Although Chili Vanilla is a small restaurant, their cakes are superb!

Love the Caramel Cheesecake the most.

We need to recharge every once in a while. Life most rewarding part is when we know how to unwind and enjoy the quality time we can spare for ourselves, alone / with great companions, as long as we know the way to recharge. :P

For me, it is always some quiet time away from work - reading a book / indulge in a cup of good coffee or nice food / or enjoy a beautiful scenery.

Went for lunch with my friends, have a good catching up time. The nachos was damn good! Wedges and salad were okay. But the pizza was kinda disappointing. It was tasteless. May be I should try their burger next time, the burger looks delicious.

Although I was disappointed with the pizza, but I enjoyed every moment there, because the service was good and the sea view simply works it way to "calm" my stress magically. It will be better if I can "extend" my meal time until afternoon tea time with a good book. Must look for time to do it soon!

Wanted to try the cakes here for sometime now.

The atmosphere at the cafe is nice, only thing is, it's a bit hot during the afternoon, the air conditioning seems like not strong enough to cope our hot and humid weather.

Love the Strawberry Frappucino I had and the Mango + Walnut cake. The Macadamia cookie is very good too. But the Chocolate Eclair is a bit dry.

Overall is a nice experience there. Will be back to try their pies, sandwiches and coffee soon.

Santola Bar Cafe @ Kolombong, KK

Went to Santola Bar Cafe for the first time with my mum and @meitzeu + @ChloeTiff last Saturday.

It is a very nice little cafe serving our local coffee (Cap Kuda Kopi) and some cakes + toast. I wish they can have more choices in food in the future as they only have toast bread with butter and kaya, ready made sandwich, 2 types of cakes (Cheese + 1 more - I think it is Mango cream sponge cake) and Nasi Kuning.

I was really hungry at that time, was thinking of toast + 2 sunny side up and sausage or Nasi Lemak when we were on our way there, thought I can find it at Santola Bar Cafe but no. So I tried the Nasi Kuning, but I must say it's really nice.

It's a good place to chill out and chit chat with friends at a hot Saturday afternoon. I'll be back soon for their coffee and hope they can have more choices in their menu.

I personally hink it's difficult to find good food whenever I'm at Warisan Square.

Except for :

Starbucks - good coffee and sandwich but bad cakes.

Japanese Restaurant (forgot the name, it's the one above Times Bookstore) - good sashimi and sushi

Secret Recipe - Nice but getting boring cakes, luckily I never get bored of the Vietnamese Beef Noodle there

But now, I have a new place to go for "makan" i.e "eat". Havana Bistro was introduced by one of my friend.

Pricing are reasonable considering the presentation, taste and portion of the food served. Slightly expensive than Upperstar but food is better. There are so much on the menu that you will sure like to explore when you read it. We had a hard time to decide what we wanted to eat.

Total bill was around RM125 for all the food and dessert posted here.

A must try there is the Mango dessert below.

It isn't my birthday until Mid December but I've received my 1st birthday gift from my dear BFF, Jessica, who came back to KK end of September for a week.

A lovely mug from Starbucks. Do you know the story of Starbucks logo? Why they use the 2 Tailed Mermaid? And what myth / legend of a 2 Tailed Mermaid? Google search it.

I'm gonna keep it for now and only start using it in my new office.

I found one of the best "De-stress" food in KK tonight.

It's a drink, but it can be a meal by itself. Forget about the calories! Sometimes we just need to indulge.

At RM7 per glass, it is considered cheap (Have I ever mentioned at my previous post on Wishbone that their concept is to be economical?). With Vanilla ice cream + milk + Hershey's Chocolate Syrup + chocolate sprinkles and lot's of Milo in a big and tall glass, it worth every sen!

My advise: Share with a friend or two. I can't finished it on my own.

P/S: Will be back to blogging actively starting next month, please don't give up on this blog.

Back from Taiwan

Hi.

Should have blog earlier but was really sick. Having bad cough, fever and itchy skin since the last 2 days of Taipei trip till now.

This picture was taken in Jiu Fen （九份）a very nice place to visit when you are in Taiwan.

We were suppose to find good food in Taizhong and Taipei, but to me, except for the steamboat buffet we had in Xi Men Ding, a restaurant called Ma La (馬辣）that serves good variety of food, all other food were just so so. It's all about street food, "concept" food but not really so much of good, tasty food. It could be because the taste doesn't suit myself.

You must now wonder what do I mean by "concept" food. It's just fancy outlook / name given to the food or the restaurant. Taste is just so so. But these places or stalls are always crowded because everyone wants to try. Some of the concept food we tried are the bear paw buns (熊掌包），Toilet restaurant (便所餐廳)，Snail onion pancake (蝸牛煎餅) and others.

Shopping is good for young fashionistas who is in their 20's. There are so many things to buy and prices are really cheap compared to what you get in KK. My friends and @meitzeu enjoyed shopping for clothing, fashion accessories and skin care very much. But, shopping in Taiwan for me is very practical instead of splurge. What I bought in Taizhong and Taipei are only these :

1. Fridge magnet
2. Bracelets for friends
3. Food products (Pineapple cookies, Beef Jerky, Lemon Tarts, Muachi etc) for office and home
4. 1 blouse and 1 T shirt
5. 4 books
6. 3 stockings (Can't find them in KK)
7. 4 boxes of contact lens
8. A bracelet for myself (been eyeing it!)
9. 2 belts
10. 2 pairs of leather sandals
and not forgetting the travel experience and memories with friends.

Afternoon Tea at Yu Cafe, Luyang, KK

Having a quiet afternoon tea session with Mei Tzeu.

This is a nice simple cafe that serves home cooked food. We actually feel like we are at our friend's home, having some bread and spring rolls.

The lady boss is a nice, young and friendly lady. She is now busy with arranging the tables for a private function tonight. Appreciates that she actually came up to us to say we can take our time while they set up the tables, if not, I'll just quickly finished my food and go. (And not blogging via my phone now :P)

But, we gotta go now, i have another appointment at 1640hrs. Tonight gonna go look for good food again.

Lunch at Boutique Cupcakes, City Mall, KK

Remember my 1st post on Boutique Cupcakes? Now it has closed its outlet at Lintas and moved to a bigger outlet at City Mall.

Went there for lunch with Mei Tzeu on a Saturday and we enjoyed the food + the atmosphere very much.

These are what we ordered :

We enjoyed every bite of our food. Although many people commented that the pricing at Boutique Cupcakes is on the high side, but sometimes, food quality comes first. If the quality is good, we do not mind to pay a little bit more. It's a common scenario where some food outlets cannot maintain or being consistence in their quality of food - taste, ingredients and presentation, Boutique Cupcakes is one of the food outlet that is still maintaining the quality. Will go there again soon to try the other food on the menu and keep you update.

Wishbone Restaurant, Gaya Street, KK

Heard from my friend that on the 1st day this restaurant opened for business sometime last week, it ran out of food around 12 noon. *Big eye ~ Feeling unbelievable

Was at Gaya street this morning with mum and we decided to try the food there. This restaurant is under the same Management as Bella Italia, with a new concept that aims at serving "Economic and famous local / Malaysian food". In addition, this is also a self-service restaurant, you order / take the food from the counter, pay and enjoy your food.

If you are from KK, Wishbone must be not unfamiliar to you. Wishbone has always been famous for its chicken rice, noodles, curry, but because it is located at Jesselton Hotel, price has always been on the high side.

But now, with this Self-service concept Wishbone, you can now have the chicken rice at RM5 (Lady portion), RM8.50 (Normal) and RM15 (If I remember correctly - for 2 to share).

As we are not used to having chicken rice for breakfast, I shared with my mum a plate of "Watan Ho" @ RM14 + 1 hot tea and 1 hot coffee for breakfast this morning. Glad to know that no "Ajinomoto" is used in the cooking. We enjoyed our Malaysian breakfast very much and it cost us RM17. Reasonable price for having meals in KK area.

Will definitely go back to try the chicken rice!

All You Can Eat Crab Dinner, Bella Italia, KK

So, did anyone missed this Crab Promo by Bella Italia?

My family and I managed to "catch" this promo last night. We enjoyed so much and Chef Leo personally cooked for us. We love both the Chili and Garlic Butter Crab. The portion was big and we didn't managed to re-order as everyone was too full.

Chef Leo also told us Bella Italia will be having Buka Puasa Set Dinner Promo on weekdays and Buffet Promo during the month of Ramadhan. So, don't miss this!
