Here’s the exercise program I am using to stay in shape this holiday season. You might want to take it easy at first, then do it faster as you become more proficient. It may be too strenuous for some.

Please keep pastor Vijay and his family in prayer. One of his family members recently passed away because of a stroke. After attending the funeral one of his relatives (Kasim) and his wife were in an accident on their way home. Kasim’s wife is in critical condition. Kasim had to have an operation on one hand and one leg. Please pray for God’s guidance for the doctors, and peace for Pastor Vijay and the whole family.

They ask for prayer for two of their former students in Brazil. Eliezer and Kelly are working in an Asiatic country, they are anxious to reach the point where they can clearly and effectively communicate the gospel and to become relevant in their new culture. They also ask us to join them in prayers for a young man from their church. Daniel and his wife are in need of more prayer and financial support before they go to the Yanomami tribe in northern Brazil next February. Alton and Ebba would also appreciate continual prayers for her health issues.

O God, who is a hiding place from the wind and a shelter from the storm, help us to turn from the tumult and clamor of the world to the calm of your great assurance; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

This is God’s invitation to us. Set your hearts on your home! In God’s plan it’s all about the King and his kingdom. He wrote the script, built the sets, directs the actors, and knows the final act—an everlasting kingdom. Scripture says, “At the right time he will bring everything together under the authority of Christ—everything in heaven and on earth” (Ephesians 1:10 NLT). Reach for it!

The journey home is nice, but the journey is not the destination. Those who are content with nothing more than joy in the journey are settling for too little satisfaction. There is more to this life than this life. The Bible tells us “God…has planted eternity in the human heart” (Ecclesiastes 3:11). In God’s narrative, life on earth is but the beginning.  It’s the first letter of the first sentence in the first chapter of God’s great story that he is writing with your life.

While driving with my granddaughter, I was getting annoyed with the driver ahead of me and I said, “Come on Sam, get moving.”

The next week we were on the same road again with another slow driver ahead. Again I said, “Come on Sam, get moving.”

My granddaughter quickly replied, “That’s not Sam. Sam has a blue car.”

Greg recently visited the “Esperanza” project one of the ministries they are helping to sustain by teaching at CAG. Gail recently visited her mom and family in Pennsylvania. She asks for prayers for her family because mom has medical issues and Gail’s siblings are taking turns staying with mom twenty four hours a day in her home.

Also keep Gail in your thoughts as she has extra responsibilities at CAG while one of their fellow missionaries has a family emergency back in the states. May it be God’s will that they return to Guatemala soon.

Oh, God, when I have food, help me to remember the hungry;
when I have work, help me to remember the jobless;
when I have a warm home, help me to remember the homeless;
When I am without pain, help me to remember those who suffer.

And remembering, help me to destroy my complacency and bestir my compassion. Make me concerned enough to help, by word and deed, those who cry out for what we take for granted.

Rick and Laura send warm greetings from Central Asia.

They had a wonderful evening getting to know some of their new teammates. They enjoyed conversation and tasting new food. Please keep them in your prayers as they continue to settle into their new environment and look for a home they can call theirs.

This summer they had low attendance at their teen camp this year, but it was still enjoyable. Doug and Sherrie enjoyed a week on the north shore of Dolphin Island at the native village of Kitkatla where they and a local area team were sharing the gospel with 20 some kids. They ask that we keep the couple who invited them to the village as they have a burden to reach the youth of their village. Also there is little support for the Christians in this small community.
