After returning home to Maastricht from Berlin, it was very unpleasant to travel from 25°C back to 10°C. Usually, Berlin is colder than Maastricht. Therefore I was very looking forward to the summer vibes—very depressing to find out there is none. However, weathergirl must have felt sorry for all the Maastricht students and let the sun shine today, great opportunity to take some snaps with my new jacket from Lashes of London. I also have great news! After weeks of applications, interviews, discussions, issues with attendancy at university to deal with, and all this to-ing and fro-ing inbetween it is finally settled: I will spend my summer break as an intern in Berlin! Summer is saved and I can't wait to finally live in my favourite German city.

Just like any other shoe addict, I can't get enough of shoes, especially when it comes to platforms and ankle boots (and glitter). Spartoo as a renown schoenen (dutch for shoes) shop, originally from France, has just the right variety of shoes to offer. Now that my black wedges are broken when dancing a little too much last Friday night in Cologne I am in desparate need of new black shoes for nights out. I've finally managed to visit the new The Shit Shop at Rückerstraße 10 in Berlin, too! I've been to the first location last summer and I must say, the new place is much bigger and I like it much better. For those who don't know about the shop yet: The Shit Shop is Bonnie Strange's Shop and offers great stuff from labels which you usually don't get that easily in Germany, such as Jeffrey Campbell, Wildfox, and The Orphan's Arms, and also has Bonnie's own THE SHIT Collection as well as THE SHIT SHOP Merch in stock. In one word: paradise. It's definitely worth stopping by, so make sure to put this one on your must-see list when coming to Berlin!

Music Monday: Magic Man — Paris

Ears up and ready for a feast! Today, I am presenting you one of my current favourite tracks which I have been listening to non-stop for the past few weeks. It's called "Paris" by Magic Man. No, not the energy drink which you probably know best for being mixed with vodka at casual house parties. Magic Man is an actual band, promising and rising, from Providence, RI. Lucky me got the chance to catch them for a little interview, in my opinion very interesting insights into their work.

"Paris" is an amazing tune with goosebump-giving melodies. Is there an actual story behind the song?

France holds a special place in our hearts because we recorded our first album there while working on organic farms, and my family is French. I also studied in Paris for a semester, and the song is about the difficult transition of returning home after living a different lifestyle in such a magical place. There may be a girl involved, too.

Both songs of yours, "Paris" and "Texas", are currently available for free download. Both names are places. Is this just coincidence or is this a hidden message such as "We love travelling"?

It is actually sort of a coincidence that our first songs are place names, but we've always been drawn to the feelings associated with places. The songs are our attempt to capture what each place means to us.

My favourite summer tune is definitely your song "Paris". What are your current favourite summer tracks for 2013?

We're big fans of Icona Pop, who were born to make summer hits. Also really into "Overdose" by Little Daylight, "The Mother We Share" by CHRVCHES, and last year's Killers album will definitely get some summer roadtrip play.

So Magic Man just graduated from college… what's up next?

Since graduation, we've been working on music full time—whether it's rehearsing the live show or writing and recording for the album, the band has certainly become a full time job, and we hope to keep it that way.

Any chance of coming to Europe soon?

No immediate plans for Europe but it's certainly on our radar. It would be a dream to play summer festivals or do a European tour—put in a good word for us!

I have stumbled over the Mankii Vintage boutique by accident, but I am very glad I discovered it. Hidden at Gormannstraße 16 in Berlin, this cute little Vintage shop offers vintage clothing from the time period 30s through 90s, as well as handmade and reworked vintage fashion. I immediately fell in love with their vintage leather jackets and I am definitely going to go back to get one!

It's finally spring time! The sun is out, the weather is nicely warm, my winter jackets are stuffed away, my sunglasses collection is ready to be worn. Spring vibes are all over the place. Maastricht looks beautiful especially during this season, and I very much look forward to spending my days sitting on the roof eating frozen yoghurt or chilling next to river Maas and have a little barbeque or picknick. I have received some new stuff lately and today I was wearing some of it: The PU leather jacket from ASOS is a gift from Deals.com. It's on sale for less than 50 EUR and you can get it here! The peacock pyrite ring is gifted from Lily Dawson Designs, which you really should check out. I love her collection and especially that ring. It's so pretty under the sunlight ― I love anything sparkling.

All Eyes On: Vibe Johansson

I have already mentioned this designer two months ago: Vibe Johansson, a Danish-born, Italian-bread designer. I discovered her through the Fier Showroom Opening at the Berlin Fashion Week in January and fell in love right away. Her AW13 collection is simply astonishing, her combinations of basic colors with chiffon material and asymmetrical shapes... I love it. My favourite piece is the black maxi dress, I am so craving it. Want. Anyway, I had the opportunity to catch Vibe for a little interview while she was showing her new collection at the EU Gateway Exhibition in Japan. Scroll down to read!

In your opinion, what is the best thing about being a fashion designer?
Vibe: I absolutely love being my own boss, and having the freedom to arrange my time as I want. I love that I can be creative and have a business doing what I love, how lucky am I?

And the worst?
Vibe: …That said – there are many frustrations to being in a creative business, nothing is ever sure, things change as fast as the wind blows, and you have to keep up at all times. It can be extremely motivation, but also extremely draining! And sometimes all the hassle of business, sales, events and so on takes all my time away from the creative core of the label, and I really have to insist on spending time in the studio – turning off my phone and computer to avoid the constant distractions!

How do you get inspired for your collections?
Vibe: Mostly I get inspired by new fabrics and the way they act when draped and shaped. I experiment a lot and make thousands of sketches for each collection. I try to travel a lot and read books and interact with people outside of the fashion world, to get new inspiration and inputs

How did you feel when attending Copenhagen Fashion Week for the first time?
Vibe: I remember it being extremely nerve-wrecking, I didn’t eat and sleep for a week, trying to get the last pieces ready in time… Since then it has become a bit more focused, I am not finished at the last minute any more, but I am still quite nervous every time I have to show a new collection.

Besides Fashion Week, there are so many other great things to do and see in Copenhagen. Do you have any insider tips for people who want to visit?
Vibe: The street where I live is in a part of town that is not visited much by tourists – it has a very local feel – in the past few years small independent shops and cafees have started popping up and it is really a great area – very creative – especially during the summer, where there is a lot of small live concerts, flea markets and that kind of things going on: Jægersborggade, (Nørrebro, Copenhagen)

Earlier today, I went to the exclusive pre-opening party of & Other Stories at Kurfürstendamm 234 in Berlin. & Other Stories belongs to the H&M group (H&M, COS, Monki, Weekday, Cheap Monday) and already has operating stores in London, Paris, Copenhagen and Stockholm. The Berlin store is 300qm big and spread over two floors in a very nice old building. Next to Leyla Piedayesh (from Lala Berlin) and Alina Süggeler (from Frida Gold) we browsed through handbags, shoes, accessories, make up, blouses, dresses. As for the catering, we were treated royally with drop dead delicious appetizers (as in mini burger, little pieces of cake, wraps and more), sparkling wine and champagne. The food was so good! The official opening is tomorrow at 12.00. The 50 first customers will get something extra and a lucky someone will get a Stories Card with 25% discount for a year!

Whewww! The past few days have been quite stressful to me, which is why it has been a bit quiet around here. Spring Session: Floral Fever!

After many days of logical inconsistency with regards to the weather (snow, sun, snow, sun, snow, sun), we students from Maastricht are finally being blessed with sunlight again. I took this chance to grab my flower headbands and get into spring mood already, although this is really difficult when thinking about the freezing temperature that is currently holding outside of my cozy room. Let's just hope this weather won't continue in April and prepare ourselves for some spring vibes!

Since Boohoo is one of my favourite online shops, I felt that I had to participate in Boohoo's current campaign "Global Styler". Other than that there is nothing new basically... Currently, it is snowing heavily in Maastricht and I feel like crawling back into my bed. I can't though, because I have to go to Dutch class now. So Leute, wie bereits Anfang letzter Woche angekündigt, nahm ich für die letzten 7 Tage an einer Sparwochenaktion von Deals.com teil. Eine Woche lang habe ich mich bei jedem Wunsch nach etwas essentiell nicht notwendigem zurückgehalten. Ich habe selbstbelegte Brötchen gemacht statt welche in der Uni zu kaufen, ich habe auf Party und Pre-Drinks verzichtet, Dinner in Restaurants hab ich den Laufpass gegeben. Hier ist das Resultat:

Das Resultat: Ich habe ganze 62,75 Euro gespart! Es ist wirklich kaum zu fassen, wie viel Geld auf Kleinigkeiten draufgeht. Man merkt es einfach nicht, aber wenn es sich anhäuft, dann ist man schon einen ordentlichen Batzen an Geld los. Ich für meinen Teil bin der Meinung, dass man sich hier und da schon einmal etwas gönnen kann. Allerdings sollte man sich im Klaren sein, dass der tägliche Kaffee im Monat schonmal 40 Euro ausmachen kann, auch wenn 2 Euro jetzt nicht grade nach einem Vermögen klingt. Ich hoffe, ihr fandet die Aktion genauso spannend wie ich. Danke an Deals.com für diese Aktion!

Wer kennt das nicht? Ein Blick ins Portmonaie und man denkt sich "Halt, das kann nicht sein." Es gibt zwei Optionen. Entweder, man hat das Geld, welches man vor zwei Tagen erst abgehoben hat, verloren, oder man wurde im Schlaf beraubt! Selbige Situation kann sich mit dem Kontostand abspielen. Allerdings vergisst man oft die Kleinigkeiten, die man sich jeden Tag erlaubt, und viele kleine Sachen zusammengehäuft machen schon viel Geld aus. Auch bei mir ist das Ausgeben von Geld so eine kritische Sache. Auf der einen Seite bin ich ziemlich geizig. Allerdings gibt es auch einige Sachen, für die ich mein Geld sofort rausschmeiße. Es kommt immer auf die Situation an. Ihr kennt das sicherlich auch. Vor allem als Studentin ist man stark vom Sparen abhängig.

Als ich letztens mir ein Fisheye/Wideangle-Objektivzusatz zugelegt hatte, habe ich wieder gemerkt, wie schnell mein Kontostand den Bach runtergeht. Da kam mir die Sparathon-Aktion von Deals.com gerade zurecht! In Kooperation mit Deals.com werde ich diese Woche eine Sparwoche starten, und überall sparen, wo es möglich ist. Mit anderen Worten: Ich werde diese Woche am Existenzminimum leben.

Um euch mal einen kleinen Eindruck zu geben, wie das wöchentliche Studentenleben in Maastricht aussieht, habe ich mal zusammengeschrieben, was ich eigentlich immer mache: Morgens: Aufstehen, Frühstück | Vormittags: Vorlesungen | Mittags: Tutorials, Mittagessen | Nachmittags: Lernen | Abends: Dinner (mit Freunden), Hausparties | Nachts: Di/Do Party, ansonsten Schlafen. Dazu kommen spontane Shoppingtrips in der Stadt, Chillereien, Picknicke sonst wo, und so weiter.

Ich bin schon sehr gespannt, wie viel Geld denn wo alles draufgehen kann und am Ende der Woche zu sehen, wie viel Geld ich eigentlich sparen könnte!

Oh god. My hair is a mess. I can't wait to dye them back to chestnut brown when summer comes closer. Until then, I shall be patient. I wanted to share some new stuff with you today. The belt with the crosses is from Urban Outfitters. I had an eye on it for basically forever and now it finally went on sale! I really like my new watch from Trenduhren, I've been searching for a golden and silver watch for a long time and it wasn't that expensive. Also, I was wearing a necklace which was in the goodiebag from the Primark store opening. I am not a huge fan of statement necklaces so I was a bit lost when trying to combine it, but I think it looks wonderful with this outfit, don't you think so, too?

Hey everyone! It's been snowing for the whole week in the Netherlands and I can barely remember the feeling of sunbeams in my neck. Please, weather fairy, stop the snow. It's depressing. I have been very busy lately, but I hope the stress will be gone soon because I have so much stuff to show you! The worst thing on my To-Do list at the moment is finding an internship in Berlin. I don't know what, I don't know where and I don't know when exactly. Great conditions for finding the perfect internship for me, right? I hope your week is more chill than mine. Absurd Purchases I

I tend to buy useless and nonsense things. As long as they look pretty or glitter, I love useless things (but they can't be useless only, otherwise purchasing those would be... well, useless). Therefore, I thought I could share my absurd purchases which I make from time to time with you. Last week, I got this solar powered sun jar from the Urban Outfitters sale. The moment I saw this, I knew I had to have it. So I got it. I love it already! It gives my room a nice glow in the dark.

I'm back in the Netherlands again, and enjoying the sun beams outside! Oh, how I missed the goosebump feeling when having the sun in my neck. I got a cold when I was in Germany and woke up with slight fever today. That sun bath made me feel much better! Unfortunately, I need to get some work done now, and I really do not feel like it... Today's outfit features two of the five things I chose from Primark's collection at the Primark store opening last Thursday: the turquoise studded sweater and the cross earrings. As I recall, the sweater was around 16 EUR and the earrings unbeatable 1.50 EUR!

Frankfurt is for Lovers (Lookbook Contest)

Primark Store Opening: Frankfurt Zeil

Primark, before the havoc.

Happy Valentine's Day everyone! I spent the morning at the opening of the second Primark store in the heart of Frankfurt: at Zeil. If you were wondering how Primark looks untouched and neat (I thought I would never actually see a Primark store in this state at all)... well, this is it. I headed there at crack of dawn, tired, lacking coffein, but was greeted with cupcakes, heart-shaped balloons and a cute goodiebag, and my spirits rose in an instant. The fact that I met up with my favourite local bloggers and friends Lydia and Jeffrey contributed well to my good mood. I happily chose a few pieces of the collection they had in the store, of which I was pleasantly surprised. At 11am sharp, the doors opened for the public... and we ran, as fast as we could, out of the store, while the public ran, as fast as they could, into the store. After surviving this race, the blogger group went for a feast at the top of the MyZeil shopping center. Buffet. No need to say more. Perfect end to this great morning/noon event. Merci, Primark Team, for having me!

Last week, Woodkid released the music video to "I Love You", which is a true masterpiece of art. The video tells the story "of a man who drowned in the cold waters of the ocean after losing the one he loved".
