In the July/August 2025 edition of JONA, Dr. Sylvain Trepanier and co-authors present "The Impact of RN Resident Saturation on Patient Outcomes and Experience in a Large Hospital System". In this article, the authors report a study 
that investigated the relationship between new graduate RN (NGRN) saturation and nurse-sensitive patient outcomes and experiences. Many nurse leaders believe that the number of NGRNs should be limited by organization or unit to ensure high-quality care. The researchers reported that to their knowledge, there is no previous evidence quantifying the impact of NGRNs' saturation on patient outcomes. 
In this study, researchers analyzed nurse staffing metrics and patient outcomes from 79 distinct medical-surgical units within 22 hospitals from 2017 to 2022. Outcomes included fall rates, catheter-associated urinary tract infections, central line–associated bloodstream infections extracted from the electronic health record, and patient experience metrics collected via survey. The researchers identified no statistically significant relationships between NGRN saturation and patient outcomes or experiences. These findings do not support limiting the number of NGRNs on medical-surgical units out of concern for negative impact on nurse-sensitive quality of care outcomes.

In "Program Evaluation of a Nurse Executive Fellowship Initiative", Dr.Michelle Nelson and co-authors report a program evaluation assessing the impact that a structured nurse executive fellowship program (NEFP) had on resilience and
emotional intelligence (EI). This mixed-methods retrospective program evaluation of the NEFP at a large community based healthcare system in the Midwest. Twelve nursing directors were selected to participate in the program via an application and interview process. The 2-year program consisted of didactic sessions, coaching sessions, immersion experiences, and completion of a process improvement project. Researchers found that both resilience and EI were greater after the program than before the program. In addition, qualitative feedback from the participants was extremely positive. The authors conclude that a structured executive development program can increase levels of resilience and EI, both of which positively impact turnover intention by reducing stress and burnout and increasing job satisfaction.

In "Identifying Fraudulent Responses and Imposters in Research Recruitment of Subjects Through Social Media", Dr. Kashica Webber-Ritchey and co-authors describe strategies to manage bots and frauds (B/F) during online
recruitment of research subjects. Bots mimic human responses in surveys using sophisticated algorithms. Fraudulent
responses occur when false ormisleading information is provided to gain research incentives. This research team identified substantial issues with fraudulent responses and imposters. This issue has not been well reported in the literature. In this study, nurse managers recruited through social media completed an online survey in a national nurse-led research study. A gift card stipend was offered to participants for survey completion. An unexpected surge in survey responses prompted researchers to halt recruitment. Multiple B/F mitigation and data validation strategies were implemented to ensure data integrity. The researachers found that in study, only 19.2% of the responses were complete and valid. The authors report proactive mitigation strategies to combat B/F responses for research using social media to connect with respondents.
