They don’t have harsh side effects like normal beauty products. They are aimed at nourishing the body internally.

Non holistic products contain corrosive chemicals which can cause carcinogenic effects and are deemed fit for long term usage. For example, the shampoo contains sudsing agent known as Sodium Laurel Sulfate which is a harsh chemical used in floor polishers and other industrial strength cleaning supplies. Deodorants contain aluminum which if used for very long time, can cause Alzheimer’s disease. They clog the pores and cause lymph blockage. Most of these chemicals with continual use weaken the immune system and makes the body susceptible to various diseases. The skin tends to become very sensitive.

Holistic cosmetics are available in the health store or whole foods outlet. They are made of fully natural substances like essential oils. They make use of the herbs, roots and fibers to replace the artificial ingredients. They don’t test them on animals and are readily available in the market.

The holistic health or beauty products are obviously priced above the artificial ingredients ones because of the cost involved in manufacturing them. It costs to grow and harvest appropriate quality ingredients and process them.

The awareness of the ill effects of the lower priced beauty products and the benefits of holistic products is fast catching up in the market. These days more and more people are willing to pay higher price for good quality healthy products. This is instigating the manufacturers to also make mass production so that the price could be lowered such that the product could be affordable to more people.

These days’ local health stores are devoting a whole lot of area for these holistic products. There are shampoos, soaps, deodorants, toothpaste and even nutritional supplements for maintaining healthy skin and hair. There are holistic products for purging of toxins, and stress relieving teas and of course, naturally base makeup too. There are lot of books been printed on these holistic products to raise awareness. These also speak about home remedies and natural beauty care as well.

There are more and more people every day going towards gentler, safer and more readily biodegradable products. These products also have wonderful fragrance especially the ones with essential oils and the luxuriant creams that can create sensual feelings too.

Moving towards holistic products would lead to healthy and happy living with compromising on health and ethics. These may take time to take effects but will certainly be more beneficial in the long term than the normal quick fix beauty technique with a long term negative effects. Therefore, it’s worth investing pennies more towards good health.

But they are bit pricey when done at the parlors. Those who don’t want to pay so much yet pamper their nails could do it at home. Toe separators are important for pedicure and manicure. They are inexpensive and available at all stores. Different types of toe separators are available these days, like foam toe separators, gel toe separators, cotton separators, etc.

Toe separators help to reach all areas of the toe nails especially while trimming or filing them. Those conversant with French pedicure would be able to appreciate the use of toe separators. For a French pedicure, strips and different sorts of polishes are required. They take a long time to dry.

Basically, the work of the toe separators is to separate the toes such that they don’t touch each other. If toe separators were not used then a pair of hands would be required to hold the toes. They are especially useful when the toe nails are painted and are drying. If not for toe separators the polish on the toes may get scuffed up and would have to be done again.

Some people try sticking cotton between the toes or use nothing at all. Using cotton is very risky as the flakes of cotton may stick to the wet nail polish or it might graze on the next toe and smudge the polish. Ultimately it would be messed up and required redoing. Then the feet would not seem as though they have been pedicured. The toe separators are made of foam and are flexible. Since they sit between the each toe they don’t fall apart and mess up the polish. Its saves lot of time while pedicure and adds comfort too.

Every woman should own a toe separator and pamper the toes with pedicure.

But they should not be neglected as they can get very painful and lead to irritation and infection. Particularly, those who suffer from diabetes and any other neurological diseases much ensure that they are free of any injury or inflammation.

The following could be done on sighting a hangnail
1. The hangnail area should be washed with warm and soap preferably antibacterial one. The hands should be washes and dried. Using a manicure scissors, carefully the hanging nails should be cut along with the hanging skin, if the flap of the skin is too deep or great, it would be left for the time being. But it should be monitored and cut once, if possible to cut it.

2. A thin coat of antibiotic cream available over the counter at the pharmacy should be applied on the hangnail. If it’s larger than a quarter inch then its better to cover it with thin plastic bandage to prevent dirt getting into it and speed up healing. The cream should be applied once or twice a day depending on the size of the area. This should be repeated until visible signs of healing are noticed.

3. The cream should be applied daily and bandage changed as well. Once the pain is completely gone, there is no need to apply cream or bandage. Sometimes the skin would come off and a red patch would be seen on the finger, then it necessary to continue with the cream and bandage until a new layer of skin covers up the area.

4. If irritation, redness, pus, oozing, swelling, significant discomfort or a red streak comes then a doctor should be consulted immediately. Hangnails are not very critical ones by sometimes they can get very troublesome.

5. To prevent hangnails, drinking plenty of water and keep the body hydrated. Applying moisturizer on the hands would help too especially in the winter months. While working with soil or outdoors, wearing gloves would be helpful. Wearing cotton gloves while sleeping will keep deep the hands soft as well.

Choosing right perfume is very important for a woman, which suits to her personality and style.

It’s very much common to want a change in perfumes after using the same for many years. Some times it’s nice to find that special scents makes one feel special. Here a few tips that could influence on choice of perfume

1. Strength of the perfume: General preference is to use light scented ones in the day and stronger smelling ones for evenings and special occasions. Eau de toilet (or “toilet water”) has light fragrance and can be used on a daily basis. Eau de parfum is oil based and has stronger smell and will cling on to the clothes of skin. The smell will linger around for hours together. This is best for evening dress.

2. Form of fragrance: Some people prefer to carry a scented sachet in their pocket or purse while others like to dab little of Eau de toilet on the back of the knees, ears or on the hem of the skirt, slacks etc. Some prefer to wear fragrant body cream or lotion before wearing their dress. A combination of these could be tried too.

3. Fragrance Types: Its best to use different fragrance for different occasions. A talc odor would suit professional dress, sweet lilac would be appropriate for every day wear. A strong yet sweet smelling floral fragrance would suit evenings and for exotic occasions, spicy oriental or hint of musk will do the magic. It’s best to keep looking out for new fragrances in the stores and try a sample of it.

4. Scent the clothes rack: Those who would like to have smell of perfume to continuously linger around them could make a potpourri of each of their favorite scent and sew it in a small bag. This could be placed in the clothes shelves, pocket of dresses or a little perfume could be sprayed in the shelf. But care should be taken to use little of perfume as it should not to be too strong.

5. Allergic reactions: Some people may be allergic to certain odors. A doctor or dermatologist would be able to suggest the ones that are appropriate to use. It’s best to not to use those and go for natural herbs. They may not bother your nose, throat or skin.

It is very good to try different fragrances before choosing the final one. Select the fragrance of your choice, which is most suitable for your personality. For selection you can take help of your close friend or spouse.

Every woman like to have long nails but most of them are worried about the chipping and cracking aspect and prefer to have short nails which are easy to maintain.

The nails are made of cells called Keratin. When new cells are produced the old cells are pushed out to the surface and that’s how the new nails grow. But there is content of the keratin drops due to lack of nutrients or lack of proper care the nail breaks.

The advancement of science of technology has solved this problem and come up the products to strengthen the nails.

These are called nail hardeners. They act as primer to the nails and protect them. There are many hardeners available in the market. Here are a few tips to choose the best hardener.

Nail Hardener Ingredients: Formaldehyde is the main ingredient in the nail hardeners. It works as fungicide and also increases the shelf life of the product. It’s a main constituent in nail polish. Formaldehyde mixed with aryl sulfonamide forms a resin that helps the polish to stick on to the nails. Many manufactures have started to use other ingredients in lieu of formaldehyde as it can cause cancer. But FDA says that it’s safe to use up to 3% in any product without worrying about its side effects.

Using formaldehyde for a long time should be avoided as the nails tend to become dry and brittle and split. Water proof products are a good replacement for formaldehyde. They help to hold the moisture in nails and keep water and dirt at bay and promote nail growth. Having petrolatum, mineral oil or lanolin, glycerin, propylene glycol and proteins in nail moisturizers would give the dexterity to the nails and strengthen them as well. For better water binding effect on the nail plate the nail strengthener should include Alpha-hydroxy acids and lactic acid too.

Important tips to use nail hardeners: The nails should be neatly trimmed and shaped before applying nail strengtheners. There should be no rough edges on the nails. The nails should be shaped in one direction using a filer or emery board. Then the waterproof nail hardener should be applied on the nails after soaking the nails in warm water for about 10 to 20 minutes. This should be repeated daily at least for 3 months. The use of detergents and nail polish removers should be avoided.

The instructions regarding the nail treatment on the cream should be strictly followed. While working in garden, washing dishes and handling household chemicals, wearing a glove would protect the nails from drying.

There are stars as well like Madonna and Cindy Crawford with beauty spots near the lips.

Natural Beauty Marks: Beauty spots are actually moles or birthmark. While some people enjoying showing off their beauty spots some would prefer to cover up. For covering up always medical advice should be sleeked. If it’s safe to leave the spot aside, then it’s better to leave it than removing it.

Fake Beauty Marks: Some people try to create their own beauty spots using various means. Some of them are permanent beauty mark and some temporary. The permanent ones are the marks tattooed into the body. The temporary ones are waterproof and sticky but disappear after a while. Nowadays, it’s fashionable to have a beauty spot. These days’ beauty spots are used to cover up pimples as well.

Beauty Marks Awning

Removing, covering, awning a beauty spot on face is not very hard. To cover up a pimple and make it beauty spots, firstly a foundation should be applied followed by a concealer that matches the skin tone. Finally, an eye pencil should be used to make a beauty spot and cover up the pimple. These beauty spots look very realistic and unless otherwise told they would look genuine beauty spot. But they would appear inappropriate if the pimple at the wrong place on the face is used to convert into beauty spot.

Only pimples in appropriate location could be converted to beauty spot if they are located on the middle of the forehead, nose or lower chin, then they should be concealed. If there is more than one birthmark on the face, its better to cover all the extra ones to give a better look to the face. No celebrity in showbiz spots more than one beauty spot on the face. Those have oversized beauty marks also going for concealing them. For concealing the same procedure as for pimple conversion to beauty should be used with the exception of application of eye pencil.

These are common advice, but its up to each person to deciding whether to conceal it or leave it. But whatever they decide, it should done with confidence.

Some have dense while others have light. Some have it long, others have it short. Long and thick eyelashes make a good impact of the eye’s appearance, they look beautiful.

There are many cosmetics available to enhance the appearance of the eyelashes. Along with these, using artificial eyelashes is also an option. This was a popular choice few decades ago, but it is still in use and applied to enhance eyes mostly in special occasions. Here are a few tips on artificial eyelashes:

The color of the false or fake eyelashes should match as closely as possible to the original eyelashes. This would make it look natural when the enhancements would be attached.

On first sight, all false eyelashes will look the same. But on closer look a design and style difference would be visible. Some would have distinct edgings, layering or curvatures. It’s always better to go for the one that is soft, undemonstrative design that would easily gel with the natural one, instead of opting for one that looks unrealistic in mass or length.

To apply the artificial eyelashes, they should be glued on the edge of the eyes. Care should be taken to ensure both the eyes look the same and also outer edge of the lashes don’t stick away from the lash line. It’s always better to stand before the mirror and fix the lashes. If the lashes appearance than the lash line, then it may have to be trimmed. But care should be taken not to over trim as it may become unusable. Lashes should be removed from the eyes before trimming.

Any make up on the face should be done after applying the lashes. Also, the make up should be in usual style with eye shadow, liner and mascara. Overdoing any aspect of the makeup would call for attention on the new eyelashes and may back fire as well.

Artificial eyelashes are not meant for everyday use. It should be used regularly only if no or very little natural eyelashes are left. It’s better to use them for parties, night out and other special occasion. Some times there would dilemma whether to use it or not, then getting a second opinion from friend or spouse would be usual.

Precautions: Artificial eyelashes are meant to add beauty and style but overdoing would take away of the killing. A cosmetic counter assistant would be able to guide on choice of eyelashes. For no reason should any use eyelashes used by others as it can carry harbor bacteria and also hold traces of the other person’s cosmetics.

Also, it can advance aging signs like wrinkles and age spots and cause other skin problems too. Children are more susceptible to harmful effect of the sun than the adults as they have more sensitive skin.

While it’s not truly possible to reverse effects of the sun’s damage on the skin but further damage can be controlled through proper sun protection techniques. Here are few tips:

Avoid over exposure to sun: It’s best to avoid exposing the skin to the direct sunlight for long hours especially 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. when the sun’s rays are brightest. While going out in the sun wearing tightly woven clothing would give more protection than light clothing with large weave. Only dry clothes protects from UV rays and not wet ones. While the sun glasses, beach umbrellas and wide brim hats would give some sought of protection but they will shield from the UV rays reflected from other surfaces. This is the reason for sunburns in cloud, foggy weathers too.

Use sunscreens: Using sunscreens will protect the skin from the rays that come directly from the sun and that are reflected. They absorb the ultra violet rays and prevent them from touching the skin. For best results using sun block that absorbs ultraviolet A and B (UVA and UVB) would be helpful. It should be applied on exposed areas of the skin and especially in high risk areas like nose and lips. They come in varying degree of sun protection factors (SPFs) with a high SPF meaning better protection. Every one should use a sun screen lotion of at least SPF15. Those with fair skin, light eye and hair colors tend to get sun burnt faster, so they should use higher SPF sunscreen. Sunscreen should be applied on the skin at least 20 minutes prior to exposure to the sun and on the lips at least 45 minutes. It should be reapplied frequently and necessarily immediately after swimming. For convenience, sunscreens come in various forms like moisturizers, sprays and lip balms.

Avoid sun bath and sun tan: Although tanning of the skin is protective reaction to ultraviolet rays but doesn’t give a healthy glow to the skin. The skin would develop wrinkles and sag over time. Tanning may be a protective reaction to the sun but it doesn’t give enough protection to the skin to prevent further damage. Therefore preventing sun tan is better than getting sun tanned. Those who want to get tanned for darker skin could go in for self-tanning lotions and cosmetic bronzers.

Protecting the skin from the sun damages by using sunscreens, avoid exposure to direct sunlight and avoiding sunbath and sun tanning would result in healthy skin and youthful appearance.

With permanent makeup on women would look fresh and radiant even in the morning when they wake up without any makeup. But micro pigmentation has its own drawbacks to too. So it’s better to understand the pro and cons before getting it done.

In micro-pigmentation, pigments are applied under the skin to create permanent color. Then the pigments go in to dermis, the next layer of skin. General reasons for going in micro pigmentation are:

Women in sports and exercises would like to wear makeup but it would smudge due to sweat.

Those suffering from health problems like arthritis would it physically challenging to apply make up everyday.

Make up smudges on people with oily skin.

Permanent makeup is time saving. Example: people with thin eyebrows need not draw their brows with permanent makeup.

There may be many reasons to go in for permanent makeup but the underlying reason is the permanent feature of the makeup. It aimed at give natural-looking makeup enhancement. Generally, people would go for neutral colors and the shade that go with their skin. It’s done mostly for permanent eyeliner, eyebrows, lip liner, lip color, and areola coloring. Those with skin discolorations benefit the most out of dermal micro pigmentation as the dyes can be used to match the skin tones and effectively cover up the discoloration. It takes about one and half hour and is done under local anesthesia or sedation. The cost ranges between $200 to $500. The usual side effects are moderate swelling and discomfort for a day and the healing time of the area is 10 days. Its don’t require to stay in the hospital for long, soon after the micro pigmentation the patient can go home

Those who decide to go for micro pigmentation should do through research on it. Also, select a plastic surgeon that is certified by the board and probably referred by those happy with work done on them. These surgeons have pictures of their works. Going though them will give an idea on how well they do the makeup and what it involves.

Micro pigmentation could be carried on by hand or through machine and it discretion of the doctor as to what to choose.

It’s always better to think a lot before going in for the treatment and the doctor as it would permanent fixture in the body and it’s very hard to revert it.

Today there a lots of anti-aging products available in the market that promise to revitalize the skin, remove the fine lines, wrinkles etc. But there a various factors to be considered before buying an anti- aging cream. There is plenty of information available on the internet which would help to choose a good anti aging cream. Here are few most important factors to be considered while choosing anti aging cream.

Ingredients in the products: There are creams meant for preventing aging signs and some for masking them. If one is used instead of the other, then it wouldn’t yield the desired results. So the information regarding the ingredients and its use should be read carefully.

Certification of safety by accredited laboratories: The creams should be tested and certified as safe to use on human skin. Many creams come without real medical evidence but as marketing gimmick try to appear credible buy featuring doctors and nurses in their advertisements.

Specialty about the product: Many to be a “scientific breakthrough,” “secret ingredient or “exclusive product” but don’t actually say how different they are. They are wishy-washy on the use of the product and offer money back guarantees.

Side effects: Some of the products come with side effects while many don’t. But it’s always better to look for information regarding the side effects. Some dubious products don’t mention the potential side effects for the fear the people wouldn’t buy it. If you don’t satisfy with recommendations of certain products, then its better not to go for it.

Quantity to be used to get best results: Gather information on the quantity to be used and the frequency of use of the products so as to get best results. Some products provides very brief information regarding use and effectiveness.

Time taken for the results to show up: The results don’t usually start showing up the next day but it should start happening within a fixed time frame. Otherwise there is no use continuing with the product.

Duration of use- Life long or for a brief period: Check if the product has to be used life long or for brief period.

Other than creams, there are anti aging procedures like injection therapies, skin resurfacing procedures and surgery. But it’s better to go to a renowned or recommended physician and surgeon for consultations and treatment.

Whatever anti-ageing cream or treatment is used, precautions are very important. It’s always better to stay away from direct sunlight. If it can’t be avoided then sunscreen lotion with SPF 15 or 30 as required must be used to avoid damage to the skin.
