I’m sure we’ve all heard at least a few friends complaining how the quite regular Facebook Updates that from time to time come to change the way we related to the social network. The constant change of minor and major aspects in their system will eventually put off even those more prone to keep up with the learn curve. But what is worse than a Facebook update? Well, a Facebook update on the real life. I’m not typically one to get on the “let’s trash Facebook update” bandwagon, but the video produced by Extremely Decent’s is so well done that almost makes me believe that updates are actually bad.

Are you tired of living in a world filled with idiots? Well, thanks to the geniuses of Sleephinker, now you can join the masses and permanently reduce your IQ with the MinusIQ pill, which at the end, will make you a much happier person.

Here’s what Cornelius Grouppe, the neurologist and senior research chemist behind the idea, have to say about the pill: “Why should I consider lowering my IQ, you might ask? Because life is easier and the world is a much happier place when you’re dumb.” Grouppe goes on saying that the lowering your IQ to 70 will get the best results, as you’ll still be to tie your shoelaces and write an average rap song.

The benefits of taking MinusIQ are evident 24h after taking the first pill as self-awareness, decency, lack of confidence and the felling of fear simply cease to exist, and soon afterwards, activities you would otherwise avoid such as drunk driving and setting your flatulence on fire will become highly enjoyable.

The side effects of taking MinusIQ will, to a variety of extent includes, disliking people of other races, and different sexual orientations, or in greater cases, disliking anyone who is basically different than you, but that’s not going to be much of a problem because your lower-IQ self will now be part of the majority, Grouppe goes on saying, “The world’s a much brighter place when you’re not too bright for it.”

The way I see it, this isn’t a movie, is a piece of art in motion. Starred by the Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen, well know for his role as the villain in the most recent Casino Royale movie, Valhalla Rising is a raw piece with a gripping ambience and dispenses many unnecessary dialogues. The screenshots below may give you a visual clue of what to expect, but you’ll be surprised after watching it, the stills are not enough to describe this film.

The plot sometimes ignores the laws of logic for the sake of great photography and the result is an experience that will certainly render you speechless. The deeper meaning the movie holds will not be spoon-fed and that’s why many of you will be classifying it as “boring” and “lame”, but if you take your time, and be patient, you’ll enjoy this as no other movie before. If you still don’t get it, well, then perhaps you should be watching Transformers instead.

I’ve just stumbled on this graphic with a list of success indicators put together by Mary Ellen Tribby for the Huffington Post, and wanted to share with you guys. I surely agree with Mary Ellen is every single point she raised, but the funny thing is that I still think there are many “sucessful” people who fill each and every single characteristic on the right side of the infographic. If you can’t read the list above, read it below:

Successful People

Have a sense of gratitude
Forgive others
Accept responsibility for their failures
Compliment
Read every day
Keep a journal
Talk about ideas
Want others to succeed
Share information and data
Keep a “to-be” list
Exude joy
Keep a “to-do/project” list
Set goals and develop life plans
Embrace change
Give other people credit for their victories
Operate from a transformational perspective

Unsuccessful People

Have a sense of entitlement
Hold a grudge
Blame others for their failures
Criticize
Watch TV every day
Say they keep a journal but really don’t
Talk about people
Secretly hope others fail
Horde information and data
Don’t know what they want to be
Exude anger
Fly by their seat of their pants
Never set goals
Think they know it all
Fear change
Take all the credit of their victories
Operate from a transnational perspective

So, what do you think? How do you classify yourself, and, do you agree with my opinion?

Los Angeles-based cinematographer and bike fiend Richie Trimble unveiled Stoopid Tall, a freakishly tall bike, at last Sunday’s CicLAvia open street event in Los Angeles. The hand-built bike is 14.5 feet tall at the seat and has a 32-foot-long bicycle chain. Trimble recorded his nerve-wracking 20 mile ride to Venice Beach with a GoPro camera that was attached to his chest. He managed to complete the ride without incident, though he nearly got wedged under a highway overpass. Trimble recently spoke to Streetsblog Los Angeles about the ride and his plans for an even taller bike.

As a cinematographer in Los Angeles, it’s rare for Richie to make it out to bike rides. Two weeks ago, his calendar clear, he rode on The Safari Bike Ride where he met up with friend and fellow bike builder, Rick Hill. Richie tells me that “Rick makes the most awesome bikes.”

Richie challenged Rick to the tallest bike in LA – two weeks later, STOOPID TALL would be constructed. Richie was building it for Saturday night’s bike ride, C.R.A.N.K. MOB, to take it to the next level. It took him twelve hours to build, the final eight hours on the day of the bike ride. With only one Huffy beach cruiser frame, crank, handle bars, seat post and the fork as the rest of the bike is made by round and square steel tubing. The curves in the the round tubing were created from an upside down shopping cart and log on top. The chain alone is six and a half bicycle chains, that’s thirty-two and a half feet. With no real tools or a flush surface, Richie used c-stands (usually seen being used on film sets), levels and small wedges, built by eye-ing it in his back yard. “I was skeptical it would even ride at all.”

Sigur Rós latest film, the Valtari Mystery Film Experiment, is now the tenth of a series of films where the Icelandic music group granted a group of directors unrestrained control to create a film for one of their songs. The video for this particularly hypnotic, and highly memorable composition entitled Ekki Múkk, was directed by Nick Abrahams starring Aiden Gillan (an actor you’ll eventually recognize from the Game Of Thrones) in the character of a man lost in the countryside, befriending a snail and meeting a fox.

In the way you should expect of Sigur Ros’s music, the 10 minute video, where the voice of the snail is given by renowned British folk musician Shirley Collins, is highly expressive and utterly peaceful. Nonetheless, it has a quite chilling and disturbing side too, with the stop-motion decay of the body of a dead fox, which certainly is not fake.

Here’s what the director has to say about making this video:

I had an idea that the British countryside could be the most alien landscape, more amazing than any special effects, and wanted to capture that feeling of amazement you get when watching a great wildlife documentary, whilst also telling a small fable.

The decaying fox sequence was there in the script from the start. First of all we had to source a dead fox – which entailed some rather odd posts by me on Facebook requesting anyone seeing dead foxes to contact me. Finally one was found in a field, and I picked it up and drove it down to Bristol where it was shot decomposing on 3 cameras by Martin over a period of about a month in a carefully controlled environment. Later in post, the kind people at Rain in Soho removed a whole heap of flies to make it more of a beautiful sequence – and we added the camera moves in the edit to give it a more poetic feel.

Watch Ekki Múkk just below:
