It’s sad but true; it will soon be time to bid farewell and good luck to Leanne. We know we have been very fortunate to have kept her as long as we have, as it has always been her dream to travel. She assures us she will keep us up to date with her destinations via e-mail and postcard, but we will miss her all the same.

A Great Big Thank You from Snoezelen Leanne, for all of your hard work and loyalty to the project. You will be sadly missed. Take care.

We are having our third annual BBQ on Friday the 14th of August between 5-7pm. Previous years have been very popular so get your tickets quickly and at only £4.50 its a bargain! New Charges!

As of July 1st we will be altering our prices and adding to the ways in which you are able to book the facilities we offer. These charges have been introduced because we often have requests for bookings to be organised to incoporate different rooms which are not currently included in our group rate bookings.

The new and additional charges are as follows:

Standard Group Rate + Pool (SGR+P) - £45
Pool only rate (PO) - £22.50
Standard Group Rate + Blue room (SGR+B) - £55
Ladies Day sessions - £9

Successful drum-a-thon!

We would like to thank everybody that took part in our 10 hour drum-a-thon on Saturday 16th of May, it was a huge success and lots of fun. Over 70 drummers showed their support throughout the day, which included a variety of drumming workshops and events. We would like to say a special thank you to our volunteers who supported us in various ways from cake making and serving refreshments to drumming and supporting visitors. Thanks to Will, Amanda, Von, Rebecca, Harriet, Sue, Maxine and Alex. We were lucky enough to receive a wonderful performance from members of the band StuntDog who gave their time generously and are regular supporters of Snoezelen.

So far we have raised approximately £900 in sponsorship and donations although there is more still to come in! Well done everyone for helping us to raise such a substantial amount. The money will be put towards developing our music service with specialist equipment and new instruments.

Drumathon!

Worcester Snoezelen Music project is having a Drumathon on Saturday 16th May 2009 between 9am and 7pm. Throughout the day there will be various workshops and activities as well as individual drumming sessions using all kinds of drums and Soundbeam.

It will be a really fun day and will be raising funds for the music service. If you are interested in joining us please contact Beth on 01905-748229 for further details.

Saturday Music club

Volunteering

Being a registered charity we rely on the support that our volunteers provide and they play a vital role in the running of Snoezelen. There are many opportunities for volunteering at Snoezelen such as gardening, painting and DIY, basic admin and getting involved with the day to day activities.

Donation of equipment

Snoezelen is a constantly changing environment which means that we are always on the look out for new equipment, the majority of which comes from specialist companies who charge heavily for their products. We are very pleased to receive second hand equipment providing we can accommodate it. If you have anything you think we could make use of please let us know and we can arrange to view it.

Financial Contributions

As a registered charity we receive no statutory funding and rely heavily on donations made by individuals and organisations. If you feel that you are able to support us in a financial capacity there are a variety of ways that you can do this.

More refurbishments

Snoezelen will be closed on Friday 6th and Saturday 7th of February. We are having some more refurbishments done including new non-slip flooring in the changing room and a changing bed in the reception toilet.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause but appreciate your understanding whilst we improve our facilities.

Christmas Closing

Concert

Our annual concert was held on the 23rd November and was again a great success. Despite the chilly weather there were around 120 people in attandance. This year we also had a small stage area which we hope enabled people to see the performers better. All our performers enjoyed their time in the limelight and a good evening was had by all.

We would like to express our thanks to our volunteers who helped so much with the smooth running of the evening, these included the ladies of the Worcester and Hereford Soroptomists, Steve Watttison and Charlie (our sound technicians), Jenny Gage and Dennis Little (from our committee), Beth Lewis, Louise Warrilow and the University of Worcesters' Chior.

During the evening we raised £558 which is great, thank you for your generosity. We are also very pleased with this as Barclays Bank has agreed to match the money raised. This is the second year that Barclays has matched our funds and we are very grateful for their continued support.

Christmas Fundraising Concert

New Music Room

In order to provide more availability for music making we opened a portakabin so that we could have two music sessions taking place at the same time. This proved to be a huge success with many coming to love our little portakabin. However we will now be relocating to a room within the Regency School building. This will provide us with a larger room which will be great for our group sessions. We are in the process of decorating at the moment but the room will be in use very soon.

Volunteer Concert

On the 28th of May we took part in a concert to raise awareness about National Volunteer Week. We had several performers showing their music making skill to celebrate the volunteers who give so generously of their time. The evening was a great success with many more people in attendance than last year. There were also several other performances including the St Richards Hospice choir. We would like to thank everyone who came to show their support.

Worcester Volunteers Bureau Concert

Last year during National Volunteers week we took part in the concert organised by the volunteers’ bureau. We are taking part again this year along with other performers including the St Richards singers and others. Last year was really good fun but there were not many people in attendance, please come along and join in the fun!

The Flora London Marathon

As many will probally know the Marathon is on the 13 of April so there is not long left. Christmas Concert

On Sunday 18th of November we held our second annual Concert. The performers were all regular music-makers at our Music Studio. There were a range of performances from solos to group muisc-making using both traditional equipment and specialised equipment like the Soundbeam.

The evening was a great success with around 200 people in attendance. We would like to say a big Thank You to everyone who supported the event especially our volunteers - Dave, Steven, Alex, Jenny, Anne and the ladies from the Soroptomists - organisations who provided raffle prizes - Droitwich Brine Baths, The Cottage in the Woods, the Soroptomists, the Co-op and Holly Jefferys - and of course our performers.

We raised £576 and the profits will be going towards equipment for expanding the Music Service.

The Great North Run

Dennis Little has been running the Great North Run for Snoezelen for the past two years. He did it again this year, hoping to raise £1000! This year Dennis matched every pound that was donated, in effect doubling the total raised.

Dennis raised £1137 (including gift aid contributions).

We would like to say a big thank you to Dennis, for his support and eforts over the past few years and CONGRATULATIONS!

We have managed to hold prices at their current level since 2004, but in order to keep pace with ever rising running costs we will be making the following increases as from the 1st of November 2007.

Per person charge: from £4.50 to £4.80

Standard Group Rate: from £30 to £32.50

Standard Group Rate including pool: from £38.50 to £40

Blue Room Group Rate: from £25 to £27

Birthday Parties: from £45 to £48.50

Music prices will remain unchanged.
