This message was preached on Sunday morning, October 11th, 2015.

I’m drinking 12 venti dark roasts a day, the EPIC leaders have used up all their vacation days to plan and strategize, and the students are spending so many nights practicing at the church that we’ve made them honorary staff members;

Dinner And A Show is THIS SUNDAY!

Maybe you went last year, it was pretty crazy huh? Awesome, yes, but a little hectic.  So maybe you’ve been tempted in the most devious of ways, maybe the devil in your ear has spoken the greatest blasphemy, or maybe you know you’ll be exhausted on Sunday night and are simply thinking it through… either way! Here are three common reasons why you might NOT want to come to Dinner And A Show this year, and why that decision might be the worst decision of your life! (Even worse than that mullet you sported in High School).

1. It was too crowded last year.

A great point.  The first year we did “D&AS”, we had seating for 50, 115 attended. Last year we had seating for 120, 235 attended. Too crowded. Fair!

But THIS year, we are renting tables and measured the sanctuary to fill it to it’s maximum comfort capacity.  We will have seating for 260, with overflow seating in room 103 and chairs lining the back walls of the sanctuary.  Everyone can eat, everyone can see, everyone can breathe, everyone wins!

2. The buffet line took forever.

Again, astute observation sir or ma’am.  Last year it took 30 minutes for everyone to be served and the buffet line wrapped to Galaxy Theater and back. And we get it, we know you feel guilty thinking this, I mean it IS a free meal and all, but you could have had a pizza delivered in that time, so why not just stay home and do exactly that?

But THIS year, food will be ready to serve when you arrive, not by tables being released, but you’ll get your food and devour it right away!  We also will have 4 stations for food, custom designed by the infamous Diana Rohde and Pastor Kirkley Peterson to optimize the maximum “HHPPM” (Happy Hungry People Per Minute).

3. I just want to donate and not attend the event.

I am forever grateful for the people who attended last year, saw the crowds, and gave a donation to EPIC Youth Ministry before leaving early.  Students lives were eternally changed because of your generosity.

But this event is SO MUCH MORE than just a fundraiser.  I want every single member of Atascadero First Assembly to fall in love with the mission of EPIC Youth, the amazing students who love this church, and watch how they are being used by God in this ministry!  Yes, we need to raise $3000 to make this year’s Youth Convention trip happen, but that’s not the ultimate goal. My true prayer is to have an army of godly men and women in our church who are COMMITTED to serving and loving our students!  I’m counting on YOU!
