Wow, I haven’t posted anything to Monkeycube since April. There are two reasons for this:

Lots of my time online is now spent on Twitter and Facebook. Using these two apps to connect with friends and send out random screeches kinda makes this blog less essential than before.
The biz is consuming most of my blogging attention.

Now I’m obsessed with getting the old Monkeycube loyalists back together. Does anybody know where Indie and Rasta are?

Templeton Rye launch party in Chicago

Back in August, the Iowa-born rye whiskey Templeton Rye launched in Chicago. Wife and I attended the launch party in full Prohibition Era get-up.

After a two-month sabbatical fueled by sun and booze, I’m back among the world of the working. I am starting my own venture: Lava Row – a social media consulting firm. Home Depot’s bizarre unicycle/shovel mashup.

A friend shared this with me today. Not only is the product bizarre enough by itself (a unicycle/shovel mashup), but the product review is hysterical. Here’s a snippet:

This product is great if you like frustration and enjoy hating things. It will bring you to your knees in defeat with frozen tears in your eyes.

SXSW is the greatest festival ever for the following reasons!

1.) People keep handing us free beer.
2.) I’ve seen Amanda Congdon at least 12 times. She has an entourage.
3.) Internet Celebrities are much more accessible than Traditional Celebrities. Today I talked to Danah Boyd and was completely starstruck. She wears fuzzy hats with ears. Tomorrow I will put stickers of her on my binder.
4.) There was an entire panel devoted to teledildonics.
5.) During his keynote today Dan Rather removed himself from his chair and attempted to descend into the audience, which caused the producers to go ape: RATHER IS ON THE LOOSE!
6.) Iron Works BBQ.
7.) People keep handing us free beer.

City of Boston terrorized by Mooninites!

A guerilla marketing campaign for the upcoming Aqua Teen Hunger Force movie – consisting of awesome LED Mooninite installations around the city of Boston – was somehow mistaken for a bomb threat / terrorist attack and pretty much shut down the entire town.

Similar installations have been in Seattle, New York, Houston, Atlanta, Austin, Philadelphia, Portland, Los Angeles and San Francisco for weeks and nobody freaked out. Proving their intelligence and complete douchebaggery, Boston city officials, politicians and beaureacratic hacks called the stunt “unconscionable,” “outrageous,” and “appalling.” Idiots.
