EARTH DAY EVERYDAY

Today we celebrate our planet. A small speck of rock with just enough moisture clinging to it to keep it from rolling through the universe eternally dry and barren, like so many of our cosmic neighbors. Our home was lucky enough to land in the solar “sweet spot”, that area of space close enough to our star to sustain life, and far enough away to make sure of our continued success as a specie. I love this small piece of rock that supports billions of lifeforms of all shape, colors, and textures, and I am grateful to whatever force saw to it that I would get a chance to witness the beauty and grandeur of this very special place. I see a future where every one of us is grateful for the chance we are given here, now, and that we work together to heal the wounds that have been inflicted on this fragile pebble in space. It is the only home we have and to damage our own home is a crime, that needs to stop today. I saw a film ( Size Comparison of the Universe 2015) that brought tears to my eyes when my mind grasped fully how small we actually are, I’ve added it to this post so that you can enjoy it too. I don’t necessarily mean small in the literal sense. We think small so it’s easy to neglect what appears to be an inexhaustible resource. We need desperately to get a grip on reality and start to turn away from wanton destruction of the only place we will ever truly call home. Each one of us can do something each day to help restore our planet. See some trash? Pick it up and put it in a trash bin. Don’t just assume someone else is going to do it, the healing starts with each one of us. Be an active participant on some level so that the unborn generations can enjoy the beauty and grandeur that we did. Happy Earth Day!!

Good Friday Indeed!!

I say this because after a long hiatus I’ve decided to work on my social media presence again. I’ve been reborn in a sense. I exercise daily, drink vegetable/fruit nutriblasts religiously, and remind myself not to sweat the small stuff. Life is as good as we make it, and I intend to make mine very good. Ocean time has become very important to me since our return from Kauai last April. I spend as much time as possible paddle-boarding, surfing, and swimming in it as I can, and it’s made me feel like I’ve finally found some balance.

So on this Good Friday I urge everyone to reconnect with yourself, and find a path that restores the balance that we all need to keep up.

Make Me Better For Me

Just getting this sentence written is a start! I say this because I’ve had a real problem getting myself to publish what I write. I mean anything!! If I seem a little angry, and irritated, you’re right I am. I know the key to good writing is practice but, I let decisions about what to practice get in the way of actual practice. I started questioning everything about the process and got stuck just letting thoughts and ideas flow through my head and not committing myself to publish anything to written form. This is not a place a creative soul can stay in for a long time. The result was no posts published for all of 2013. I realized I was worried more about what others might think about my writing, be it the style , or the content, than the joy of just writing, and I just felt like it would serve no real purpose for anyone. I have embraced fully the realization that the writing, especially the practice, is a tool to be used to make me better for me. So it does serve a great purpose, if for no other reason than that. I’m not sure that’s coming through as clearly in writing as it is in my head, but that’s about as clear as I can get it for now.
I have to write and publish, plain and simple!! It’s something that the writer in me demands. I’m starting with one piece weekly, at least, just to warm up. After that it’s back to daily posts. Now you might be wondering why I’m making this public declaration of my intention. It’s because I published nothing for all of 2013 and still had decent traffic to the blog. The report suggested that I have a voice. Some of you can actually hear me and it’s a wonderful feeling to know that it has staying power. To know you can still be heard when you don’t say anything for a year is incredible! I want to thank everyone who has taken the time to read these posts. I will make them as informative, or entertaining as the muses see fit.

I am confident that 2014 will be a positive year, filled with all the best that life has to offer. Please stay tuned and feel free to comment. Peace, Love, and Blessings.

It’s amazing that I’ve let this much time go by without so much as a peep since last year. I’m going to try to do better. I’ve been very, very busy with the non-profit project and have had to spread myself extremely thin. I figured it was time to start posting again because the temperatures are rising. Summer should actually start this week according the weather people so we should be able to get out more and chronicle some new adventures. We’ve had a long wet Winter that refuses to let Spring get sprung.

These films are mostly foreign/limited releases, but a couple of them look intriguing. I’ve added the links to the trailers so you can check them out. I hope everyone has done well since my last post, and that you have some fun this weekend.

They are making it clear in this report that things will get bad very quickly because of the obstructionist policies Republicans are now engaged in. Please read this report and contact you legislators. They need to know that Americans are watching them and that the we care about each other.

Why Are Republicans So Hateful?

I’ve tried very hard to hold my tongue and keep my peace but the Republican party and those who support their twisted ideologies have really gone too far. To blatantly take funds from unemployed Americans and give it to people who are not hurting financially is one of the most insensitive things one human being can do to another. It say’s that we live in a time where selfishness, and greed, can go unchecked and unchallenged. What good can come from not extending the unemployment benefits of millions of struggling families? The meager funds help keep lights on, and food on tables and are a lifeline in these times of great uncertainty. Where is the compassion in these people’s hearts? Who are they trying to hurt, and why are they trying so hard to hurt them? You would think they have some personal grudge against the unemployed for not doing better in a system that seems to do everything it can to keep them from doing better. I wish someone ( preferably a Republican) would give me some insight about what really motivates them? It looks and feels like they are motivated by hate. They had complete control of the country for 8 miserable years, destroyed our economy, started wars that have costed the lives of thousands of innocent young men and women, spread fear and suspicion around the world, and now at a time of year when we are supposed to love each other more, and share God’s blessings with those who are struggling, THEY CUT UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFITS!!

What a pack of insensitive heartless bastards!! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays is hypocrisy in America. This is not a place where peace and goodwill are welcomed anymore. We have to get back to the real values that America should be spreading around the world. Freedom, Compassion, Love for fellowmen are being slowly, and methodically removed from the American landscape and we should fight with all our strength to restore them.

I’m not trying to be political or anything, I’m just frustrated by the way things have gone in our country and I need to vent this somewhere in hopes that it may be read by one of those ” Republicans ” that don’t seem to understand the meaning of The Golden Rule ” do unto others as you would have them do unto you “. A good start for all of us would be to live by the Fruit of the Spirit. Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness,goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control are the principles that could pull our nation together. We could change the future forever if we never wavered from these attributes and committed ourselves to teaching this instead of violence and hate, selfishness , greed, and self-indulgence to excess.

I want more than anything to understand the logic being used to make decisions in our Government. I love my country and I am ashamed. We are not a loved and respected people. We are seen as a threat instead of a friend. An adversary instead of a partner. Democrats and Republicans are busy protecting their own jobs and don’t really care about any of us anymore. It’s about accumulation of wealth and power. The common man is an expendable byproduct of a system consumed in its own lies and deceptions. I hope things start to change soon. If they don’t we’ll be living in a police state, governed by a faceless non entity.

OK there, I’ve got that off my chest. I felt like I would explode if I didn’t voice my concern for the future of our country. Love and Peace

I’ve been vexed with computer issues for the last couple of weeks, hence the delay in this post. I’m now back online with my main computer and able to communicate freely.
