I always have about 5 or six silver bangles on . . . I don’t even know how, why, or when I started wearing them, but I’ve collected a ton over the course of the past few years and each one has come to represent something special. As I was browsing some of my favorite design sites, I couldn’t help but notice this emerging techno- trend (these are both just prototypes) … personally, I think dial phone (top) and iBangle (bottom) are both genius. The two things I never leave home without redesigned into bracelet form. Yes please!

Happy 2010!!
I am totally avoiding making resolutions at this point…lol.

Anyway, I was just looking out my window onto the snowy blanket covering Jamaica Plain, when I saw some idiot attempting to ride a bicycle down my impossibly steep-hilled street. Needless to say he failed. Miserably. (Don’t worry, he was fine. I am quite sure his ego suffered the greatest bruise!). I’m not going to lie, I’m not generally a huge fan of bicyclists. I mean, I like the idea of people choosing a more environmentally friendly way to travel… it’s just that cyclists, at least in Boston, are so annoying reckless. Add a bunch of reckless drivers and, well, you get the picture.

The best protection for a reckless bike rider (aside from, um, not biking) is of course a proper helmet. I love Yakkay’s stylish take on the traditional bike helmet, don’t you?

I will try to write something more profound re: the end of the year later today.* For now, I thought I’d share a great book I’ve been pouring over, recently acquired from the MIT Book Store. Textile Designers At The Cutting Edge by Bradley Quinn is a beautiful book full of several designers I know and some awesome artists I’ve never heard of… As a designer it’ll definitley give you some great ideas and as a consumer it’ll give you some new designers to obsess over.

*I’m not really a huge fan of “Top 1o things of…” or “Best of…” lists… but I get super motivated I might put together my favorite designers of the past 5 years :).
