Robert and I discuss “humane-washing,” the connection between beliefs and behavior, and how to deal with non-vegan family during the holidays. We also take a quick diversion into the US election results.

I learned about Kwame Whyte through Black Vegans Rock (an awesome website you need to check out) and upon reading her blog Miss Kwame Seventy-Six, I knew she needed to be on the podcast. In this chat, Kwame tells me about why she’s become vegan for a second time, what went awry the first time, and how Pinterest is the real MVP of her vegan story. We also talk about how she’s teaching her teenage daughter to thinking critically and compassionately about her dietary choices and our shared experience of becoming vegan because of a cat.

Vance is also a cartoonist who created The Joy of Soy, a book of vegetarian cartoons.
