It’s amazing how quickly Fall got here.   The good news is that this is the beginning of a good ski season.  (Knock on wood!)

During my run yesterday I was happy to see that we were able to see the Gondola up on Baldy.  Here’s a few shots that I took with my phone….sad to say the quality in the pictures is not great, but it will have to do.

According to the forecast we will be facing a cloudy day with a chance of rain.  Here’s a few things to keep in mind:

• Bring some sweaters,  jackets and warm clothes just in case it gets gloomy during the parade.
• Pack some portable chairs so you can have a great view of the parade.  Every year it’s hard to find a great spot on Main Street to view everything up close.
• Try to be early! Reserve your spot early before all the good sections are reserved
• Most importantly have fun at the parade!

The highlight of the weekend. 1,500 sheep parade down Ketchum’s Main Street with sheep ranching family members and herders. Blessing of the sheep and Peruvian musicians and dancers, Oinkari Basque dancers, the Boise Highlanders and sheep wagons.

Trailing of the Sheep Barbecue, 12:30 pm after the parade. Irving’s Hill. Authentic ranch-style barbecue, plus La India. Fundraiser for the Festival.

Trailing of the Sheep Parade

When you’re packing for your trip to Sun Valley we encourage you to bring some sweaters, jackets and warm clothes.  The weather these past few days brought us cloudy days, cold nights and snow.   We’re glad to inform that Baldy got 17” this past weekend! This is a great way to start the snow season this year and if all goes well the mountain will open on Thanksgiving week.   So to all of you mountain enthusiasts get your season pass early and start planning your stay with us, the Clarion Inn of Sun Valley.

Few of our local bars will also have some music for everyone to enjoy.  If can’t participate in the Sheep Festival then Friday and Saturday night will have live music playing at Papa Hemi’s Hideaway, the Roosevelt, Boiler Room and other locations.

Saturday 26th

• Sun Valley Music Festival - This will be the last performance of the summer.   Music will begin at 5pm – 10pm at the Sun Valley Pavillion.  Gates open at 4pm.

• Devil Whale & Matt Hopper at the Sun Valley Brewery – Salt Lake based “The Devil Whale” will make their debut appearance this Saturday at the Brewery with Matt Hopper opening at 8PM. First impressions of Devil Whale bring to mind early Cold Play with the soulful vocals of The Verve.  Special guest: Matt Hopper will open for Devil Whale in a return visit to the Brewery.

Both locals and visitors agree that attending this event is a positive and great experience. After reading and browsing the reviews, the film that caught our interest was Dr. Bronner’s Magic Soapbox. The film is a human story about a socially responsible company. “Dr. Bronner’s Magic Soapbox” documents the complicated family legacy behind the counterculture’s favorite cleaning product and the film captures four generations of soapmakers and the inspiring legacy. Remember to leave your comments and let us know which film you you liked or plan to see!

Dr. Bronner’s Magic Soapbox will be playing at 3:30 at the Sun Valley Opera house on Sunday. I posted the preview. For schedule and additional information visit them online at SVSpiritualFilmFestival.org.
