The best hours in the day to spend out doors are early in the morning and late in the afternoon when the UV rays are low. Make sure the kids spend lots of time outside during these hours.

2. Wear sun protective clothing. By far safer than any chemical sunscreen. It will protect your child’s delicate skin without the chemicals. Sunhats and sunglasses are great too.

3. Next on our list, “cut up some potatoes“. As strange as it may seem, this old traditional home remedy is safe for children. Get 2 potatoes, wash them, cut them into small cubes blend in the blender or food processor. Gently pat your child’s skin with the pureed potato. You can also place the pureed potato on a clean gauze and place on the burn.

4. Don’t have a potato? “Slice some cucumbers instead”. Wash them well and cut them into small thin layers. Place cool slices on the burn. Kids can eat the leftovers too.

5. Another old home remedy, is to soak your child in a “cool oatmeal bath”. Just cold enough to offer a wonderful relief on an minor burn. A half cup to a cup of oatmeal mixed with the water will be fine. Do not use soap. Pat your child gently with a soft towel.

6. “Cold milk.” Besides of being a good source of Vitamin D, it can be a great option right out of your fridge. Soak a soft facecloth in equal parts, cold milk and cool water, wring it out and gently press it on the minor burns.

All Eco-friendly companies shared a beautiful sunny day in the Bay Area.

In the front  of the Tesla Model S, you can even put your luggage in there!! No engine, Amazing!!

And in the the back, of the Tesla Model S, you can seat small children. Just in case they are “driving you” crazy, when you are driving. This amazing car seats 7 people comfortably. I sat in it and it is a very comfy and sexy car WOW!!

It is amazing but true that Vitamin D insufficiency affects almost 50 percent of the population worldwide.[1]

This pandemic of hypovitaminosis D can mainly be attributed to our changing lifestyle, specifically less time spent outdoors. These days there is so much bad hype about the dangers of sun exposure that we now find ourselves with a serious vitamin deficiency.

Vitamin D is unique among the essential nutrients because our bodies are able to produce it. It is made in the skin simply from exposure to sunlight. This is how most of us, and our children, get this vital vitamin.

And, that is exactly why we need to encourage “free-range” kids––children that can run freely, enjoy the outdoors, and all the delights that Mother Nature has to offer. Early in the morning and late in the afternoon are the best times for sun exposure, when the sun-rays are not as intense. Letting our children enjoy the sun safely is the perfect way to ensure they are getting enough vitamin D and staying healthy.

Vitamin D is crucial for healthy bones and teeth, as well as the immune system. So get out there and enjoy the sun safely!

What are freckles & moles?

According to the Mayo Clinic, freckles & moles are pigmented spots on the skin. People aren’t born with freckles. They develop in childhood and in later years as a result of repeated sun exposure. Freckles occur primarily in sun-exposed areas such as the nose and shoulders. It’s thought that freckling is a protective mechanism of the skin. Freckles are especially common in people with fair complexions.

Moles are growths on the skin that are usually brown or black. Moles can appear anywhere on the skin, alone or in groups.

Most moles appear in early childhood and during the first 30 years of a person’s life. It is normal to have between 10-40 moles by adulthood.

What should I look for when examining moles as an adult?

The  Cleveland Clinic suggests, the following ABCDEs are important signs of moles that could be cancerous. If a mole displays any of the signs listed below, have it checked immediately by a dermatologist:

• Asymmetry—One half of the mole does not match the other half.
• Border—The border or edges of the mole are ragged, blurred, or irregular.
• Color—The mole has different colors, or it has shades of tan, brown, black, blue, white, or red.
• Diameter—The diameter of the mole is larger than the pencil eraser.
• Elevation/Evolution—The mole appears elevated (raised from the skin); or are the moles changing

If you or your child has freckles, wear that sunhat!

According to the University of Maryland,  Freckles typically appear in children on sun-exposed areas and are usually evenly brown or tan. The more freckles a person develops as a child, the greater the risk for melanoma in adulthood. So make sure you have a sunhat handy for those children with fair skin and specially freckles.

Web-Med states, since freckles are almost always harmless, there really is no need to treat them. As with many skin conditions, it’s best to avoid the sun as much as possible. This is especially important because people who freckle easily (for example, lighter-skinned people) are more likely to develop skin cancer later in life.

 * Researchers estimate that 4,000 to 6,000 metric tons of sunscreen wash off swimmers annually in oceans worldwide, and that up to 10 percent of coral reefs are threatened by sunscreen-induced bleaching.

    * According to The Economist, the average American uses the paper equivalent of almost six 40-foot (12-metre) trees a year.

    * “PPCPs” According to the EPA, Pharmaceuticals and Personal Care Products as Pollutants (PPCPs) refers, in general, to any product used by individuals for personal health or cosmetic reasons or used by agribusiness to enhance growth or health of livestock. PPCPs comprise a diverse collection of thousands of chemical substances, including prescription and over-the-counter therapeutic drugs, veterinary drugs, fragrances, lotions, and cosmetics.

A lot of these pollutants are a major concern for our aquatic life and our drinking water resources; since billions of them are thrown to our environment.

I came across this story during my market research, in an effort to help educate parents around the world.

Clare Oliver a beautiful 26 year old girl, died of an aggressive Melanoma in Australia back in 2007. She started going to  tanning salons when she was only 19 years old!

She fell as a target of the inconspicuous AD specials, from a tanning salon. With a deadly offer of  “buy 10 sessions get 20”. She was diagnosed at 22.

As parents, we must educate our children, even at an early age of the dangers of Tanning beds. According to my research, the risks are higher among girls between the ages of 15 and 18. And the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) says it can become an addiction.

The USA Department of Health and Human Services  reported that  indoor tanning is “carcinogenic to humans”.

In such a booming industry, with 2 billion dollars in annual sales! [SHOCKING]

Don’t forget to pack your natural sunscreen, specially for those little noses and ears. Wear a sun hat and  a helmet for skiing and sledding to protect your head all the way around!

Did you know that….

In higher altitudes, a thinner atmosphere absorbs less UV radiation. The Ozone layer absorbs some of  it.   Snow has the same ground reflection effect as sand or concrete, BUT Snow reflects the sun up to 8O%! (source: the World Health Organization WHO)
