The “non-unanimous agreement” verdict was reached in a Phoenix courtroom by the same jury of eight men and four women that convicted Arias earlier this month of first-degree murder. The jury deliberated for more than 13 hours after a three-day penalty phase.

Under Arizona law, a new jury will be selected — reportedly on July 18 — to decide Arias’ punishment. If the second panel can’t make a decision, the judge will have to decide whether to put her in prison for life or make her eligible for parole in 25 years.

Alexander suffered nearly 30 knife wounds, was shot in the head and had his throat slit before Arias dragged his body into the shower. He was found five days later by friends.

So…what is the verdict gonna be???

At some point, Martinez said, Arias decided it was time to carry out her murderous plan.

Martinez displayed text messages that Alexander and Arias exchanged about a week before the killing.

“I want you to understand how evil I think you are,” Alexander wrote to her.

Any expectations for the verdict?

The last week has been very emotionally intense, especially for those of us with friends in family in Boston. To think it has only been a week since the bombings took place. All that has happened since, from the release of the photos of the suspects, to the 24 hour manhunt and eventual capture of suspect #2. It has been a crazy few days!

Psychotherapist Alyce LaViolette has been testifying for more than a week about her conclusion that Arias was a victim of both physical and emotional abuse by Travis Alexander. Arias says the killing was self-defense, and described during her 18 days of testimony how Alexander had grown more abusive in the months leading up to his death, once choking her into unconsciousness.

Arias faces a possible death sentence if convicted of first-degree murder.

Prosecutor Juan Martinez is questioning a defense witness who says Arias suffered domestic abuse at the hands of her lover.

Psychotherapist Alyce LaViolette (la-VY’-oh-let) has been testifying for more than a week.

Martinez on Tuesday hammered LaViolette over how she could know Arias didn’t lie to her. The witness says she believed Arias, but she has no way of knowing whether she was truthful.

Arias was hammered with questions directly from the jury in her murder trial today. The questions focused on her actions on the day she killed her ex-boyfriend, Travis Alexander.

I guess Arizona is one of three states that allow the jury to ask questions of witnesses on the stand. I wasn’t aware of that!

Questions posed by jurors to accused murderer Jodi Arias today showed skepticism toward many of Arias’ claims about her relationship with ex-boyfriend Travis Alexander and the alleged confrontation that resulted in his death.

Members of the jury submitted more than 100 questions to Judge Sherry Stephens after Arias finished testifying in direct and cross examination. Arias, 32, is charged with murder in Alexander’s death and could face the death penalty if convicted.
