These two always love to nap together. Galy is like a mom to Mr. B. She likes to groom him every now and then. It all started when Mr. B came to our home. As soon as Galy saw him her motherly instinct kicked in. All she wanted to do is groom him and sometimes she would want to pick him up like he would with her mouth around his neck. But she can’t pick him up because Mr. B is too heavy. I think Galy remembers her puppies couple of months ago when she had her litters. She thinks that Mr. B is one of her litters. It’s kind a sweet to look at them when they lay down close to each other. I never expected to see a German Shepherd to be so good or get along well with a cat.

They were both from the shelter “Roice-Hurst Humane Society” here in Grand Junction, Colorado. They were approximately 1 year old when we got them and they are both Lhasa Apso Mix. We thought they were sisters when we first saw them at the shelter because they were both place in the same kennel but the people at the shelter said that they were not, they just came at the same time from New Mexico and so they placed them together in one kennel since they get along very well. We didn’t plan to adopt 2 dogs at that time but when we saw them, we just felt that it is better for them to stay together and so we both took them home.

The other dog we adopted is also a female, her name is Galy and she is a pure bred German Shepherd. She came to our home last year. She came here in Grand Junction last year in January with my step daughter for breeding. They came here from Texas, while staying here at home Galy came birth to 5 litters of puppies. To make the story short my step daughter was able to find homes for all the puppies. My step daughter also had a Golden Retriever which she breed at the same time. Trust me, it was not a good experience having two dogs with litters. It was like a zoo at home. When all of the litters found a good home and my step daughter and her family were ready to go back to Texas. She decided, she didn’t want to take Galy back home ( Texas ) with her. She offered if we wanted to have Galy but we were hesitant because we already have Peaches and Wiggles. Me and my husband were trying to decide if we wanted to adopt Galy and maybe we could breed her in the future also. Galy is a very good dog and for a couple of months she stayed with us I came to love her. My boys loved her and Galy is pretty much good with the boys and Oh, she loves my husband big time! She would follow him wherever he goes even to the bathroom. So, we decided to keep her.

And what about our two cats? Well, here’s their story. We have Kitty Baby, she is female, and has gray coat and she used to be a feral cat. We saw her first time wandering around in the backyard when we moved in to our home back in 2011. My mom-in-law started giving her food outside in the backyard everyday and slowly getting her trust. Eventually my mom invited her in the house and she started coming in the house. She usually stays in our bedroom because she doesn’t get along with my other pets.

The other feline is Mr. B and he is a big black boy. I have seen him in the front yard for awhile especially when a pull over my car. One time I saw him on the side of our parking lot started meowing. I came up to him and he started laying down on his back wanting to be scratch so I scratch his belly. The next day I saw him again. Me and my husband were thinking if he was someone’s cat in the neighborhood. We put some food outside and see if he will eat it. He keeps coming back everyday so we thought, he is a homeless cat. It was last year during fall season and the weather is starting to get cold. So, we decided to put a shelter outside in the front driveway so he can stay their whenever he wants, we also put food and water close by it. He’s been staying there everyday since we put the shelter for him and so we concluded that he is a homeless cat. We suspected that he was owned by our neighbor who were older couple both passed away and have sold the house couple of months ago. Mr. B is a very sweet cat and he is a very domesticated cat, he loves to play too. When we open our front door for him, he just came inside like he owns it and didn’t even bother being mugged by the three dogs. Galy loves him, she would groom him like her own. Peaches and Wiggles at first we thought they will attack Mr. B because they would usually chase any cat they see in the backyard. To our surprise, they are fine with Mr. B I guess because this big boy is showing that he is not afraid of them. So, Mr. B officially became a member of the family from then on.

I am sure everyone is aware and have been following the news about the Coronavirus that is infecting thousands of people in Wuhan and other cities in China and reports say that it has spread outside China. What do we know about Coronavirus?

Coronaviruses ( CoV ) are a large family of viruses that cause illness ranging from the common cold to more severe respiratory disease such as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS-CoV) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS-CoV). A novel coronavirus (nCoV) or (2019 nCoV), is a new strain of virus that has not been previously identified in humans.

So far there has been 17 Countries affected by 2019 Novel Coronavirus, these countries include – Germany, Sri Lanka, Cambodia, Canada, Malaysia, Australia, Nepal, France, Vietnam, Singapore, Hongkong, Macau, Taiwan, US, Republic of Korea, Japan, Thailand.

The first known cases in December 2019 were traced to an animal market in the Chinese city of Wuhan.

As of Wednesday ( China Time ) 132 people had died from the virus and the number of confirmed cases who are infected with the virus are up to 5,974.

I hope that an antidote will be discovered as soon as possible so this virus will no longer spread and affect more people around the globe.

I guess our cultural differences ( I am Filipino), ( he is Caucasian ) helped us overcome those challenges even though some might say their cultural differences made their marriage fell apart. I think what made our relationship unique is that me and my husband are very much opposite in many ways. He is more vocal and chatty, I am more silent and tight-lipped. I like to listen more and he likes to talk more. He is more adventurous and I am more cautious. Anyway, I am thankful that despite of these differences we have one thing in common and that is we love each other, we try our best to put up with each other’s differences and we value our marriage to keep it together. We are hoping that we will be able to celebrate more years of wedding anniversaries.

I am back after almost 12 years of not being able to post. Eleven years have gone by so fast, it’s unbelievable! I’m going to give you a summary of what was going on with my life between those years. So, what happened after the last time I posted in my blog in 2008?

2009- I gave birth to my first born son through a C-Section. I worked as a CNA at a nursing home after 3 months of giving birth. I also got my US Citizenship during that year. The not so good part was we lost our home that year also as a result of the recession. Life went on as we moved and rented a new place. We overcame the challenges with God’s help.

2010- I got pregnant to my second child. I resigned from work as a CNA because of my pregnancy.

2011- I gave birth to another boy, again C-Section for the second and the last time. That same year we were able to buy our new home. After 6 months of giving birth I went back to work as a CNA.

2012- I change career, I was able to find job at the US Postal service as a clerk.

2013- Still working at the US Postal service.

2014- I became regular employee at the US. Postal Service.

2015- Nothing significant going on in my life and family.

2016- I went to the Philippines to visit my parents and my brother after almost 10 years of not seeing them.

2017 to 2019 – Things are going smoothly. Thank God for all the blessings and trength He gave me and my family.

So, now 2020 I decided to get back to blogging again for the main reason that I would like to be able to monetize this blog in the near future as I did many years ago with my other blogs when I was still actively doing it.

I got a forwarded email today from a friend back in the Philippines and I find the email so interesting that I would like to post it here. This is about “Why should the wedding ring be worn on the fourth finger”.

There is a beautiful and convincing explanation given by the Chinese…..

Thumb represents your Parents
Second (Index) finger represents your Siblings
Middle finger represents your-Self
Fourth (Ring) finger represents your Life Partner
& the Last (Little) finger represents your children

Firstly, open your palms (face to face), bend the middle fingers and hold them together – back to back
Secondly, open and hold the remaining three fingers and the thumb – tip to tip
(As shown in the figure below):

Now, try to separate your thumbs (representing the parents)…, they will open, because your parents are not destined to live with you lifelong, and have to leave you sooner or later.

Please join your thumbs as before and separate your Index fingers (representing siblings)…., they will also open, because your brothers and sisters will have their own families and will have to lead their own separate lives.
Now join the Index fingers and separate your Little fingers (representing your children)…., they will open too, because the children also will get married and settle down on their own some day.
Finally, join your Little fingers, and try to separate your Ring fingers (representing your spouse).
You will be surprised to see that you just CANNOT….., because Husband & Wife have to remain together all their lives – through thick and thin!!

Isn’t this insteresting? Try this for yourself.

This was the term hubby told me when I wash the dishes in our dishwasher. I normally do dishes manually and very rarely I use our dishwasher. The reason I don’t use our dishwasher much is that dishwashing to me is not that a big deal and I am used to do it manually since I grew up in the Philippines washing the dishes with hands because in the first place we do not have dishwasher which most Filipinoes don’t. I told hubby before that if I can just do the dishes manually it would help cut some energy bills. But earlier, I decided to use the dishwasher since I got lazy washing them up when I saw those dishes piled up in the sink. Then hubby started asking if the dishwasher was on and I said yes, I’m using it then he said, “now you finally use the dishwasher”. “You are now americanized”. It was funny because while he was talking to me he was trying to copy my Filipino accent when I talk English.
