This tutorial will allow you to produce a beautiful flower reminiscent of freshly cut florist flowers. Great for center piece arrangements!!! Here is a peak at the final product.

Things You’ll Need:

Your Choice of Colored Tissue Papers
Green or white Chenille Stems (pipe cleaners)
2 Round Jar or Plastic Lids (one smaller than the other)
Scissors
Pencil
Big Sewing Needle or Sharp Poking Tool

Step 1. Make the flower petals by tracing the circle lids onto tissue paper. You will need 8 total circle layers for your flower: 4 big & 4 small. To make this easier fold your piece of tissue paper in half till you have 4 layers, then trace your lids on the top layer. Cut out the circles through all the layers & stack the smaller circles on top of the larger circles.

Step 2. Poke the stem through the flower layers. Using a needle or sharp tool; poke two holes side-by-side (approx. 1/8″ apart) in the center of your circles. Push the pipe cleaner stem all the way through and make sure the circles are pushed all the way up against the top of the pipe cleaner. Then twist the two stems together on the underside of the flower top to form one solid stem.

Step 3. Creatively “crinkle” the flower petals. Starting with the top layer of the circle stack, and crumple each layer. (No two crinkles or crumples will be alike!)

Petal Variations:
Here are a few ideas to create other variations on the flower layers and petals you might like to try:
Add a layer or two of a different color of tissue paper making your flower two-toned.
Use one color for the bigger circles, and one color for the smaller circles. Or, use two shades of the same color, one lighter and one darker.
Cut the circles out with interesting edger scissors or scrapbooking edging tools.
Instead of circle layers, draw flower petal shapes, square shapes, triangle shapes, or any other shape you desire.

You dreamed of your wedding since you were a little girl, you’ve always wanted it to be unique, an occasion everyone will remember. When it comes to planning a themed wedding the sky is the limit. The key is that even though it is a theme wedding, it should have the basic elements of a traditional wedding. But where to start? Here is out checklist to help you to get started.

1. Choosing Your Theme!
Now you need a great theme. Start by choosing something meaningful to you, something that tells everyone a little about the two of you. What are your interests or hobbies? What fits your personality? Whatever you choose, make sure it’s you.

Popular themes include beach/nautical and garden themes, romantic or Shakespearean themes and even Western-style or Renaissance themes. Cultural themes are especially popular in recent years. Some great original themes that I have seen at weddings are: A Nightmare Before Christmas theme, pool party, tropical, video game theme, Mardi Gras, firefighter theme, Vintage 1940’s, Old Hollywood, I personally think a pirate themed wedding would make for a great wedding. Really the possibilities are endless!

2. Unique Wedding Favors and Invitations!
Your invitation is the best way to introduce your theme. If your going for a pirate theme why not have your invitation in the shape of a treasure chest, or beach theme- a message in a bottle. By making your invitations fun, stylish, and unique your guests will get a hint of what is to come. Your wedding favors should scream “insert your theme here”. You can start your search for the most unique wedding favors and bridal shower favors online. The best way to get personalized wedding favors is to make them yourself. Check out his blog from time to time for ideas and how to’s on making home made party favors. Can’t come up with an idea, shoot us an email and we’ll put our creative minds together and publish an great idea to inspire you.

3. Location and Decorations!
Now that you have a theme, you’ve picked out invitations and conjured up a great idea for favors, now you can think about big items like location and decorations. Just remember, nothing is too out of the ordinary. Some ideas are: host a Camelot themed wedding inside a rustic castle, an under the sea wedding at the local aquarium. A Western theme in a ghost town, or a big barn. Out on a dock in a harbor for a pirate theme. The more creative the location the more memorable your wedding will be to your guests. Think about popular motifs for your theme. Beach balls = a fun beach wedding, while saddles, bandanas and hay bales would fit perfectly for a Western-themed wedding. Whatever you choose, there are great party stores where you can rent items or purchase them to outfit your day. Or get the girls together for craft days and make everything yourselves.

4. Music, Food and Dance!
The right choice in music can set the tone & mood for your themed wedding. This is especially true for cultural weddings where music or a cultural dance can set the mood & make all the difference. Research, and more research will help you to find the right type of music or take dance classes. While doing all your research, you may find other great ideas for details for your theme.

Had a themed wedding or got some spectacular ideas you’d like to share with HomeMade Bride, send us an email.
