Sparks and chippies were among the high flyers during the good times of the Celtic Tiger, with even the worst of the trade charging up to €50 PER HOUR for even simple tasks like wiring a plug or changing a LIGHTBULB and in many cases, 22 year old Dublin electricians were clearing a massive €1000 per week which they SPUNKED away on houses in Duleek, Hyundai Coupés and perverted lapdancing trips to LIVERPOOL.

Most of these jobsworths, because they were self employed, enjoyed the fruits of a hopelessly imept TAX SYYSTEM and even refused to accept cheques from customers wanting to get their GRUBBY hands on cold hard cash instead, so that they could FIDDLE the taxman.

Not caring that times are hard, they now threaten strike action should they not be given even MORE money, rather then give up 10% of their wages, like the entire PUBLIC SECTOR recently did.

It is this publication’s opinion that the next time you pass a spotty youth in a pair of SNICKERS overalls carrying one of those little yellow screwdrivers with the lightbulb inside, you should IMMEDIATELY ruch to the nearest water source, fill a BUCKET and throw it over him.

It seems that I was one of the lucky ones.

I got seperated from my gang, and started walking. It was no use people telling me where they were because it was dark and I couldn’t see any signs. I just headed out past all the bus queues, onto an unlit country road and headed towards Naas.

I asked a steward to flag down a Dublin Bus for me on the road and to be fair to her, she did. I was home within the hour.

However, here’s what other quite livid people are saying about the organisational shitstorm that was ACDC in Punchestown on Sunday night.

Organisation wise it was a mess everywhere. We were waiting ages for a park & ride bus but we were in a good natured queue so everyone was having a good joke and spirits were pretty high.I had to pity the single steward we had.She was only about 20 at most and was doin her best to stop queue skippers and get the buses that were there filled fast as possible.

It will be a long ass time before I go to punchestown for another gig though

Im sick of going to outdoor shows in Ireland and being treated like an animal.

And to have the biggest rock band in the world supported by 2 pub bands was another slap in the face!

took almost 3 hours to bus it/ walk it to Punchestown.. Sweaty buses, tired feet, no cops/stewarts to be seen to ease the situation. Didn’t expect it to be so bad, but also didn’t expect the collective brain power to fix the situation

Were you at this gig? When that Bus queue collapsed thousands of people rushed towards the buses. We could have easily been dealing with people being crushed to death. Someone beside was saying all he could think about was Hillsborough when this happened.

I expect rough and tumble at a gig I have been going to them (on the whole metal and rock) for over 20 years. Last night was the third time I’ve seen AC/DC. I’ve been to alot of varied places for gigs and trying to get out of Punchestown was the worst experience I have ever had at a gig ever.

Other than that, the organization was crap. Seriously, I can tolerate a lot, but having just one exit and no lights for 60,000 people seemed a tad rediculous, along with the Dublin bus’ inability to manage their customers. If I understand correctly, I believe they actually had enough Double Decker buses (I saw them parked with my own eyes!), but they either didnt have enough drivers or couldnt get through to their pick up point. Took 4 hours to get back to Dublin. I have seen better organized muppet shows.

I would go to AC/DC again in the morning, but will probably never go back to Punchestown, or at least when MCD/Dublin Bus are involved.

ACDC were amazing.

MCD were a disaster. Again.

I’ve been to massive gigs in Europe, and have never waited more than 5 minutes for a drink. I’ve gotten from Copenhagen city centre to the front of the stage in Roskilde using train, bus and feet in less time than it took to get a pint on Sunday.

I’ve queued up in well organsied lines in well lit signposted areas to get a bus back to Copenhagen at 3am and been there, without having to stand on the bus, within 45 minutes.

MCD really have to pull their fucking finger out.
