Could full fibre, gigabit broadband boost your business?

Future business success and the competitiveness of the city region economy will be increasingly linked with the quality and speed of Bristol’s broadband offer. National research shows businesses are looking for more choice in broadband speeds and also emphasising the quality of the connection, including reliability and upload speed.

For businesses that have already made the jump to ultrafast speeds, the impact has often been transformative – helping businesses become more productive, competitive and to grow faster.

Bristol City Council wants to get an up-to-date view of Bristol’s businesses, large and small, of their experiences of their broadband connection and the demand for full fibre broadband, ultrafast speeds (above 300 mbps down) and higher quality connections. They also want to hear from organisations from the voluntary and community sector.

Be the first to know about new incentives

Businesses completing the survey can opt-in to invites to future seminars to hear from other businesses’ experiences and speak to telecoms providers. Survey respondents will also be amongst the first to know about expected new financial incentives from the UK Government to secure a full fibre connection.

Your views working for Bristol

The UK Government is helping by committing £1 billion+ to full fibre and wireless (5G) and developing a range of initiatives to help businesses reach a full fibre future. Bristol will compete for a share of this money with other cities. To help our bids succeed they need to be based on up-to-date evidence and information on demand – hence our business broadband survey.

Knowle West Media Centre and Bristol City Council invite you to an interactive workshop to imagine how we can tackle city issues using new technologies…

Imagine Bristol will take place on Saturday 5th March 11am-3pm at Knowle West Media Centre. The day will bring together local people, technologists and artists; there will be lots of interactive activities and a free lunch!

Everyone is welcome, but we are really interested to have attendees who are interested or active in Bristol’s environmental issues, housing issues and small business retail vitality. No specific technology expertise or experience is needed!

You can book your free place at www.imaginebristol.eventbrite.co.uk. Your input on the day will be invaluable in developing new community tools using the latest sensor technologies, working within the framework of The Bristol Approach to Citizen Sensing.
